Abstract

This study aims to find out efforts to increase the sense of nationalism through the comic media Cermat Bhineka at the 'Aisyiyah Pandan Guidance Studio, Malaysia. Nationalism is an important value in the formation of national identity that must be instilled in the younger generation, especially in a multicultural context. Cermat Bhineka's comic media was chosen as a tool to convey national messages in a more interesting and easy-to-understand way for children. This study uses a qualitative approach with the classroom action research method, which involves planning, implementation, observation, and reflection activities in certain cycles. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation during the learning process at the 'Aisyiyah Pandan Guidance Center. With the subject, namely 22 students. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in students' sense of nationalism after the implementation of Cermat Bhineka's comic media. At the pre-action stage, most of the students were in the low category, with a percentage of 41.4%. However, after the application of the Cermat Bhineka comic in Cycle I, there was an increase with a better average score of 60.8%. Further improvements were recorded in Cycle II, where all students were in the high category with an average excellent score of 85.3%. In addition, the assessment of the practicality of Cermat Bhineka's comic media showed that the use of this media was very practical in improving student understanding, with the percentage of practicality reaching 90.75%. The use of Cermat Bhineka comics can increase students' understanding and sense of nationalism, which is reflected in increased participation, discussion, and appreciation of cultural diversity and national values. Based on these findings, it is recommended that comic media continue to be developed and used as one of the learning methods to arouse the spirit of nationalism in the younger generation, especially in a multicultural environment such as Malaysia.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model DRTA berbantuan flash card terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas III Sanggar Belajar Kepong, Malaysia. Penelitian menggunakan desain One Group Pretest–Posttest dengan melibatkan 15 siswa sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Instrumen lembar observasi yang telah divalidasi secara isi oleh ahli. Prosedur penelitian meliputi pemberian pretest, penerapan model DRTA berbantuan flash card selama beberapa pertemuan, dan pemberian posttest. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan uji normalitas Shapiro-Wilk dan uji t berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata meningkat dari 59,07 pada pretest menjadi 76,14 pada posttest. Uji t berpasangan menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kedua skor (p = 0,001 < 0,05), sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa model DRTA berbantuan flash card efektif meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar guru memasukkan strategi DRTA dan penggunaan media visual seperti flash card dalam pembelajaran membaca untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan pemahaman siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Energy Challenge Board Game on fifth-grade students’ ability to evaluate energy concepts at SB Kampung Baru, Malaysia. The participants consisted of 21 students. The research employed a one-group pretest–posttest experimental design. The instrument used was an energy concept evaluation test comprising 15 multiple-choice items and 5 essay questions. Data were analyzed using a t-test to examine differences between the pretest and posttest scores. The results indicated that the significance value was below 0.05, leading to the acceptance of Ha and rejection of H0, which means that the Energy Challenge Board Game had a significant effect on students’ evaluation abilities. The increase in the posttest mean score compared to the pretest further demonstrates improvement in students’ skills after the implementation of the board game. These findings suggest that the Energy Challenge Board Game positively contributes to the enhancement of students’ ability to evaluate energy concepts in the fifth grade at SB Kampung Baru, Malaysia.

Abstract

Kesulitan membaca pada siswa kelas I Sekolah Dasar merupakan permasalahan awal yang dapat memengaruhi keberhasilan belajar pada jenjang selanjutnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran guru dalam mengatasi kesulitan membaca siswa kelas I di SDN 116901 Montong. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru memiliki peran penting dalam mengatasi kesulitan membaca siswa, antara lain sebagai pembimbing, motivator, dan fasilitator dalam proses pembelajaran. Guru menerapkan berbagai strategi seperti penggunaan metode membaca permulaan, media pembelajaran yang menarik, serta pendampingan secara intensif kepada siswa yang mengalami kesulitan. Selain itu, kerja sama antara guru dan orang tua juga berperan dalam mendukung perkembangan kemampuan membaca siswa. Dengan peran guru yang optimal, kesulitan membaca pada siswa kelas I dapat diminimalisir sehingga kemampuan membaca siswa dapat berkembang dengan lebih baik.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui Langkah-langkah pengembangan bahan ajar Silent Book berbasis Project Based Learning (PjBL) pada mata pelajaran IPAS Fase C di SDS Al Washliyah Medan Area, penelitian menggunakan Model ADDIE yaitu Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Hasil pengembanagn bahan ajar oleh validator para ahli yaitu ahli materi 99% kategori “sangat layak”, ahli media 96% kategori “sangat layak”, dan ahli Bahasa 100% kategori “sangat layak”. Uji coba kepraktisan dilakukan oleh respon guru dan respon siswa yaitu respon guru 95% kategori “sangat praktis”, dan respon murid 90% kategori “sangat praktis”, uji coba dilakukan pada 12 siswa kelas V SDS Al Washliyah Medan Area.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan media Coding Emogi perkalian terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa di Sanggar Belajar kampung Baru, Malaysia. Subjek penelitian adalah satu kelas, yaitu kelas V yang berjumlah 18 siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa angket keterampilan berpikir kritis yang disusun berdasarkan indikator klarifikasi, memberikan alasan, menyimpulkan, serta mengevaluasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji t untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil pretest dan posttest. Berdasarkan hasil dapat diketehui bahwa nilai signifikan sebesar .000 yang mana mana 0.000 < 0,05. Dapat disimpulakn bahwa Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak, hal ini menyatakan bahwa terdapat pengaruh media coding emogi terhadap keterampilan berfikir keritis siswa di kelas V. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan pada keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa setelah menggunakan media Coding Emogi. Peningkatan tersebut terlihat dari rata-rata skor posttest yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pretest. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media Coding Emogi berpengaruh positif terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas V di Sanggar Belajar Kampung Baru, Malaysia.

Abstract

Teacher competency scores in Indonesia remain suboptimal, with an average score of 57 out of 100 in 2019. Specifically, Indonesia's teacher quality ranked 14th out of 14 developing countries according to UNESCO's 2016 GEM Report. To address these challenges, the Ministry of Education and Culture launched the Guru Penggerak program to enhance educational quality through student-centered learning and professional development. This study aims to improve the professional competencies of Guru Penggerak Batch 10 teachers in Medan City by constructing teaching modules using the WHERE TO framework within the context of differentiated learning and the Merdeka Curriculum. The research utilized a one-shot pretest-posttest group design conducted over two cycles. Participants included Batch 10 prospective Guru Penggerak teachers who underwent workshops and intensive mentoring. Data were collected via performance tests focusing on lesson plan design and analyzed using an independent T-test. Quantitative analysis revealed a significant improvement in teacher competencies, with average scores reaching 88 after two cycles. Statistical testing yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the WHERE TO framework significantly impacts competency escalation. The framework encompassing Where, Hook, Explore, Reflect, Evaluate, Tailored, and Organized effectively addressed gaps in systematic instructional design and student-centered sequencing. The construction of WHERE TO-based learning activities serves as an effective integrative mechanism for developing multiple teacher competency domains, including curriculum knowledge, planning, and assessment. This approach fosters innovative thinking and professional autonomy among teachers in the Medan City region.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, and Extending (CORE) learning model integrated with Problem Based Learning (PBL) in improving the mathematical problem-solving abilities of PGSD students. A quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group pretest–posttest design was employed. The participants consisted of 62 fourth-semester PGSD students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara in the 2024/2025 academic year, divided into an experimental group (n=32) and a control group (n=30). Research instruments included a mathematical problem-solving test, observation sheets, and reflective journals. Data analysis revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with the experimental group achieving a higher mean score (82.53) than the control group (71.67), supported by a t-value of 5.742 (p0.001). The N-gain results indicated a moderate improvement in the experimental group (0.58), exceeding that of the control group (0.31). Students in the experimental class demonstrated better performance across all problem-solving indicators, particularly in rechecking the solution process and results. Qualitative findings further showed improvements in conceptual understanding, strategic thinking, confidence, and collaboration. Overall, integrating CORE and PBL creates meaningful learning experiences and effectively enhances students’ mathematical problem-solving competence

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' critical reading skills through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model in Indonesian language learning for fifth-grade elementary school students. Critical reading is an essential skill that enables students to understand, analyze, and evaluate information from texts effectively. However, many students still experience difficulties in comprehending reading materials critically due to the limited use of innovative and student-centered learning strategies. This research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) consisting of two cycles, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The participants of this study were fifth-grade students in an elementary school. Data were collected through observation, reading tests, and documentation to measure students' progress in critical reading skills. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model significantly improved students' critical reading abilities. Students became more active in analyzing texts, identifying main ideas, asking questions, and expressing their opinions during classroom discussions. In addition, the learning outcomes increased in each cycle, indicating that students were able to understand reading materials more critically and effectively. Therefore, the Problem Based Learning model can be considered an effective learning strategy to enhance students' critical reading skills in Indonesian language learning at the elementary school level. Abstract

Speaking is one way to convey messages and mandates verbally. In this process, the speaker acts as an encoder, using language codes to send messages and mandates. These messages are then received by the listener who serves as a decoder, breaking down the codes conveyed to provide meaning and interpretation. This communication process occurs interactively, with speakers and listeners alternating roles, creating a dynamic reciprocal communication flow. The goal of this research is to ascertain how the application of the Markobar custom be learning strategy impacts the speaking abilities of fifth grade Elementary School Teacher Education. Markobar, an oral tradition from the Mandailing culture, was transformed into a learning strategy that focuses on delivering messages in turns, with politeness and structure. A quantitative approach with an experimental design was employed in this study. Class A, the experimental group, received a learning intervention using Markobar, and Class B, the control group, utilized the lecture method. The data collcetive involved a speaking skills observation sheet that comprised indicators of expression, fluency, sentence structure, word choice, and content accuracy. The outcomes of the tests for normality and homogeneity indicated that the data followed a normal distribution and was homogeneous. The significance value for Hypothesis was 0.000 < 0.05. it means, the use of Markobar significantly affected the enhancement of students' speaking skills. This study's findings suggest that the Markobar strategy is effective for enhancing students' speaking skills and serves as a significant initiative for local culture preservation in education. Deviations from expected outcomes—such as persistent student passivity—can be attributed to heterogeneous student backgrounds, where not all comprehend Mandailing language/terms, coupled with limited rehearsal time for markobar exercises, preventing universal achievement of advanced proficiency levels.
