Abstract

This research aims to describe students’ mathematics conceptual understanding understanding with topics exponential considered of the intensity of using quipper video. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Subjects in this study were randomly selected one for the category of high intensity, one medium intensity, and one low intensity. The data collection techniques by giving intensity questionnaires use quipper video, understanding concept tests, and interviews then through three stages of data analysis, namely data condensation, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that understanding mathematical concepts: (1) Subjects with high intensity of using quipper video were unable to understand the concept in indicators apply concepts or algorithms to problem solving. (2) Subjects with medium intensity of using quipper video are able to restate the concept, classify objects according to certain characteristics in accordance with the concept, use and utilize certain procedures or operations, apply concepts or algorithms to problem solving, provide examples and not examples, present concepts in various mathematical representations, and develop necessary requirements or sufficient requirements from a concept.(3) subject with low intensity of using quipper video did not understand the concept in indicator restating the concept, , provide examples and not examples,and develop necessary requirements or sufficient requirements from a concept.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the students' difficulties in solving straight-line equations in terms of anxiety in learning mathematics in class VIII SMP. The method of this research is descriptive qualitative research. There are three students who are the subject of this study, namely one student with high anxiety, one student with moderate anxiety, and one student with low anxiety. The results showed that subjects with high anxiety (SKT) had more difficulty in solving questions and needed a relatively long time to solve problems. Subjects of moderate anxiety (SKS) had little difficulty in applying concepts and more difficulties in applying principles and difficulties in solving verbal problems and took a long time to solve problems. The subject of low anxiety (SKR), has no difficulty in understanding concepts, applying principles, and has no difficulty in solving verbal problems but requires a relatively long time in solving questions. The results of this study are expected to add insight and minimize students' difficulties in solving straight line equations

Abstract

This study aims to know the description of students' error in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) mathematical problems and the description of errors differences of geometry based on Hadar criteria. This type of research is descriptive research using qualitative approach. Retrieval of the subject is performed by providing prior knowledge test of grade XII MIPA 3 , then from the result of thetest selected 6 subjects based on existing categories. The instrument used in this research are prior knowledge test which contains 30 number of multiple choices, written tests of Higher Order Thinking Skills which contains 2 number of essay and interview guidelines. Errors are analyzed by using the Hadar error category which consists of 6 errors. The results of this research show that based on the Hadar error criteria, errors that occur are misused data, misinterpreted language, logically in valid inference, distorted theorem or definition, unverified solution, and technical error. Subjects who solving HOTS mathematics problem of geometry tend to make logically invalid inference, distorted definition or theorem, and technical errors. The results of this research are expected to add insight about the types of errors made by the students of senior high school in geometry topic, especially in solving higher order thinking skills problems so that the mistakes can be immediately minimized in the process of learning.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of implementing the think talk write (TTW) strategy of cooperative learning model towards mathematics reasoning and communication abilities and students motivation in mathematics learning. The type of this research was a quasi-experimental study involving two different treatment groups. The population of this study were students of grade VII SMPN 1 Sinjai Utara and selected by cluster random sampling that were class VII-6 and VII-7. The results obtained from descriptive statistical analysis was: the mathematics reasoning abilities of students by applying cooperative learning model with TTW strategy is in low category, communication ability is in moderate category, and student learning motivation is in moderate category, and the mathematics reasoning abilities of students by applying direct learning model with expository strategy is in very low category, communication ability is in low, and student learning motivation is in moderate category. The results of inferential statistical analysis obtained that: mathematical reasoning, and communication ability, and the motivation of students by applying cooperative learning model with TTW strategy better than the mathematical reasoning, and communication ability, and the learning motivation of students taught by direct learning model. From the result of this research, it can be concluded that there was the influence of applying cooperative learning model with think talk write strategy to mathematical reasoning, and communication ability, and the learning motivation of students.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the application Butterfly Trigon learning media in the cooperative model type TSTS on mathematics learning for X grade high school students with the indicators of learning effectiveness is student learning outcomes, student activities, and student responses. This research is a quasi-experimental research with pretest and posttest control group design using cluster random sampling technique. The population of this study were X grade high school students and the research sample consisted of two groups, namely the experimental class (Treatment) with 25 students and the control class with 24 students. Student learning outcomes data obtained by giving pretest and posttest, student activity data obtained through student activity observation sheets, and student response data obtained by student response questionnaires. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics so in general it can be concluded that the application Butterfly Trigon learning media in the cooperative model type TSTS is effectively applied on the mathematics learning for X grade high school students.

Abstract

This research is an expo facto research which airms to find out the influence of Learning Motivation, Self Efficacy, Self Regulated Learning to Student Learning Outcones of Mathematics GradeXI IPA Senior High School in Enrekang Regency. The population in this research is the student of grade XI IPA Senior High School in Enrekang Regency academic. The sample of this research is 120 student which is taken by using stratified random proportional sampling technique. The data were collected by using four instruments. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistica and path analysis. Data management is done with the help of SPSS statistical program. The result of the shows that: (1) student’s learning motivation is in low category, (2) self efficacy and self regulated learning of student is in high category, (3) result of studemt’s mathematics learning is in medium category, (5) student’s learning motivation directly have a significant positive effect to self regulated learning, (6) self efficacy of student directly have a significant positive effect on self regulated learning, (7) student’s learning motivation directly has no significant positive effect on result, (8) self efficacy of student directly have a significant negative effect on mathematics learning outcomes, (9) self regulated learning student directly have a significant positive effect on mathematics learning.

Abstract

This research aims to know the description of students' learning difficulties in learning mathematics on the topik of Plane viewed from students' mathematical connection ability. This research is descriptive research using a qualitative approach. Retrieval of the subject is formed by providing mathematical connection ability tests to students of class VIII and from the result of mathematical connection ability selected purposively 5 subjects. The instrument in this research is the test of mathematics connection ability, a diagnostik test of mathematics learning difficulties, and interview guidelines. Students' learning difficulties analyzed base on 5 indicators of learning difficulties, it contains abnormality of visual perception, interference of spatial relation, the association of visual-motor, difficulty in understanding symbol, difficulty in language and reading. The results showed that (1) subject with very good mathematical connection ability feel difficult in interference of spatial relation, (2) subject with good mathematical connection ability find difficulties in interference of spatial relation and association of visual-motor, (3) subject with moderate mathematical connection ability find difficulties in abnormality of visual perception, interference of spatial relation and association of visual-motor, (4) subject with low mathematical connection ability find difficulties in interference of spatial relation, association of visual-motor, abnormality in visual perception, difficulty in language and reading, (5) subject with very low mathematical connection ability experience difficulties in all the indicators of learning difficulties.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengurangi kesalahan siswa dalam operasi perkalian dengan menerapkan metode perkalian latis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Subjek penelitian adalah 24 siswa yang dipilih secara purposive. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kelas VII dari salah satu SMP di Parepare. Tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Intrumen penelitian yang digunakan terdiri atas lembar observasi, soal tes, dan angket. Desain PTK menggunakan model Kemmis dan Tanggart yang meliputi perencanaan, tindakan/pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Skor rata-rata hasil tes matematika siswa setelah pemberian tindakan pada siklus I adalah 58,33 dari skor ideal 100 dan sebanyak 15 siswa yang melakukan kesalahan dalam operasi perkalian. Sedangkan skor rata-rata hasil tes matematika siswa setelah pemberian tindakan pada siklus II adalah 80,83 dari skor ideal 100 dan sudah tidak ada lagi siswa yang melakukan kesalahan. Kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal operasi perkalian bilangan bulat dan bilangan pecahan desimal terdapat tiga aspek kesalahan yaitu kesalahan dalam memahami konsep, kesalahan proses penyelesaian, dan kesalahan penarikan kesimpulan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode latis dapat mengurangi kesalahan siswa dalam operasi perkalian ditinjau dari kemampuan awal siswa SMP di Parepare

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive research that aims to describe the ability of problem solving mathematically viewed from the early ability of mathematics and gender differences. The subjects of this study were six students. The six students were selected based on the Mathematics Ability test scores divided into high, medium, and low categories with two men each and one woman representing each level of math skills on SPLDV material by taking the highest grades from each capability category. The six subjects were given the Mathematical Problem Solving Ability Test I and the Mathematics Problem Solving Ability Test II at different times. Data analysis techniques using qualitative analysis. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Indicators mention things that are known and questioned by all subjects, (2) Indicators to make problem-solving plans from things known for problem solving are shared by all subjects, (3) Indicators carry out problem solving through a plan that has been made owned by all subjects, (4) Indicators of re-examination of existing answers owned by all subjects.

Abstract

This research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, aiming to identify mathematical communication skills based on mathematical disposition in straight-line equation matter. The subject of this research are students of class VIII who represent each category of mathematical disposition that is high, medium, and low. Data collection techniques are done by giving questioner, tests, and interviews. The results showed that all students in each disposition category were able to write solutions systematically and were able to use mathematical symbols appropriately. However, DMR students are less able to understand the problem so there is a mistake in solving it. The difference in students' abilities can be seen from the ability to graph. DMT students draw graphs precisely. Meanwhile, DMS students draw inappropriate graphs. As for the subject, DMR students are not able to draw a solution graph of the problem.
