Abstract

As a region with rich cultural heritage and maritime beauty, Majene required efforts and community involvement to maximize its tourism potential. This included the enhancement and training of English language skills among the community and its human resources for the dissemination of information and to attract international tourists. This study aimed to assess the impact of using technologies such as AI (Fully Fluent) and social media (Instagram) in developing English-speaking skills for tourism at Universitas Sulawesi Barat. This research was a descriptive quantitative study, in which a Likert scale questionnaire based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was administered to 25 English Education students at Universitas Sulawesi Barat. The findings revealed that the average mean score obtained from the questionnaire was 3.408, which falls under the 'very high' category. Among the TAM components, 'Perceived Ease of Use' had the highest mean score, followed by 'Perceived Usefulness,' 'Behavioral Intention to Use,' and 'Attitude toward Use,' all of which were categorized as 'very high,' while 'Actual System Use' ranked last in the 'high' category. These results indicated that the use of AI and social media was perceived as having a very positive impact on the students of Universitas Sulawesi Barat, particularly in terms of the ease and effectiveness which implied that it is applicable for English speaking practice for specific purpose included tourism. Abstract

The objectives of this research are to find out the results of students' writing learning before and after participating in learning using the sequenced type integrative learning model. To find out students' activities in participating in learning using the sequenced type integrative learning model. And to determine students' responses to learning to write using a sequenced type integrative learning model. This research is categorized as quantitative descriptive research. In this study, the One Group Pretest-Posttest design was used, namely an experiment carried out with one group that was given a pretest before being given treatment. The findings show that the average fifth grade students gave a positive response to the implementation of the sequenced integrative learning model, where the average percentage of student responses was 89.5%. Thus, the response of students taught using this model can be said to be effective. Learning to write using a sequenced type integrative model can result in changes in students' activities and views towards learning to write as shown by the percentage of positive student responses of 78%. And after implementing the sequenced type integrative learning model have met the indicators of completeness of classical student learning outcomes, namely ≥ 75%. Moreover, it can be concluded that the teacher's ability to manage learning using the sequenced integrative learning model is said to be effective at SDN Wawonii Barat.

Abstract

The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has had significant negative effects on various sectors, including the economy in Indonesia. These adverse impacts have also extended to the Sharia-based financial and business sectors. This study aims to identify and explore the challenges faced by the Islamic economy and industry in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic and its on going endemic nature. A qualitative research approach was used, drawing from various studies and prior research findings. The study reveals a decline in several Sharia products and challenges in Sharia production, largely due to a heavy dependence on imported raw materials. This issue continues to affect businesses within the Sharia-based economic and financial sector, ultimately limiting investment opportunities. Consequently, with government support, actors in the Sharia economy and business sector need to reassess growth targets and leverage digital technology to recover from the economic disruptions caused by the coronavirus endemic. Research Implications Sharia-based businesses should diversify supply chains to reduce dependence on imports and adopt digital technology to boost resilience and competitiveness. The government can support recovery by providing incentives and fostering innovation in Sharia-compliant products to ensure sustainable growth.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are one of the key competencies that students must possess to face future challenges. In the context of mathematics learning at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar, mathematical critical thinking skills are essential and need to be developed to support the advancement of knowledge in the era of globalization. However, mathematics learning often does not fully focus on the development of higher-order thinking skills. A learning approach that integrates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) can be a solution, as it allows students to understand and apply mathematical concepts in real-world situations. The integration of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics elements in learning creates a more creative, holistic, and relevant learning experience. This study aims to analyze how the STEAM approach can help students at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar see the connections between scientific fields and apply them to solve real-world problems, thereby enhancing their critical thinking skills. This research uses a literature review method. The analysis results show that the implementation of STEAM-based learning at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. The integration of the STEAM approach in mathematics learning makes a significant contribution to the development of critical thinking skills, preparing students to face increasingly complex and dynamic global challenges.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the ability in understanding derivative concepts based on APOS theory. This research was a qualitative descriptive with the subjects were 6 students from class XII MIA at one of Senior High School in Makassar in 2018/2019 academic year which selected for certain purposes, namely students score and teacher recommendations. The instruments used in this research were a test of students' mathematics ability, test in understanding the derivative concepts based on APOS theory, and interviews. The results of the research showed that: (1) the students who have the high ability have fulfilled the indicators of understanding concept at the stage of action, and they fulfilled all indicators of understanding concepts in process and object stages. However, at the schema stage, the students only met 1 indicator of understanding the concept; (2) students who have the average ability have fulfilled the indicators of understanding concept at the action phase, and they fulfilled 1 indicator of understanding concept in the process phase, also they met all the indicators of understanding concepts in the object phase. However, at the schema phase, the students did not meet 1 indicator of understanding concepts; (3) students who have the low ability have fulfilled the indicators of understanding concept at the stage of action, and they fulfilled all indicators of understanding concepts at the process stage. However, the students did not meet the indicator of understanding concepts at the object and schema stage.
