Abstract

The transformation of 21st-century education requires assessment systems that not only measure cognitive achievement but also foster deep and meaningful learning. Current practices, however, remain dominated by summative tests that emphasize memorization and fail to capture students’ holistic development. To address this gap, this article introduces the Authentic Assessment Based on Teaching and Learning Trajectory (AABTLT) as a conceptual model for sustainable assessment integrated into the learning process. AABTLT aligns learning objectives, instructional activities, and authentic assessment along structured learning trajectories, enabling teachers to monitor students’ progressive development through contextual and formative feedback. Developed through a comprehensive literature review and synthesis of studies on authentic assessment, learning trajectories, and deep learning, this model highlights the importance of assessment as a driver of learning rather than a terminal evaluation tool. The novelty of AABTLT lies in its integrative approach, combining authentic tasks, developmental indicators, and reflective practices to strengthen student engagement, critical thinking, and creativity. Its practical implications include clear guidelines for designing assessment instruments aligned with 21st-century skills and strategies for supporting teachers in formative evaluation. Future empirical research is recommended to validate the effectiveness of AABTLT in science education and interdisciplinary contexts.

Abstract

Electromagnetism is a fundamental yet challenging topic in high school physics, as students often struggle to develop deep conceptual understanding through conventional lecture-based instruction. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of clicker-assisted Peer Instruction (PI) in improving students’ understanding of electromagnetism concepts. A quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was employed involving two intact grade-11 classes (N = 58). The experimental group was taught using Peer Instruction supported by clickers, while the control group received conventional lecture-based instruction over a four-week period. Data were collected using a 25-item conceptual test with a reliability coefficient (KR-20) of 0.82. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, independent-samples t-test, ANCOVA with pretest scores as covariates, and effect size calculation using Hedges’ g. The results show that the experimental group achieved a significantly higher normalized gain (〈g〉 = 0.62) compared to the control group (〈g〉 = 0.35). Statistical analysis revealed a highly significant difference between groups (p < 0.001) with a very large effect size (Hedges g = 1.64). The findings indicate that clicker-assisted Peer Instruction not only enhances conceptual understanding but also reduces performance variability among students. In conclusion, the integration of clickers within the Peer Instruction framework is highly effective in improving students’ conceptual mastery of electromagnetism. This approach is recommended as an alternative instructional strategy to promote active learning and meaningful engagement in physics education.

Abstract

This study aims to measure changes in students' scientific literacy in physics learning through e-modules focused on momentum and impulse, using the stacking and racking Rasch model techniques. The study used a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 30 10th-grade students at a high school in Bandung. Data were analyzed using the stacking and racking Rasch model techniques to identify changes in students' scientific literacy and in item difficulty levels on the logit scale. Stacking analysis results showed that e-module-based learning could increase students' scientific literacy by 1.90 logits, while racking results indicated a decrease in item difficulty levels by -1.90 logits, suggesting that the improvement in scientific literacy directly affects how students respond to the measurement instruments. These findings indicate that integrating stacking and racking techniques provides a comprehensive view of the effectiveness of e-module-based physics learning, both in terms of changes in students' abilities and the functioning of test items. This study confirms that the Rasch model is a relevant approach for examining changes in science literacy in physics learning. Abstract

The global shift towards renewable energy demands an educational approach that transcends mere technical knowledge. This study posits that religious beliefs and systems thinking skills are crucial, yet often overlooked, foundations for effective renewable energy education. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 200 Indonesian university students from diverse academic disciplines to explore this paradigm. Data were collected using a 9-item questionnaire focusing on two domains: religious beliefs (4 items) and systems thinking (5 items). The instrument’s content was validated by experts in physics education and environmental science, yielding high internal consistency with Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.92 for religious beliefs and 0.86 for systems thinking. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The results reveal that students possess a strong perceived moral alignment between religious values and environmental stewardship (M = 3.52) and a high readiness for systems thinking (M = 3.37). However, this study is limited by its reliance on self-reported data, which measures perceived readiness rather than actual performance. These findings suggest that integrating ethical drivers and analytical frameworks can foster a more holistic "Beyond Technology" pedagogical model. This study advocates for a culturally grounded approach to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) by leveraging spiritual and cognitive assets to support the energy transition.
