Abstract

This study investigates the implementation of Lewin’s Change Management Model in managing institutional transformation at Pondok Pesantren Diniyah Putri Lampung, a faith-based Islamic educational institution navigating digital era challenges. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research collected data through interviews, observations, document analysis, and teacher surveys to explore how the unfreezing, moving, and refreezing phases were adapted within the pesantren’s Islamic value system. The findings reveal that change was initiated through reflective awareness and spiritual framing, presenting digital transformation as a form of tajdid (renewal) rooted in religious duty. Strategic actions in the moving phase included teacher training, e-learning integration, and moral validation of digital content, while the refreezing stage saw institutionalization through updated policies, mentoring networks, and embedding Qur’anic values in daily digital practices. The study demonstrates that Lewin’s model can be effectively contextualized in Islamic settings through value-based leadership and culturally grounded strategies. It concludes that sustainable change in pesantren requires moral legitimacy, participatory engagement, and alignment between innovation and tradition. These findings contribute to broader theoretical discourse on managing educational change in faith-based environments and offer practical recommendations for Islamic educational leaders seeking modernization without compromising their spiritual identity.

Abstract

Issues of gender inequality and violence against women remain significant challenges across various societal strata, even within communities that strongly uphold religious values. This research critically re-examines Surah al-Nisa’ verse 34 through the lens of feminist tafsir (exegesis). Its aim is to deconstruct imbalanced gender relations and analyze their implications for structural violence experienced by women in Muslim societies. This particular verse is often used as a theological justification for male dominance over women in domestic and social spheres, thereby potentially perpetuating gender-based inequality and violence. The study employs feminist gender hermeneutics, utilizing a critical approach to both the text and its context, along with an analysis of the socio-cultural constructions that inform traditional interpretations. This research emphasizes the importance of reading the text with a strong bias towards gender justice and the protection of women's rights, considering the verse's historical, linguistic, and social backgrounds. The findings indicate that traditional interpretations of this verse are often patriarchally biased, positioning men as absolute leaders and women as subordinates. However, through a feminist tafsir approach, the verse can be read as an invitation to foster harmony and reciprocal responsibility in marital relationships, rather than as a legitimization of violence or dominance. This study asserts the critical need for a reformation of Islamic exegetical paradigms towards greater gender justice to support the formation of social systems free from violence and discrimination against women. Such reinterpretation also contributes to progressive Islamic legal discourse that protects women's rights and encourages religious and educational institutions to adopt more critical and contextual approaches to religious texts.

Abstract

The digitalization of learning has become inevitable in the technological era, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at Islamic universities. This study aims to analyze the impact of the digitalization of PAI learning on improving students' religious literacy. The approach used was descriptive qualitative, using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques with lecturers and students at private Islamic universities. The results show that the digitalization of learning contributes positively to improving students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects in understanding and practicing Islamic values. Students gain access to broader and more interactive materials, as well as flexible learning that adapts to their life contexts. This transformation also encourages changes in learning patterns, leading to more independent and reflective learning. PAI lecturers are also required to be able to adapt learning methods by utilizing digital technology creatively. However, several obstacles remain, such as limited devices, internet infrastructure, and low digital literacy among some students. Therefore, adaptive learning strategies, technology training for lecturers, and strengthening student learning motivation are needed so that the digitalization process truly supports the strengthening of religious literacy holistically and sustainably.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover the process of moral formation of students at the Darussalam Gontor Modern Islamic Boarding School, Campus 9, Sulit Air, Solok, and to identify various obstacles and supporting factors that influence it. This study is a field study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and used the snowball sampling method in determining informants. Data sources include the Head of the Islamic Boarding School, the Boarding School Teacher Advisory Board (Syeikh Rayon), Senior Students (Mudabbir), and students residing in the Syanggit Dormitory. The results of the study indicate that the process of moral formation of students is carried out comprehensively through two main channels, namely education in the classroom through Islamic subjects rich in moral content, and educational activities outside the classroom such as sports, speeches, and worship activities that shape the character and personality of students. The obstacles faced in this process include differences in student backgrounds, limited time and supervision, lack of student discipline, motivational crisis, psychological pressure, and minimal support from parents. On the other hand, there are several supporting factors, such as synergy and collaboration between students, the Mudabbir (Islamic youth leader), and homeroom teachers, as well as the active involvement of parents and teachers in fostering students' morals. These findings provide an important starting point for future researchers exploring similar issues in broader contexts and issues.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe how the application of the Picture and Picture learning model can help improve students' learning outcomes in the Islamic Cultural History (SKI) lesson. The Picture and Picture model is an approach in cooperative learning that uses pictures as a medium to invite students to interact in the learning process. This study was conducted using the classroom action research (CAR) method in two cycles. The subjects of this study were grade VII students at one of the Madrasah Tsanawiyah. The data collection tools used were observation, interviews, and learning capacity tests carried out by students. The first result found in this study was that Picture and Picture can motivate and improve understanding of Islamic history material in an introspective manner. This increase is substantive, namely an increase in expected values, and process, namely, active student involvement during teaching. Therefore, Picture and Picture should be used in teaching SKI because it is varied and not boring.
