Abstract

Abstract

Students’ understanding of physics concepts is an important skill in 21st century education. But the real condition in school still many students were not understand physics concepts, so it need to use innovation learning models, one of them is problem-based learning models. The research aims are: to find alternative ways for high school students to understand physics concepts; and to find out wether there is an effect of problem-based learning models on students' understanding of physics concepts at senior high school. This research type is pre-experimental designs with the Intact-group comparison  model. The population  was students at XI science of SMA Negeri 2 Mataram  in the 2024/2025 Academic Year, it consisting of 8 classes. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Students at XI science 5 as the experimental class and students at XI science 8 as the control class. The Experimental class treated used a problem-based  learning model in learning, while the control class used a direct learning model. The results of data analysis showed that the average value of conceptual understanding in static fluid material for the experimental class was 74 and for the control class was 63. These data were analyzed using parametric statistical tests, namely the polled variance t-test. The results of the hypothesis test showed that the  are 2,4866 and the  are 1,9989, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the problem-based learning model on students’ understanding of physics concepts at high school.

Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance students' interest and motivation in learning science through the introduction of hands-on science practicum. The activity involved 21 seventh-grade students of SMPN 2 Jonggat, Central Lombok Regency. The materials introduced included fluids, Newton's laws, Pascal's law, static electricity, dynamic electricity, and waves. The program was carried out through a series of interactive sessions, including conceptual introduction, demonstration, and simple group-based experiments. The results showed that students demonstrated high enthusiasm, asked more questions, and reported greater interest in science after participating in the activity. Evaluation through a simple questionnaire indicated a positive increase in students' learning interest and motivation. This activity proved that simple and contextual science practicum can be an effective approach to enrich science learning, especially in schools with limited laboratory facilities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine whether or not there is an influence of the PhET-assisted problem-based learning model on student learning outcomes in Wave material. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental research design with Nonquivalent Control Group Design. The population in this study were all students in class XI MAN 1 Mataram with the sample being students in class XI MIPA 3 with a total of 31 students as the control class and students in class XI MIPA 4 with a total of 29 students as the experimental class. The test instrument used is in the form of multiple choice questions. Before the test instrument is given, the instrument is tested first, namely testing validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. The results of the analysis showed that the average score of the physics learning outcomes of students who were taught with the PhET-assisted problem-based learning model was 79.65 and students who were taught without using PhET had an average value of 69.77. The results of testing the hypothesis using the t-test obtained a t-count of 6.45 and a t-table of 2.0017. Thus the value of t-count is greater than t-table then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. This means that there is an influence of the PhET-assisted problem-based learning model on student learning outcomes in class XI MAN 1 Mataram class wave material.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of alternative science kits made from recycled materials on elementary school students’ motivation and understanding of science concepts. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg & Gall development model, which includes the stages of preliminary information gathering, planning, product development, testing, revision, and final product implementation. The alternative science kits were developed using simple materials and recyclable waste materials that are easily found in the surrounding environment, such as plastic bottles, cardboard, straws, used wood, and other recycled materials. The developed products included a simple submarine, hydrostatic pressure apparatus, water wheel, air rocket, magic egg experiment, miniature volcano, and simple electricity generator. The research subjects were students of SD Negeri 6 Mataram. Data collection techniques included observation, student response questionnaires, and science concept understanding tests. The results showed that the use of alternative science kits was able to create a more active, engaging, and interactive science learning environment. Students were more enthusiastic in participating in learning activities because they could conduct experiments directly. Questionnaire results indicated that 78% of students strongly agreed with the use of alternative science kits in science learning. The use of simple teaching aids also helped students understand science concepts more concretely through direct experience and simple experimental activities. Therefore, alternative science kits made from recycled materials can serve as an innovative and economical solution to improve elementary school students’ motivation and understanding of science concepts.
