Abstract

Analysis on Geometry Mathematics Textbooks for Grade 5 of Elementary Schools in Malaysia, China, and Indonesia.  Objectives: This research analyzes the differences in the geometry material presented to grade 5 students of elementary schools and determines the characteristics of the questions in mathematics textbooks. Methodes: The content analysis compared the geometry materials in the best mathematics textbooks widely used in grade 5 of elementary schools in Indonesia, Malaysia, and China. The analysis discussed several important points on geometry material, including sub-chapter, chapter content, and the presentation of practice questions. Findings: The results show that 66.36% of questions in the Indonesian textbook asked about knowing, 24.54% applying, and 0.09% reasoning. In the Malaysian textbook, 71.42% of questions asked focused knowing, 23.8% applying, and 4.76% reasoning. Furthermore, 49.6% of questions in the Chinese textbooks asked about knowing, 30.4% applying, and 20% reasoning. Conclusions: questions on knowing had the highest percentage in the Indonesian and Malaysian textbooks but balanced in Chinese. Keywords: mathematics, geometry, indonesian, malaysian, Chinese.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i1.202210

Abstract

Abstract: Implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in Mathematics Learning at Elementary Schools. Objectives: This study aims to examine the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in enhancing the potential of mathematics learning in elementary schools in Kebumen Regency. Methods: The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods. Participants of this study were teachers and principals in 5 elementary schools recruited through purposive sampling techniques. Data were garnered through observation, interviews, and documentary studies. Interviews were conducted with educators and school principals. The data analysis technique consists of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Findings: The results of the study indicate that: (1) the planning of mathematics learning in Kurikulum Merdeka is prepared by teachers through informal learning and collaboration with peers; (2) the implementation of mathematics learning in Kurikulum Merdeka is still in the stage of adapting various teaching experiences of teachers; (3) the evaluation of mathematics learning in Kurikulum Merdeka already uses diverse evaluation tools and types of questions. Conclusion: This study concludes that the implementation of the mathematics learning involves planning with informal learning methods, adapting the implementation of learning, and various evaluation methods. Keywords: kurikulum merdeka; mathematics; elementary school; qualitative phenomenology.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i1.202440

Abstract

Enhancing Mathematics Reasoning: Integrating Realistic Geometry with Interactive Multimedia. Objectives: This study is motivated by the importance of students' mathematical reasoning abilities. The aim of this research is to compare the mathematical reasoning skills of students who receive instruction through the Realistic Geometry model supported by interactive multimedia with those who undergo conventional teaching. Methods: The research method employed is a quasi-experimental design using the Static Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population for this study consists of students from SD 37 Pekanbaru, with the sample including 30 students from class IVa as the experimental group and 30 students from class IVd as the control group.  Findings: The results indicate that students who engaged in the Realistic Geometry instruction with interactive multimedia demonstrated superior mathematical reasoning abilities compared to those who experienced conventional learning. The quality of improvement in both approaches is interpreted as moderate. Conclusion: Overall, the integration of realistic geometry with interactive multimedia Learning Application can enhance students’s abilities in mathematical reasoning. Keywords: geometry realistic, interactive multimedia, mathematics reasoning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v14.i3.2024105
