Abstract

Leaf diseases significantly impact agricultural productivity and economic stability. This study explores the use of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for classifying plant leaf diseases, addressing limitations of traditional visual inspection methods. Utilizing a Kaggle dataset with three classes (Healthy, Powdery, Rust), data preprocessing techniques such as resizing, augmentation, and normalization enhanced model performance. The CNN model achieved 95% accuracy in classification, demonstrating its capability to detect intricate patterns on leaf surfaces. Despite challenges like dataset imbalance and limited disease categories, the research highlights the potential of integrating CNN with web or mobile platforms to aid farmers in disease identification. These findings align with previous studies and underscore the importance of deep learning in agricultural innovation. Future research should focus on expanding datasets, exploring advanced architectures, and validating models under real-world conditions to maximize utility and accuracy in diverse environments

Abstract

Stunting is a global problem that occurs in developing countries. Stunting policies in developing countries have different implementation trends.  This research aims to explore and describe stunting policies through Indonesian government programs with the governments of the Philippines, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The selection of country objects is determined based on the average stunting prevalence rate based on the Asian Development Bank in 2022, namely 2 countries above the average stunting prevalence in Southeast Asia (Indonesia and the Philippines) and 2 countries below the average stunting prevalence rate (Vietnam and Malaysia). This research was conducted using a literature study method on 80 main articles from international journals with a publication range of 2019-2024.  The findings were analyzed with indicators of successful policy implementation: Communication, Resources, Disposition, and Bureaucratic Structure which serve to assess the role and success of the policy. This research shows that there are similarities and differences in the policy implementation framework in each country. Similarities are caused by culture, socio-demographics, and poverty which are the dominant factors for stunting. The differences that arise are caused by the approach chosen by the government to overcome stunting. As a recommendation, the government needs to make the stunting handling program a national priority. In supporting the success of stunting management policies, it is necessary to strengthen coordination between institutions, build commitment between implementers, and align the policy agenda between stakeholders

Abstract

As remote work and online education continue to gain prominence, the importance of clear audio communication becomes crucial. Deep Learning-based Speech Enhancement has emerged as a promising solution for processing data in noisy environments. In this study, we conducted an in-depth analysis of two speech enhancement models, RNNoise and DeepFilterNet3, selected for their respective strengths. DeepFilterNet3 leverages time-frequency masking with a Complex Mask filter, while RNNoise employs Recurrent Neural Networks with lower complexity. The performance evaluation in training revealed that RNNoise demonstrated impressive denoising capabilities, achieving low loss values, while DeepFilterNet3 showed superior generalization. Specifically, "DeepFilterNet3 (Pre-Trained)" exhibited the best overall performance, excelling in intelligibility and speech quality. RNNoise also performed well in subjective quality measures. Furthermore, we assessed the real-time processing efficiency of both models. Both RNNoise variants processed speech signals almost in real-time, whereas DeepFilterNet3, though slightly slower, remained efficient. The findings demonstrate significant improvements in speech quality, with "DeepFilterNet3 (Pre-Trained)" emerging as the top-performing model. The implications of this study have the potential to enhance video conference experiences and contribute to the improvement of remote work and online education.

Abstract

Dragonflies also play a role in ecosystems as predators and bioindicators of water quality. The study aims to determine the community structure and diversity of dragonflies in Lake Aqua. The study was conducted in April 2021. Type of qualitative descriptive research, with visual day flying method with 3 observation locations based on vegetation composition and ease of access. Sampling using insect nets, documentation and identification. Based on the results of the study, 10 species of odonata were obtained, including 5 species of dragonflies (Anisoptera) and 5 species of needle dragonflies (Zygoptera). The total number of dragonflies found in 3 locations was 337 individuals from 6 families, including Euphaea variegata, Heliocypha fenestrata, Rhinocypha heterostigma, Vestalis luctuosa, Coeliccia membranipes, Onychogomphus fruhstorferi, Orthetrum glaucum, Orthetrum pruinosum, Orthetrum sabina, and Pantala flavescens. The results of the diversity index (H') showed 2.04 medium categories, the highest abundance was found in the species Euphaea variegata which was valued at 24.9% and the lowest abundance was found in Coeliccia membranipes worth 1.2%. The evenness index of 0.9 is high, the dominance index of 0.2 is low, which means dragonflies have the same opportunity to utilize resources. The calculation of the Family Biotic Index (FBI) to 3 locations of 0.02 is included in the category of very good water quality. The higher the number of dragonflies in the ecosystem, indicating that the ecosystem is still natural and environmental sustainability is maintained. When pollution occurs in the waters, it causes the life cycle of dragonflies to be disrupted and their population to decline.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal age, parity, and trimester of pregnancy with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) severity, measured using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire (ICIQ) score, among 102 pregnant women at Pasar Kuok Health Center. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving pregnant women who completed the ICIQ questionnaire. Data on maternal age, parity, and trimester of pregnancy were collected and analyzed using statistical tests to determine their association with SUI severity. Result: The mean ICIQ scores varied across age groups, parity, and pregnancy trimesters, with the highest scores observed in women aged 31–38 years, multiparous women, and those in the third trimester. However, statistical analysis revealed no significant associations between ICIQ scores and maternal age (p = 0.584), parity (p = 0.945), or trimester of pregnancy (p = 0.136). Conclusion: These findings suggest that maternal age, parity, and trimester of pregnancy may not independently influence SUI severity during pregnancy. Further research is needed to explore other potential contributors to SUI. Early screening and management strategies, including pelvic floor muscle training, remain essential to improving maternal quality of life.

Abstract

The effect of electric cigarettes (e-cigs) on health should be a concern since their legality has occurred in Indonesia. Young adults use e-cigarettes not as therapy but as a lifestyle. The vapor component contains propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, flavor, and nicotine, which may harm human health. This study examined the health risks of e-cigarettes on body weight, erythrocytes, and sperm morphology in mice. We used twenty healthy male mice exposed to the cigarette's vapor for thirty days. Mice were divided into room air as the negative control, nicotine-free, and 18 mg nicotine-containing groups. Our results showed that the body weight of the nicotine-free and nicotine-containing groups increased, while micronuclei formation increased after e-cig exposure. Furthermore, abnormal sperm morphology in the nicotine-containing groups increased significantly, yet the nicotine-free group was not significantly different compared to the negative control. These results were supported by the molecular prediction that exposure to e-cigs might increase oxidative stress and decrease the expression of TGF-β. Moreover, studies on it are ongoing to gather scientific evidence.
