Abstract

In the era of the Covid-19 pandemic, distance or online learning has become the primary method used by the government, in this case the Ministry of Education and Culture, to prevent the increasing number of Covid-19 viruses and the emergence of clusters in schools. In online learning, PAK teachers in their multifunctional role need to apply contextual learning strategies so that teaching and learning activities can take place in a systematic, directed, unobstructed, effective and efficient manner and can achieve educational targets. Contextual learning is a learning strategy that emphasizes the process of student involvement to achieve goals associated with real-life situations. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and data collection is done by interview and documentation as well as relevant literature. The results of the study on some high achieving students' motivation and interest in learning increased with the online learning method after the Christian Religious Education teacher carried out the role optimally by using contextual learning strategies.

Abstract

In the history of Islam, in the classical era, radicalism has existed, so it is not a new phenomenon in the modern age. Since the time of the Caliph Umar radicalism has emerged, but not yet organized, only in the time of the Caliph Ali bin Abu Talib this movement began to be systemized and organized through a Khawarij theological movement with its radical and uncompromising understanding of various acts of violence to oppose the tahkim or arbitration between the caliphs. Ali ibn Abi Talib and Muawiyah. Arbitration takes place in the context of the Shiffin war in which the khawarij group considers those who agreed to deviate from Islamic teachings. Later in Cairo an organization that had the same characteristics as the khawarij emerged, who wanted the authenticity of the teachings of Islam in the form of literal interpretation, without compromise, softening or reduction or reinterpretation. In filling out theological studies related to radicalism, this research was made to analyze "The relationship between radical genealogists in the classical period and the contemporary era in interpreting the Qur'an literally" At the end of the analysis will discuss the deconstruction of jihad as an effort to explain the meaning of jihad from various paradigms.

Abstract

The First Epistle of Peter was written in the context of the suffering of believers in Asia Minor who faced pressure and persecution because of their faith. This study aims to examine the pastoral messages in 1 Peter 1:3–12 as Peter's strategy in strengthening the congregation and exploring its implications for Christian counseling ministry today, especially for believers who are suffering. Using bibliographic study and biblical exegesis methods, this study analyzes the theological and pastoral meaning of the text, viewed from historical, literary, and contextual perspectives. The results of the study show that Peter emphasizes three main points: the certainty of salvation in Christ, the hope of eternal life, and Christ's example in facing suffering. Peter's pastoral message can be the basis for supportive Christian counseling, which is to help believers focus on Christ, maintain hope, and build steadfast faith so that they will not waver even when under pressure in life. Thus, 1 Peter is relevant as a guide for pastoral counseling that strengthens faith in the midst of suffering.

Abstract

Interpreters often view the book of Psalms as a collection of liturgical songs used in temple worship. While this perspective is not incorrect, it has led to a tendency to interpret each psalm in isolation, without considering its relationship to other psalms in the book. This research introduces a broader perspective, suggesting that the book of Psalms is not merely a compilation of individual songs but rather an intentionally arranged collection with a unified structural pattern culminating in Psalm 150. In this sense, Psalms 1 to 150 can be seen as a series of milestones leading to this peak. To fully grasp the message of a particular psalm, it is necessary not only to interpret it individually but also to examine its placement within the overall structure of the book and its function within the larger sequence arranged by the editor.

Abstract

This article describes the problem of how the Bible as the word of God is interpreted contextually for theology in Indonesia. The method used in this article is to explore contextual theological models and to have a reciprocal, constructive and dialectical dialogue between the Bible and dogma (the universal tradition) as well as the actual beliefs of the community (local traditions). The result of this research is that the meaning of God in the Bible will have a liberating and humanizing power if the meaning of God is not applied directly but in dialogue with the actual beliefs of the community where the Bible is read and preached.
Menggali Makna dan Implikasi Ut Omnes Unum Sint di Yohanes 17:20-23 Serta Implementasinya Dalam Realitas Kehidupan Gereja: Exploring the Meaning and Implications of Ut Omnes Unum Sint in John 17:20–23 and Its Implementation in the Reality of Church Life Musa Haisoo; Iswahyudi Iswahyudi; Sutrisno Sutrisno; Bobby Kurnia Putrawan

Abstract

The “oneness of the church” is a struggle that gets attention in the intercession of the Lord Jesus, in John 17:20-23. “That they may all become one…” (ut omnes unum sint). The oneness of the church was implemented quite well in the early church. At that time the church lived all together and in the spirit of serving each other. However, conditions began to change when schism hit the church in the fifth century. Schism after schism which continues to last has damaged the harmony of inter-church relations, bringing forth attitudes and points of exclusivism towards one another. This condition is a fundamental obstacle in the efforts to uphold the church's oneness through the Oikoumene Movement. By using a qualitative research method, with a hermeneutical approach, the author attempts to explore the meaning of ut omnes unum sint based on the text of John 17:20-23. The author finds a fact that the oneness of the church desired by the Lord Jesus follows the pattern of the Trinity and that the Head of the Church stakes His glory above the oneness of His church. Therefore, the church needs to be aware of its responsibility to implement the hope in the intercession of the Lord Jesus by cultivating attitudes and inclusive points of view of one another.

Abstract

Male circumcision is often practiced across the world for a variety of reasons including health, medical necessity, beauty, tradition, or religion. Jews have practiced male circumcision since Abraham's time and continue until now. This practice is obligatory for Jewish males soon after they are born. In the New Testament, we read Paul talks about circumcision as the practice of Jewish belief, and for Christians, he said spiritual circumcision is the new law of the New Testament. Now, male circumcision is not only related to religion, and culture but connect to the health issue. The interpretation of religion, culture, and health become an interpretation debate over many years. There is Circumcision either improves or decreases male sexual function or satisfaction. It is critical to understand how male circumcision (MC), especially when performed in childhood, impacts men's sexual satisfaction and performance. The topic is also quite contentious. Our objective is to give a comprehensive study of the studies on the influence of male circumcision from Jewish, Christian, and health interpretations.

Abstract

Tithing is a practice that has long been debated among Christians, especially regarding its relevance and theological meaning in the Old Testament. Many Christians give tithes without fully understanding the biblical foundation and spiritual significance behind it. This study aims to explore the theological meaning of tithing in the Old Testament and its implications for Christian life today. The research uses a qualitative literature review method, analyzing biblical texts (Genesis, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Malachi) and relevant scholarly works on tithing. The results reveal four main theological meanings: (1) tithing as an expression of gratitude for what one possesses; (2) withholding tithes as an act of rebellion against God; (3) tithing as an acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty over all possessions; and (4) tithing as having eternal value, rooted in faith, covenant, and compassion for the poor. The study concludes that tithing is not merely a legal obligation but a spiritual discipline that reflects a believer’s relationship with God and commitment to social justice. Contribution: This study contributes a comprehensive theological framework of tithing in the Old Testament, clarifying its fourfold meaning and demonstrating that tithing is an eternal principle of gratitude, covenant loyalty, and compassion, not merely a ceremonial law.

Abstract

Abstract The Pentecostal Church was originally thought to be a movement. It is said to be a movement, because at first the Pentecostal church emphasized life experiences. Seeing this, the theologians say that the Pentecostal church does not have a theology which is, how theology is christian, logical, and systematic. In later developments, the Pentecostal church was accepted among denominations of Christian churches in general and standardized the doctrines of the Pentecostal church in the form of Pentecostal theology. So that Pentecostal theology can be taught and studied by Pentecostal people and denominations of non-Pentecostal churches. In this article, the author brings up some of the core thoughts of Pentecostal theology, namely the Bible, the living and true God, salvation, baptism, tongues, holy communion, holiness of life and holistic behavior, divine healing, eschatology, church, and worship and liturgy.
