Abstract

Rice farming remains a vital sector for rural communities in Indonesia, but dependence on conventional systems has resulted in low productivity and economic instability for farmers. This activity aims to introduce the Rice-Duck-Turi (RDT) system as a sustainable Integrated Farming System (IFS) model applied to the Karya Makmur Farmer Group in Air Satan Village, Musi Rawas Regency. This approach integrates rice cultivation with duck farming in the fields and the planting of turi (Sesbania spp) on the embankments. The research method used a participatory approach through socialization, training, mentoring, and field evaluation activities. The results of this activity show that the Paitri system can reduce the use of chemical fertilizers by up to 25% and provide additional income through duck egg and meat production. The integration of turi plays a role in providing natural organic fertilizer and forage, while also improving soil fertility. This system also strengthens social solidarity and economic independence among farmers through mutual assistance and collective learning. The implementation of the Paitri system has proven to be an efficient, environmentally friendly, and economically valuable sustainable agricultural innovation that can be replicated in other rural areas to strengthen local food security.

Abstract

This Community Service Program aimed to introduce the concept of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), particularly arbitration, as a preventive approach in managing business dispute risks within micro, small, and medium-scale culinary enterprises. Culinary-based MSMEs generally rely on trust and informal communication in their commercial transactions, making them vulnerable to conflicts arising from differences in interpretation, delayed payments, price changes, or contract breaches. Through this program, participants were provided with knowledge of the legal position of arbitration as a dispute-resolution forum outside the state court system, the final and binding nature of arbitral awards, and the importance of incorporating simple arbitration clauses into business agreements as a tool for dispute prevention. The activity was implemented using a combination of lecture, discussion, and question-and-answer methods. The results show that participants demonstrated a high level of interest due to limited access to information related to non-litigation dispute resolution mechanisms. Participants also acknowledged that inserting simple arbitration clauses—even in order forms commonly used in day-to-day operations—constitutes a realistic approach. This program has encouraged an increased awareness of the need for more structured contractual practices as part of improving business governance among MSMEs. It is expected that this knowledge could stimulate MSMEs to develop transactional systems that not only rely on trust but are also equipped with adequate preventive instruments, thereby strengthening the stability, security, and competitiveness of their business practices.

Abstract

Untung Jawa Island in the Thousand Islands has excellent potential for developing family-based marine tourism, including beaches, mangrove ecotourism, and fishing activities that are attractive to both local and international tourists. However, the low digital literacy of the community is a significant obstacle to optimizing tourism promotion and boosting the local economy. This condition leads to the community's dependence on external agents and limits the competitiveness of Untung Jawa Island as a tourist destination compared to other tourist islands in the Thousand Islands. Therefore, this Community Service activity aims to enhance the digital literacy capacity of tourism managers, fishermen, and local artisans through training on creating promotional content, utilizing social media, and managing sustainable family tourism packages. The implementation method uses a participatory approach, including coordination, training, mentoring, and evaluation stages. The activity intervention also includes the installation of eight fish aggregating devices (FADs) as family-friendly fishing spots and a means of restoring fish habitats degraded due to coral reef damage. The results of the activity show an improvement in participants' skills in creating digital content (photos, videos, and promotional narratives), the formation of a local creative group called Digital Ranger, and increased community involvement in online tourism promotion. In conclusion, the synergy between physical innovation through the development of marine tourism facilities and the strengthening of digital literacy can empower communities in managing tourism destinations. The novelty of this activity lies in the integration between the installation of artificial reefs as an ecotourism innovation and community-based digital literacy training, making Untung Jawa Island a model for developing competitive and sustainable coastal digital tourism villages.

Abstract

This research was conducted to explore the environment and culture of Tobongon Boltim village. This research also aligns with the theme assigned by the university to our Community Service Program students. We used observational, ethnographic, and historical methods. We used observational methods, observing directly how the community engages in gardening and plastic waste processing. In addition to observational methods, we also employed ethnographic methods, focusing on the community and specific groups in understanding natural or non-chemical pesticides. Furthermore, we used historical methods, which involved listening to stories from local residents who frequently visited our post. Using these three methods, we discovered that the Tobongon village community rarely uses natural pesticides and disposes of a lot of used cooking oil, which then hardens and clogs the drains. We also heard that children in Tobongon village hold daily TPQ (Quran study parks) during the day. Therefore, we took the initiative to create Syu'batul al-Lughatul Arabiyah in the afternoons to help the children learn to write the hijaiyah letters correctly. In addition to teaching the hijaiyah alphabet, we also teach Arabic vocabulary to familiarize them with vocabulary in other languages. Throughout our work program, the Tobongon village community has been very enthusiastic and has provided significant assistance. Nearly all of our programs have been implemented successfully.
