Abstract

Scabies is one of the most neglected tropical diseases. Scabies is contagious and spreads quickly due to the use of shared personal items, improper prevention and control, and unhealthy environmental conditions. This condition can be prevented if the community knows the characteristics and how to prevent and control scabies. Based on these conditions, the purpose of implementing this activity is to increase the knowledge of people with scabies about how to prevent scabies. The lecture method was used to deliver health education materials on the prevention of scabies. Respondents' knowledge was evaluated by comparing the mean scores of pre-test and post-test. Based on the Wilcoxon test results, there was a significant difference between the mean pre-test and post-test knowledge scores (p-value 0.05). In the short term, health education results in a change or increase in knowledge, but if given continuously and sustainably, it will affect behavior as a medium-term impact.

Abstract

Typhoid fever remains a public health issue in Indonesia, especially among elementary school children who are vulnerable due to poor hygiene habits, particularly not washing hands. Traditional education methods often fail to change children's behavior, so more engaging and interactive approaches are needed. This activity aimed to improve handwashing behavior through educational games. A quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design was used. The intervention involved 40 students from SDN 1 Dono, Tulungagung, using games like hygiene-themed snakes and ladders and handwashing step cards. Evaluation was conducted through pretest and posttest assessments and group discussions with teachers. Results showed a significant improvement in the intervention group from 70% (poor category) to 83% (good category), with a p-value of 0.000. In contrast, the control group showed no significant change (p = 0.213). Educational games proved effective in improving students’ handwashing behavior and can be a preventive strategy against typhoid fever in schools.

Abstract

Biological specimen preservation techniques have an important role in supporting educational, research and conservation activities. However, conventional methods using harmful chemicals like formalin pose risks to health and the environment. This community service activity aimed to introduce environmentally friendly wet preservation techniques for marine invertebrates and algae as safer alternatives. The program consisted of three sessions: theoretical training, practical demonstrations, and fieldwork in coastal areas. A total of 47 biology education students (class of 2023) participated, successfully collecting and preserving 15 specimens using eco-friendly materials such as 70% ethanol and glycerin. Evaluation showed the preserved specimens maintained good quality and were suitable as biology learning media. Additionally, the activity increased participants’ awareness of marine biodiversity conservation and provided tangible support for sustainable, eco-conscious biology education.

Abstract

The STEAM approach has been adapted to the characteristics of PAUD learning, but there are still many teachers who fail to understand, develop and innovate this approach to make it easier for children to use. The goal of STEAM outcomes is for children to acquire the 4C skills, which are the four skills that are very important in modern life in the 21st century. This corresponds to the partner's problem: qualitatively, only a small percentage of teachers understand STEAM concepts but still have difficulty providing instruction to their children. To implement STEAM in PAUD-based learning, both partners need additional knowledge and skills. The training was carried out for two days, the training participants for this activity reached 53 participants. During the activity, two PG PAUD students were assisted. The result of this training is a change in knowledge and understanding of the preparation of teaching modules for the Merdeka Curriculum using the STEAM approach as part of teacher competency to be able to carry out learning practices using the STEAM approach in the Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

After observing the PKM proposal, there are still many proposals that do not comply with the writing guidelines such as attachments, bibliography, budget plans and basic things such as paper size, margins, fonts do not comply with the guidelines. From this case, it becomes one of the problems why very few proposals pass from Amikom Purwokerto University. The PKM proposal assessment consists of 2 stages. The first stage is administrative selection and the second stage is substance selection. Based on interviews with national PKM reviewers, almost 60% of all PKM proposals submitted failed at the administrative selection stage. In addition, in the process of uploading PKM proposals to the system, many students do not understand the stages of filling in the system. The purpose of this assistance is to reduce the error rate of PKM proposals made by students. The stages of implementing assistance include assistance in making proposals, assistance in managing the Simbelmawa system, evaluation and discussion. The results of the assistance are that many student proposals are in accordance with the 2025 PKM guidelines.
