Abstract

Backgrounds: Mastery of Arabic vocabulary is essential for language proficiency; however, instruction in Islamic senior high schools remains dominated by memorisation and drill methods, resulting in low retention and limited integration of cognitively grounded digital media. Objectives: This study aims to analyse students’ needs in Arabic vocabulary learning, examine the feasibility of iSpring-based learning media grounded in Dual Coding Theory, and test its effectiveness in improving vocabulary mastery. Methods: The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, combined with a one-group pre-test–post-test design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and vocabulary tests, and analysed using a mixed-methods approach. Results:The results indicate that students require interactive digital media integrating visual and audio elements. The developed iSpring-based media was categorised as highly feasible based on expert validation. The effectiveness test involving 26 students (n = 26) revealed a statistically significant improvement in vocabulary mastery, as reflected by the increase in mean scores from pre-test (M = 68.85) to post-test (M = 77.31), t(25) = 7.04, p < 0.001, with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.38). Conclusions: The findings demonstrate that the media is effective in enhancing students’ vocabulary mastery and engagemen

Abstract

The moral degradation of Generation Z adolescents such as the crisis of empathy, cyberbullying, and social media addiction has become a serious issue in the era of globalization. Character education practices implemented so far tend to emphasize behavioral regulation through rules, reward–punishment mechanisms, and discipline programs, yet they have not addressed the root of the problem, namely the inner condition as the source of action. Previous studies have generally focused on observable behavioral changes, while classical moral literature still presents ethical concepts in an abstract manner and has not been sufficiently connected to the psychological context of modern adolescents. This study aims to formulate the implementation of khusnul khuluq according to Imam al-Ghazali as a strategy for character formation among Generation Z adolescents. The study employs a qualitative literature review method by analyzing Ihya’ Ulumuddin and contemporary sources on character education and Generation Z psychology. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that khusnul khuluq is a stable inner disposition that spontaneously generates good actions and can be developed through mujahadah and riyadhah an-nafs. The novelty of this study lies in the development of an implementative model of khusnul khuluq for Generation Z through five stages: self-awareness, habituation of good deeds, utilization of digital technology, role modeling, and the formation of a supportive environment. In conclusion, character formation cannot be limited to external behavior alone but must begin with inner transformation to sustainably produce noble character.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of using appropriate learning media to achieve learning objectives optimally, especially in Arabic language learning, which often faces challenges such as low student interest and motivation. One of the media that can be used is video, as it presents material in an audio-visual form, making it more engaging and easier to understand. This study aims to describe the implementation of video media in Arabic language learning in class VIII B at MTs Maftahul Huda Jenggawah. This research employs a qualitative approach with a field research (case study) design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data is ensured through source triangulation and technique triangulation. The results of the study show that the implementation of video media in Arabic language learning is carried out systematically through several stages: the teacher prepares the lesson plan (RPP), prepares multimedia equipment, opens the lesson, explains the learning objectives, delivers the material, uses video media that is appropriate and supports the material, provides additional explanations, concludes the lesson, and closes the learning session. The use of video media contributes positively to creating a more engaging and interactive learning environment. This study contributes to the development of Arabic language learning based on digital media and can serve as a reference for teachers in implementing innovative teaching strategies. Future research is recommended to examine the effectiveness of video media on students’ learning outcomes quantitatively or through experimental studies by comparing various types of learning media.

Abstract

Good Arabic learning cannot be separated from the method applied. The curriculum used at MAUDU has already applied K-13, but in fact many some teachers use the classical model. Therefore, a teaching model is necessary that can bring students not only able to answer questions, but also can understand the lessons much better. They can apply the material in their daily lives, analyze and evaluate what has/have been done. This model is known as HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills). This study tries to explain the HOTS system and its relation to Arabic literacy and to innovate the development of HOTS-based materials towards innovative learning. In this study, a descriptive approach, an analytical approach, and a critical approach were used. The results achieved in this study are the innovation of developing HOTS-based Arabic learning which includes several stages, they are basic competency analysis (KD), indicator analysis, student characteristics analysis, formulating learning objectives, material analysis, developing strategies, and learning activities, developing learning tools, developing assessments, linking the principles of HOTS (High Order Thinking Skills), and Revising all aspects and steps of learning development.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of the C3T method and Kahoot-based interactive tests to improve the quality of Arabic language learning assessment at SMP Jalaluddin Rumi Junior High School, Jember. It addresses the limited use of formative and interactive assessment in Arabic instruction, where conventional evaluation methods remain dominant and less effective in developing speed, accuracy, and collaboration. The study employed Classroom Action Research based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model in two cycles involving 21 seventh-grade students divided into seven groups. Data were collected through tests, observation, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques within a formative assessment framework. The findings show continuous improvement in both learning process and outcomes. Student participation, collaboration, and engagement increased from Cycle I to Cycle II, along with more effective classroom interaction. Quantitatively, the average group score improved from 6.78 to 7.71 across all groups. These results indicate that the integration of the C3T method with interactive assessment contributes to a more formative, objective, and efficient evaluation system through real-time feedback, time constraints, and collaborative learning. The novelty lies in systematically combining C3T with interactive digital formative assessment that emphasizes speed, accuracy, collaboration, and immediate feedback. In conclusion, this integration contributes to improving Arabic language assessment quality, although its implementation is influenced by technological access, classroom management, and student discipline.
