Abstract

The development of horticultural farming through agribusiness partnerships can serve as a solution to farmers' limitations in managing agricultural risks. Partnerships have the potential to improve farming productivity and ensure price certainty. However, in some instances, partnership practices may give rise to issues such as dependency and weakened bargaining power for farmers. This research aims to investigate and analyze the potential for enhancing the performance of horticultural farming through the development of agribusiness partnership models in the Sidoluhur Farmers' Group, Cabeyan Village, Sukoharjo District. The research methodology employed is a descriptive case study involving five key respondents, including a lecturer from Universitas Sebelas Maret, the owner of Spesial Sambal, and farmers engaged in cultivation or responsible for the Sidoluhur Farmers' Group. The case study method allows for in-depth investigation into specific cases and facilitates the development of narratives or stories. The research findings indicate that the established partnership model is a subcontracting pattern involving three parties: the Sidoluhur Farmers' Group, PT Waroeng Spesial Sambal, and Universitas Sebelas Maret. The partnership provides market certainty for the farmers with a stable selling price. Importantly, this partnership does not create dependency on PT Waroeng Spesial Sambal, as farmers are free to market their harvests independently.

Abstract

With time it is getting more difficult to solve environmental issues as several people are unaware of the current environmental concerns. Using the ecological footprint analysis, people can know their daily use of natural resources. Therefore, this study aims to determine the ecological footprint of people in Solo, Indonesia. We applied the Ecological Footprint Test to the 152 respondents that consist of students, academicians and ordinary people. Through survey and questionnaire, this study found the relationship between different statuses of occupation and determined which category was more eco-friendly. Furthermore, this study hypothesized about the effects of education level on the use of natural resources and explained that educational level does affect the use of natural resources. Regression analysis was used to examine the determinant of ecological footprint score of the Solo people. The result showed that the estimated parameter of education has positively significant to the ecological footprint of the people of Solo. The higher the education, the higher the ecological footprint score of the Solo people. This is indirectly related to mobility and the goal of earning more income for those with higher education. Therefore, their consumption of natural resources is higher than that of ordinary people. The  economic improvement is directly proportional to increases in income and natural resources.JEL Classification P18; Q01; Q30To cite this article: Mulyawan, M. F., Antriyandarti, E., & and Son, H. The productivity of rice in Karanganyar district can still be improved because until 2010 the average productivity achieved at the farm level was still below potential or the research results were 8 ton ha-1. The low performance of farming because farmers are faced by the situation of limited production factors used in business to achieve the goal of maximizing income/welfare. The popular approach to measure the level of efficiency at the farm level is to use the frontier production function to determine technical efficiency. This study aims to determine the level of efficiency, in term of technical, allocation, and economy. This study also determines the factors that influence the technical and economic inefficiency of rice farming in Karanganyar district. This study uses Stochastic Production Frontier, by using 159 farmer respondents from 8 villages in 4 selected sub-districts. The result shows that rice farming in Karanganyar district already achieved technical and economic efficiency but has not yet for allocative efficiency. Factors of farmer's age, education, experience in rice farming, type of irrigation, and location (regional elevation) affect the technical inefficiency of rice farming in Karanganyar district significantly. While the factors that influence economic inefficiency are the type of irrigation and location. Farming households need to improve their technical efficiency, allocative efficiency, and economy efficiency.

Abstract

Background: This study investigates the influence of regional minimum wages (RMW), gross domestic product (GDP), and inflation on Indonesia's unemployment rates from 2012 to 2020. Methods: Multiple linear regression analysis examines the relationships between these economic variables. Findings: The findings reveal that RMW significantly negatively affects unemployment rates, indicating that a 1% increase in the minimum wage leads to a 3.951% decrease in unemployment, ceteris paribus. GDP also exhibits a significant negative influence, aligning with Okun's law, which suggests an inverse relationship between economic growth and unemployment. In contrast, inflation does not significantly impact unemployment rates during the studied period. Collectively, the three variables positively and significantly affect Indonesia's unemployment rate, with an adjusted R-squared value of 0.749. This implies that 74.9% of the variation in unemployment can be explained by GDP, inflation, and minimum wages, while other factors account for the remaining 25.1%. Conclusion: The study highlights the complex interplay between these macroeconomic indicators and unemployment, providing insights for policymakers to develop effective strategies for managing employment challenges in Indonesia. Novelty/Originality of this article: This empirical analysis reveals the dynamic relationship between RMW, GDP, inflation, and unemployment in Indonesia (2012—2020). The findings provide an evidence-based basis for formulating more effective and responsive employment and economic policies for Indonesia's labour market conditions.

Abstract

Background: Development involves conscious efforts and activities aimed at achieving positive change within a community. It requires the participation of all societal layers, with the government acting as a facilitator and guide. The government and the community must work harmoniously to achieve the desired goals. National agricultural development often focuses on villages close to municipalities, benefiting from hierarchical governance and advanced rural agricultural practices. This development can progress with political support, as outlined in Law Number 6 of 2014 on Villages, which aims to improve welfare, enhance human resources, and reduce rural poverty through sustainable management of local resources and the environment. This study aims to understand the potential and issues facing Ngringo Village, analyze the structural transformations, examine the institutional changes, assess the technology transfer, and identify a suitable agricultural development model. Methods: The research employs qualitative methods, including field observations, interviews with key informants, and analysis of secondary data from relevant literature and official documents. Findings: The results indicate that Ngringo Village has significant potential due to its strategic location and developed infrastructure. However, challenges such as reduced agricultural land and a shift in economic activities from agriculture to industrial sectors are evident. Institutional support through local farmer groups and technology adoption has been crucial in addressing some of these challenges. Conclusion: In conclusion, while Ngringo Village faces challenges due to rapid structural changes and urbanization, the village has managed to sustain its agricultural practices through effective institutional support and technology transfer. The study suggests that a location-based development model, considering both agricultural and non-agricultural factors, is essential for the sustainable development of Ngringo Village. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study produces a location-based agricultural development model that considers both agricultural and non-agricultural factors, providing practical guidance for local governments in planning sustainable development in villages facing rapid urbanization, such as Ngringo Village.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Different regions across Indonesia play crucial roles in advancing the national economy. The regional governments, with their in-depth understanding of local conditions, are best positioned to create policies that align with community needs and foster regional economic development. This research aims to analyze the impact of working capital distribution, investment credit, labor force size, and agricultural land area on economic growth within the agricultural sector in Karanganyar Regency. This study employs an empirical method combined with quantitative research techniques. To meet the data requirements, the researcher used secondary data from Karanganyar Regency for the years 2011–2021. Multiple linear regression analysis techniques were utilized for data analysis. The findings indicate that the distribution of working capital credit and the amount of arable land significantly impact the economic growth of Karanganyar Regency's agricultural sector. In contrast, the distribution of investment credit and the number of productive workers do not have a significant impact. Keywords: Working Capital Credit, Investment Credit, Number of Labor Force, Agricultural Land Area, Economic Growth in the Agricultural Sector
