Abstract

Healthcare workers (HCWs) in remote archipelagic regions bear a disproportionate workload that threatens both their psychological wellbeing and the quality of primary care. This study examines the effect of workload on burnout and HCW performance at community health centres (Puskesmas) in remote island districts of Riau Islands Province, Indonesia, positioning organizational support as a moderating variable. Grounded in the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) model, Conservation of Resources (COR) theory, and Organizational Support Theory (OST), a quantitative cross-sectional survey was administered to 186 HCWs across 18 Puskesmas in Natuna, Lingga, and Kepulauan Anambas, selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Workload was measured with the NASA-Task Load Index, burnout with the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-HSS), performance with a validated 20-item instrument, and organizational support with the Survey of Perceived Organizational Support. Moderated-mediation analysis (PROCESS Model 59, 5,000 bootstrap samples) showed that workload significantly increased burnout (β = 0.512, p < 0.001) and reduced performance (β = −0.374, p < 0.001), with burnout partially mediating the relationship (indirect effect = −0.189, 95% CI [−0.261, −0.121]). Organizational support significantly buffered both the workload–burnout path (β = −0.284, p = 0.003) and the workload–performance path (β = 0.231, p = 0.011). The study's novelty lies in demonstrating an actionable buffering mechanism in DTPK settings and proposing an integrated organizational-support intervention model as a policy solution. Because organizational support can be strengthened quickly and at low cost through supervisory responsiveness, workload rationalisation, recognition, and wellbeing support it provides district health offices in DTPK settings with a fast and affordable intervention lever to protect HCW performance where structural workforce solutions remain slow and costly.

Abstract

Purpose:  This study aims to examine the direct and indirect effects of selling price, advertising, and location on customer loyalty, with service quality acting as a mediating variable in fast food outlets in Batam City. Methodology: This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected from customers who purchased and consumed fast-food products in Batam City. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test both direct and indirect relationships among variables. Results: The findings indicate that selling price significantly affects service quality but does not directly influence customer loyalty, demonstrating a full mediating effect through service quality. Advertising and location have significant direct and indirect effects on customer loyalty, indicating partial mediation. Furthermore, service quality significantly affects customer loyalty and is the most critical determinant of customer retention. Conclusions:   This study confirms that service quality is a key mechanism linking marketing variables to customer loyalty. The effectiveness of pricing, advertising, and location strategies largely depends on their ability to enhance the perceived service quality. Limitations:  This study is limited to fast-food outlets in Batam City and focuses only on selected variables, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings to other regions. Additionally, the cross-sectional design does not capture changes in customer behavior over time. Contributions:  This study contributes to the literature by integrating marketing mix variables with service quality within the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework, highlighting the mediating role of service quality in shaping customer loyalty. Practically, it provides insights for fast-food businesses to align their marketing strategies with service quality improvements to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.

Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the influence of transformational leadership, organizational citizenship behavior, and work involvement on innovative work behavior, with knowledge sharing as an intervening variable. Research Methodology: This research used a quantitative approach with a survey method. A total of 101 employees were selected using total sampling method. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling-partial least squares (SEM-PLS) version 3.0. Results: The findings indicate that transformational leadership, OCB, and work involvement significantly affect innovative work behavior. OCB and work involvement significantly influenced knowledge sharing, whereas transformational leadership did not. Knowledge sharing itself does not significantly affect innovative work behavior and does not mediate the relationship between the independent variables and innovative work behavior. Conclusions: Innovative work behavior is primarily shaped by leadership, citizenship behavior, and employee involvement, whereas knowledge sharing plays only a limited role. Strengthening OCB and engagement directly enhances innovation, even without mediation by knowledge sharing. Limitations: This study was restricted to one institution and relied only on questionnaires. Contribution: This study highlights the importance of leadership, OCB, and involvement in fostering innovation, offering guidance for managerial practice.

Abstract

This study evaluates the incentive policy for neighborhood leaders (RT/RW) in Tanjungpinang City and its impact on community service performance, with community participation as a moderating variable. Despite policy implementation, questions remain regarding its effectiveness in enhancing grassroots service delivery due to perceived mismatches between compensation, workload, and procedural transparency. Using a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data were collected from 271 RT/RW leaders via structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling, complemented by qualitative interviews and focus group discussions. Results indicate that incentive-job fit, policy clarity, fairness, transparency in distribution, and overall policy effectiveness significantly and positively influence RT/RW performance. Furthermore, community participation significantly strengthens all these relationships, acting as a vital social catalyst. The findings highlight that financial incentives alone are insufficient; their success depends on multidimensional policy design integrated with active citizen engagement. This research contributes to micro-governance literature by empirically validating the moderating role of community participation in policy implementation. Practically, it recommends transitioning from flat-rate incentives to performance-based, transparent, and participatory models to sustainably improve grassroots public services.
