Abstract

Shallot is an agricultural commodity whose prices fluctuate depending on the season and cannot always be predicted in advance. In order to stabilize prices, the government often imports shallots. The government also imposes tariffs on imports so that the price of imported shallots increases. As a result,  domestic production can be more competitive. Then domestic production can compete with imported goods, so it is hoped that imports of shallots will decrease. This study aims to determine the effect of price and tariff policies on shallot imports using Ordinary Least Square (OLS). In addition, a partial correlation analysis was carried out to identify the relationship between price and tariff policy variables with shallot imports. The results show that the increase in imported shallot prices and tariffs reduces imports of shallots. Those findings indicate that the tariff policy can control the import of shallots. In addition, the tariff policy has a negative relationship with shallot imports.

Abstract

He majority of the residents of Senden Village, Mungkid Subdistrict, Magelang Regency are farmers with the main commodities of paddy whose income from rice farming is very small due to the narrowness of cultivated land (0.3278 ha). To increase household income, residents maintain freshwater fish in the yard of the house or on farms that pass through irrigation channels. This freshwater fish breed has also not yielded encouraging results due to technical marketing constraints. The contribution of freshwater fish cultivation to farm household income is still small, so a member of Senden Women Farmer Group tries to increase the added value of freshwater fish production by processing it into fish chips. This home-based business is not yet developed and economically feasible yet. Therefore, action research activities are conducted to facilitate the mothers of KWT members to pioneer various processed food business with the abundant raw materials available in the village. This research aims to create productive economic activity of Senden Women Farmer Group in order to increase household income by: (1) giving fish fish cracker, fish nugget and fish meatball training professionally, having commercial value and selling merchandise; (2) facilitating the packaging of processed fish products; (3) to provide technical training and storage management of processed fish products to be durable and maintained its quality.

Abstract

The study aims to determine chili pepper’s supplies factors, the dominant factors, the elasticity of supply and disaster mitigation by farmers around the slopes of Mount Merapi in Boyolali District. The research was located in Boyolali District. Multiple linear regression is applied to analyze the data. The result shows that the amount of chili pepper production, the price of chili pepper, the price of red chili and the harvested area have significant effect on supply of chili pepper while the variable price of ZA fertilizer and rainfall are not significant. The variable of harvested area is the dominant factor in the supply of chili pepper. The elasticity of supply for the amount of chili pepper production, the price of chili pepper and red chili both in short and long term are inelastic, because the value of elasticity are less than 1. Meanwhile the variable of harvested area is elastic, because the value of elasticity in the short term and long term are 1,024 and 1,166. There is no disaster mitigation carried out by the farmers if volcano eruption of Mount Merapi occurs.

As a central area for agribusiness of Chili, Magelang needs the development to stimulate investment growth potential by involving all regional agribusiness, government, farmers/ agribusiness and private groups to work together in an integrated. This study aims to (1) Determine the feasibility of chilli farm; (2) Knowing the comparative advantage of the chili farm; and (3) Formulate developing agribusiness of Chili. This research uses descriptive analytical method. On farm analysis, quantitative data are converted and tabulated in the same unit. To determine the feasibility of Chili farm used analysis of R/C ratio. The greater the value of R/C ratio was more viable farm. Determination of comparative advantage of Chili is analyzed by the Policy Analysis Matrix (PAM). PAM results show the individual and collective effects of price and factor policies. Furthermore, this method can analyze the comparative advantage of a commodity. The result showed that Agribusiness of Chili is profitable both the private and social, and there are no disadvantage caused by the activities of Chili agribusiness. Thus agribusiness of chili can be further developed. The nontradeable inputs of chili farming have been used efficiently and provide added value for farmers. Domestic demand of chili is more profitable supplied by domestic production rather than imports. Farmers receive chili prices lower than it should and not get product price protection. Farmers pay the nontradeable input lower than it should. As for the tradeable inputs, farmers pay higher than it should. It can be concluded that the chili agribusiness has not received adequate protection.

Abstract

Indonesia is the largest coconut producer in Southeast Asia. The relatively cheap priceof coconut make this commodity does not provide economic incentives for coconut farmers. Therefore, cooperatives can play a significant role in increasing the value of coconut productsthrough processing coconut into products that have a high added value. This study is carried outby descriptive method through survey and observation to the location of the coconut center, wherethe production and marketing were cooperatives, namely in Purworejo Disctrict, Central Java. Theresults of the study show that cooperatives have played an important role in marketing coconutproducts through coconut manufacturing and marketing to international markets both offline andonline. Coconut farmers who are members of cooperatives get many benefits, including being ableto sell coconuts at higher prices, processing them into high value-added products (VCO, coconutoil, crystal sugar, bath soap and other cosmetic products), and marketing coconut productsthroughout the archipelago and even exporting to the international market. Cooperatives inPurworejo District have succeeded in implementing the industrial system 4.0 in the value chain ofmarketing coconut products.
