Abstract

Road transportation plays a crucial role in supporting human mobility and the distribution of goods; however, traffic accidents remain a serious issue, particularly in urban areas with high activity levels. Yos Sudarso Road in Balikpapan City is a strategic corridor connecting major industrial zones with other key areas, resulting in complex traffic conditions and elevated accident risks. This situation highlights the need for a systematic analysis of traffic accidents along this roadway. The purpose of this study is to examine accident patterns, determine accident-prone conditions, and identify the main factors contributing to traffic accidents on Yos Sudarso Road. The research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data consisting of traffic accident records, road geometric data, location maps, and average daily traffic volumes from 2019 to 2023. Data analysis is conducted using the Accident Equivalent Number (AEN) method to assess accident severity and identify high-risk periods. The results indicate that traffic accidents fluctuate annually, with the highest AEN value recorded in 2022, reflecting a significant increase in accident severity during that year. Further analysis reveals that traffic accidents are predominantly influenced by unsafe rider behavior, inadequate road conditions due to surface damage, and environmental factors such as insufficient street lighting. In conclusion, Yos Sudarso Road can be classified as an accident-prone roadway. Therefore, integrated efforts are required, including infrastructure improvement, enhancement of road user awareness, and consistent law enforcement, to effectively reduce accident risks and improve overall traffic safety on this corridor.

Abstract

On-street parking problems along roads can have a significant impact on traffic performance, especially in terms of congestion and road capacity. Vehicles parked on the road cause side obstacles, reduce traffic flow, and worsen road conditions. This study aims to evaluate the impact of on-street parking on traffic performance on Jalan Indrakila, Balikpapan City. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a case study. Primary data was obtained through field surveys that included measurements of traffic volume, lateral obstructions, and vehicle travel time. Secondary data in the form of literature and supporting documents was used to analyze road capacity and calculate the level of service. The results show that on-street parking on Jalan Indrakila causes a significant decrease in road capacity, with a degree of saturation reaching 0.8 in conditions with parking and 0.5 in conditions without parking. High side obstructions in this area also contribute to the decline in road performance. In conclusion, better parking management and careful planning are essential to reduce negative impacts on traffic and support smooth mobility and local economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of gratitude journals on self-acceptance among female adolescents with negative body image at SMA Negeri 5 Makassar. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, involving 10 subjects in the experimental group who received intervention for 14 days and 10 subjects in the control group who did not receive intervention. Data were collected using Berger's self-acceptance scale and Thomas F. Cash's Multidimensional Body Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS) for body image. Data analysis was performed using paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests. The results showed a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental group (p = 0.002 < 0.05) with an average score increase from 67.30 to 78.00. In addition, the results of the independent sample t-test showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the post-test (p = 0.027 < 0.05), where the average score of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group. These findings indicate that gratitude journals have a positive effect on the self-acceptance of adolescent girls with negative body image.

Abstract

Firm value is an important indicator for investors in assessing a company’s performance and future prospects. In recent years, fluctuations in firm value within the consumer non-cyclicals sector in Indonesia have attracted attention, particularly in relation to financial performance, corporate governance mechanisms, and the application of accounting prudence. This study aims to analyze the determinants of firm value by examining financial performance, audit committee characteristics, and prudence as influencing factors. The research employs a quantitative approach using secondary data obtained from companies in the consumer non-cyclicals sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the period 2020–2024. The population consists of all firms in the sector, with a final sample of 21 companies selected, resulting in 105 firm-year financial statement observations. Descriptive statistical analysis and multiple regression analysis are applied to test the proposed hypotheses. The data are processed using EViews version 12. The results indicate that financial performance, audit committee, and prudence simultaneously have a significant effect on firm value. However, partial testing shows that financial performance does not have a significant effect on firm value, while the audit committee has a significant positive effect. Prudence, on the other hand, does not significantly influence firm value. These findings suggest that corporate governance, particularly the role of the audit committee, plays a more critical role in enhancing firm value than financial performance and accounting prudence in the observed sector.
