Abstract

In the digital era, computational thinking skills are essential for students to succeed in science education, including physics. However, traditional teaching methods often fail to cultivate these skills effectively. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the problem-solving laboratory learning model in enhancing students' computational thinking skills, specifically in alternating current electricity topics. The research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach, involving 35 twelfth-grade students from a public high school in Banjar City, West Java, Indonesia. Data were collected using observation sheets to assess problem-solving laboratory implementation and computational thinking skill tests. The problem-solving laboratory model was implemented effectively, achieving an average implementation success rate of 78.4%. The analysis revealed a significant improvement in students' computational thinking skills, with an average N-gain score of 0.73, categorized as high. Among the computational thinking indicators, abstraction showed the highest improvement, followed by decomposition, data analysis, pattern recognition, and algorithmic thinking. These results suggest that the problem-solving laboratory model provides an effective framework for fostering computational thinking skills through hands-on problem-solving activities and structured learning processes. The study recommends integrating the problem-solving laboratory model into other physics topics and broader educational contexts to enhance students' 21st-century competencies. Future research should consider incorporating control groups and extending the scope to explore long-term impacts across diverse learning environments.

Abstract

The transformation of 21st-century education requires assessment systems that not only measure cognitive achievement but also foster deep and meaningful learning. Current practices, however, remain dominated by summative tests that emphasize memorization and fail to capture students’ holistic development. To address this gap, this article introduces the Authentic Assessment Based on Teaching and Learning Trajectory (AABTLT) as a conceptual model for sustainable assessment integrated into the learning process. AABTLT aligns learning objectives, instructional activities, and authentic assessment along structured learning trajectories, enabling teachers to monitor students’ progressive development through contextual and formative feedback. Developed through a comprehensive literature review and synthesis of studies on authentic assessment, learning trajectories, and deep learning, this model highlights the importance of assessment as a driver of learning rather than a terminal evaluation tool. The novelty of AABTLT lies in its integrative approach, combining authentic tasks, developmental indicators, and reflective practices to strengthen student engagement, critical thinking, and creativity. Its practical implications include clear guidelines for designing assessment instruments aligned with 21st-century skills and strategies for supporting teachers in formative evaluation. Future empirical research is recommended to validate the effectiveness of AABTLT in science education and interdisciplinary contexts.

Abstract

Physics learning is oriented to the facts contained in natural phenomena in the surrounding environment. An earthquake disaster is a related event involving many physics concepts in terms of processes and other points of view. Indonesia is a region that feels in the ring of the fire zone, which causes several areas in Indonesia to be prone to earthquakes. Therefore, a general and initial description is needed to explain the profile of students' scientific literacy abilities because not a few victims swallowed by the earthquake were educated people. The method used in this research is pre-experimental by distributing questionnaires containing questions related to four aspects of scientific literacy regarding earthquakes and their mitigation efforts. The sample of this research is 30 students in class XI IPA 2 at MAN 1 Kuningan in the 2021/2022 academic year. Overall, the scientific literacy ability of students at MAN 1 Kuningan is still relatively low. The results of this study are expected to be used as a primary reference in making models, media, or teaching and enrichment materials that contain natural earthquake events related to their physical concepts.

Abstract

Publications on gender and spirituality have been prominently featured in many journals indexed by various databases. This article employs bibliometric analysis to investigate publication trends on gender and spiritual issues in literary studies within the Scopus database. This research utilized the VOSviewer application to analyze keyword co-authorship, co-occurrence, and citations. The bibliographic data for this study were downloaded from the Scopus database on January 8, 2024, with a search restriction over the last ten years between 2014 and 2023, and under two fields: 1) social sciences and 2) arts and humanities. The results show that of the 34 eligible publications, there are four main highlights. First, the co-authorship of research publications is relatively low and is only undertaken by a few researchers. Second, the co-occurrence of keywords reveals three main research trends over these ten years: gender-based experiences and practices, gender-based concepts, and religion and spirituality. However, keywords related to literary criticism did not appear. Third, the number of citations for documents is uneven and is dominated only by certain authors, affiliations, and countries. Lastly, network visualization reveals limited interconnectivity between topics, such as gender spirituality and literature. These results conclude that interdisciplinary research in the field of literary criticism remains widely open to address existing research gaps and encourage researchers to collaborate on related topics.
