Abstract

This study aims to describe the problem-solving ability of two-variable linear equation system material in students with visual, auditorial, and kinesthetic learning styles. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of the study were grade VIIIB students of SMPN 1 Gunungsari for the 2023/2024 school year, totaling 20 students, with 5 students of visual learning style, 7 students of auditorial learning style, and 8 students of kinesthetic learning style. The sampling technique is carried out by purposive sampling technique. The research instruments are questionnaires, test questions, and interviews. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Analysis is carried out based on John Dewey's stages, namely facing problems, defining problems, finding solutions, testing several solutions, and choosing the best hypothesis. Based on the results of the study, it was obtained that, students of visual learning style, in general, have high problem-solving skills because they are able to carry out all five stages. Students of auditorial learning style, in general, have high problem-solving skills, where auditorial students are able to carry out all five stages. Meanwhile, the kinesthetic learning style has moderate problem-solving abilities, where kinesthetic students are only able to carry out four stages, because at the stage of choosing the best hypothesis, kinesthetic students are not able to carry it out

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) learning model on students critical thinking ability for systems of linear equations with two variabels material in class VIII at SMP Negeri 3 Jerowaru for the academic year 2023/2024. Research with a quantitative approach that uses a quasi-experimental design, the experimental class learning using the RME learning model while the control class using direct learning. The population in this study was 3 class VIII students. The samples were taken using a simple random sampling technique, resulting in class VIII A as the experimental class and VIII B as the control class. Data collection was carried out using critical thinking ability test questions (posttest). From the research results, it was found that there were differences between the experimental class and the control class. Judging from the average score of the experimental class 69.08 and the control class 58.40, this shows that the critical thinking ability of the class whose learning uses RME is better than the class whose learning uses direct learning. The effect size test results obtained were 0.69, which is in the medium category. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of the RME learning model on students' critical thinking skills in SPLDV material in class VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Jerowaru in the medium category. Abstract

This research aims to determine whether there is an influence of the reciprocal teaching learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKPD) on the mathematical communication skills of students at Senior High School 7 Mataram for the 2023/2024 academic year. This research is included in quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design research type with a posttest-only control design. The population in this study were all class X students at Senior High School 7 Mataram for the 2023/2024 academic year with samples from classes X.K and the instruments in this research are observation sheets and tests of mathematical communication skills as well as data analysis techniques using valid tests, namely the normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test. The results of this research show that there is a difference in the average value of the mathematical communication skills of students who use the reciprocal teaching learning model assisted by LKPD and students who use the conventional learning model. So this shows that there is an influence of the reciprocal teaching learning model assisted by Student Worksheets (LKPD) on the mathematical communication skills of students at Senior High School 7 Mataram in the 2023/2024 academic year

Abstract

Reasoning ability is a high-level thinking ability in learning mathematics. Mathematical reasoning and mathematics learning are two things that are interrelated and cannot be separated because mathematical material is understood through reasoning, and reasoning can be trained through studying mathematics. To achieve mathematical reasoning abilities in learning, students need adequate behavior, one of which is learning independence. The aim of this research is to analyze mathematical reasoning abilities based on students' independent learning at SMPN 1 Praya Timur on straight line equations. The method used in this research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. The samples in this study were taken randomly based on the class in the population. The class that the researcher took as a sample in this study was class VIII C at SMPN 1 Praya Timur for the 2023–2024 academic year. The results of this study show that subjects with low reasoning abilities are also categorized as having low learning independence. The learning ability of students who are categorized as moderate turns out to be moderate. So, it can be concluded that the relationship between learning independence and reasoning ability is based on high student learning independence, so their reasoning ability is also high. Based on the results of this research, it is hoped that teachers can develop teaching and practice problem-solving questions to improve students' reasoning abilities

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of using audiovisual media on students' mathematics learning outcomes in online learning supplements. This type of research is experimental research. The population in this study were class VIII students, with the sample determined using random sampling techniques. The sample in this study consisted of 76 students, namely class VIII-A as the experimental class and class VIII-B students as the control class. The instrument used is a test of student learning outcomes. The data analysis used is the normality test and homogeneity test as a prerequisite test and the t test as a hypothesis test and effect size test to determine whether there is an influence from the use of audio-visual media on student learning outcomes. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the t test, the significance level was obtained  obtained  And  where these results show that  so that  rejected and  accepted. The effect size test results obtained a result of 0.804 which is in the high category, which means that there is an influence of the use of audio-visual media on students' mathematics learning outcomes in online learning supplements

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the mathematical communication skills of prospective elementary school teacher students on Geometry material. This research method is descriptive qualitative analyzed from the given instrument. The instrument in this study was in the form of 4 written test questions. The subjects of this study were 34 students in the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program, FKIP, Mataram University. The indicators used in this study are 4 indicators of mathematical communication skills, namely explaining mathematical ideas in the form of images, explaining ideas, situations in written form, connecting images to mathematical ideas and reading with the understanding of a written mathematical representation. From the results of data analysis, it was found that the students' mathematical communication skills in the Geometry material were in the very low category. This can be seen from the results of the recapitulation of student answers and the results of the conversion of student scores with the successive percentages of 45.58% and 50%, especially in questions with reading indicators with an understanding of a mathematical representation.

Abstract

This research aims to produce teaching materials based on 21st century learning for prospective teacher students that are valid and effective. The method of this research was research and development (R&D) using the Thiagarajan 4D model. This model consists of several stages, namely definition, design, development, and dissemination. The test subjects of this research were 27 third-semester mathematics education students at the University of Mataram. Data was collected using a validation questionnaire for teaching materials for material experts, media, practitioners and lecturer and student response questionnaires. Meanwhile, effectiveness data was obtained from student scores on ability tests at the end of using teaching materials. The data was analyzed descriptively to categorize the classical completeness from the scores. The results of the research showed that the teaching materials for teaching critical and creative thinking skills met the criteria valid according to the assessment of material experts, media experts, practitioner experts, lecturers, and students, and their effectiveness has been tested so that it can be concluded that this module meets the requirements for use in learning to build creative thinking and critical thinking skills. These teaching materials can be references for teachers to study how to stimulate student’s critical and creative thinking.Â
