Abstract

The transition from offline to online learning is a challenge for teachers in effectively fulfilling their roles and necessitates openness and adaptability to change. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the role of grit as a mediator in the relationship between openness to experience and the effectiveness of teachers. This was carried out during distance learning among 211 vocational high school teachers in DKI Jakarta. The results showed significant indirect (ab = .321, p < .01, 95% CI [.177, .487]) and direct effects (c’ = 1.298, p < .01, 95% CI [.964, 1.633]). These results indicated that grit partially mediated the relationship between openness to experience and the effectiveness of teachers. Consequently, the study implied that fostering a high level of openness to experience enhanced grit and increased teachers' effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to look at the basic assumptions of individuals towards self-resilience after trauma due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this study uses an e-research research method by distributing CBI questionnaires from google form through social media in order to obtain relevant information from various random respondents. While the data analysis technique was carried out by frequency distribution analysis to get the average percentage value of the research results. After analysing the percentage, it was found that the basic assumptions of individuals towards self-resilience after the COVID-19 pandemic with an average percentage of 7.73% VU, 7.720 NS, 18.33 NQR, 34.22% AP, and 32.43% VS. So the results of this study indicate that positive post-traumatic changes towards individual resilience due to the COVID-19 Pandemic occur very realistic changes, where individual resilience can be categorised as very transformational, where individual changes and mental development are much better than the pre-trauma situation before the COVID-19 Pandemic occurred.

Abstract

This study examines the complex interplay among Public Service Motivation (PSM), red tape, and work-related outcomes within Indonesia's public sector, utilizing a sample of 2,386 state-owned enterprise employees. Employing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling, we analyze PSM's influence on work engagement, affective commitment, and innovative work behavior while assessing red tape's moderating role. Our findings reveal that PSM significantly enhances work engagement and affective commitment. However, PSM does not directly predict innovative work behavior, suggesting innovation requires additional organizational support. Red tape negatively impacts engagement, commitment, and innovation, underscoring the need for process simplification. Work engagement mediates the relationship between PSM and affective commitment and innovation, highlighting its pivotal role. Notably, red tape does not moderate PSM’s effect on engagement, indicating PSM's resilience amid bureaucratic constraints. These insights emphasize the importance of fostering PSM to strengthen employee commitment and engagement. Additionally, policymakers must address bureaucratic inefficiencies and cultivate innovation-supportive environments to enhance public sector governance effectiveness.

Abstract

This study explores character-centric leadership, focusing on Pancasila and Astha Brata principles, to address global challenges like climate change. Using Kevin Cashman’s "Inside Out" approach, it examines how nature-inspired qualities—adaptability, cooperation, wisdom, and environmental respect—shape ethical leadership. Qualitative interviews with four experts highlight the integration of these values into leadership practices. Findings emphasize the importance of self-awareness, spiritual wisdom, and environmental ethics in fostering sustainable leadership. The research underscores the need for education systems to instill these values early, nurturing future leaders who prioritize humanity, diversity, and sustainability. This holistic approach aligns cultural values with modern leadership demands, offering solutions for complex global issues. The study also highlights the role of green policies and technological adaptation in addressing climate change. By combining Pancasila’s ethical framework, Astha Brata’s cultural guidance, and Cashman’s psychological insights, this research provides a comprehensive model for effective, value-driven leadership. These insights aim to inspire leaders to balance innovation with ecological responsibility, promoting long-term societal well-being.

Abstract

The phenomenon of emotional incongruence in Dangdut Koplo, where cheerful melodies are paired with sorrowful lyrics, creates a unique cognitive dissonance that challenges listeners' emotional processing. This juxtaposition is prominent in Didi Kempot's works, blending lively rhythms with melancholic themes of heartbreak and longing. Such contrasting elements evoke strong emotional responses, making the genre a compelling subject for psychological exploration. This study pioneers exploring emotional incongruence in Dangdut Koplo, aiming to replicate and expand upon Stratton and Zalanowski’s findings. Using a quasi-experimental design, 55 psychology students were assessed with PANAS before and after listening to four songs by Didi Kempot. Results revealed a significant increase in Negative Affect (NA) post-exposure, while Positive Affect (PA) remained stable. Regression analysis demonstrated lyrical content had a stronger impact than melody on mood shifts. Participants who related to the lyrics experienced more pronounced negative emotions. Age and gender significantly influenced reactions, highlighting personal and cultural factors. This study provides insights into music's psychological mechanisms and implications for music therapy across diverse cultural contexts.

Abstract

Work engagement has become a critical factor in maintaining organizational performance, particularly in the context of unprecedented global challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic. This study investigates the key drivers of work engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic and their relevance in the post-pandemic era. Using a cross-sectional design, a structural model was developed based on the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model, incorporating job satisfaction as a moderating variable between organizational-personal factors and work engagement. Data were collected from 1,484 public sector employees in Indonesia and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that organizational-personal factors significantly influence job satisfaction and work engagement. Job satisfaction also moderates the relationship between these factors and work engagement, enhancing its impact. The findings highlight the importance of prioritizing health support, skill development, and work-life balance to boost employee motivation and engagement. This research contributes to understanding the evolving dynamics of work engagement amidst global crises and provides actionable insights for human resource management practices. The study underscores the need for adaptive strategies to maintain employee well-being and productivity in changing work environments.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is a notable impact associated with the usage of these platforms metaverse. This study focuses on assessing the FoMO levels among university students and examines variations based on age, gender, and specific FoMO indicators. Adopting a quantitative methodology with a descriptive approach, the research involved 346 students aged 18 to 24. The findings revealed that the highest level of FoMO was classified as high, at 59.5%. Among these, female students exhibited a higher prevalence of FoMO at 68%, compared to their male counterparts at 48%, who fell into the medium category. The most significant FoMO indicator was the urge to check updates on social media. The study concluded that FoMO levels among students are predominantly high, with minor age-related variations. Gender-wise, a distinction was noted where females showed higher levels of FoMO than males. The compulsion to monitor social media updates emerged as the most prominent FoMO descriptor.

Abstract

The very fast development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) in the last decade have changed the way of mental health practice internationally, including Indonesia. Although these technologies extend reach, deepen therapeutic engagement, and facilitate clinical analysis, they also present serious ethical challenges with respect to privacy, algorithmic bias, depersonalization, and disparity. This integrative review draws on literature from counseling, digital ethics, immersive technologies, and Indonesian philosophical studies to consider how Pancasila can serve as a culturally situated ethical guide for technology-mediated counseling. The results disclose four overarching themes: shifting role of counseling through intelligent and immersive technologies; nascent ethical issues; the salience of Pancasila’s principles to digital morality; and formation of a Pancasila-Based Digital Counseling Ethical Framework (P-DCEF). In this scheme, human dignity, relational integrity, social justice and transparent governance are placed at the heart of ethical digital counseling. It is the reviewer's opinion that embedding technological innovation in national philosophical principles would be imperative to ensuring digital counseling in Indonesia remains humane, just and culturally consistent, bringing a distinct ethical perspective to conversations around mental-health technologies worldwide.

Abstract

Aggressive behavior begins to emerge in early childhood as part of social-emotional development and is closely associated with self-regulation capacity. If not appropriately addressed, aggressive behavior may persist and have negative implications for later academic success. This study aimed to (1) describe the profile of aggressive behavior in preschool children and (2) explore this profile in relation to children’s self-regulation abilities based on teachers’ observations. This study employed a mixed-methods design using a concurrent embedded model. The research population consisted of 877 children aged 4–6 years, with total population sampling applied. Quantitative data were collected using an aggressiveness scale, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with five teachers selected based on children classified in the moderate and high aggression categories. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, whereas qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings indicate that aggressive behavior among children was generally low, with 63.4% of children classified in the low aggression category and only one child in the high aggression category. Emotional aggression—such as anger, crying, and expressions of dislike—was the most dominant form. Children’s aggression was predominantly reactive, triggered by frustration, peer conflict, competition over toys, or unmet desires. Verbal and physical aggression emerged in specific contexts, particularly among children with lower self-regulation abilities.
