Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the effectiveness of personalized learning model using digital flipbooks with Sidoarjo local wisdom in improving multiliteracy of elementary school students. Method: This study used quantitative with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample was 27 students from grade five at SDN Kedungsolo, Porong District, Sidoarjo Regency. The instruments used were a cultural literacy test and a reading interest questionnaire. Data were analyzed with two techniques: normality test and hypothesis test using SPSS for cultural literacy, and outer loading, validity, and reliability analysis for the questionnaire using SmartPLS. Results: The results showed that the average score of students increased significantly, from 54.07 in the pretest to 87.78 in the posttest, with Sig. (2-tailed) value < 0.05. The questionnaire also showed higher reading interest and awareness after using the digital flipbook, meaning that digital flipbooks combined with personalized learning are effective to improve students’ multiliteracy, both in cultural literacy and reading interest. Novelty: In conclusion, learning innovation with technology that integrates local wisdom can be a good solution to improve the quality of education in the 21st century, while also keeping the value of local culture. This study uniquely integrates a Personalized Learning Model with digital flipbooks featuring Sidoarjo local wisdom to enhance students’ multiliteracy, offering a contextual and innovative approach for 21st-century elementary education.

Abstract

Despite growing recognition of the importance of contextual literacy media, there remains a significant gap in the availability of culturally grounded picture storybooks tailored to students in newly developed regions such as the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the picture storybook “Langkah Kecil Eka di Ibu Kota Nusantara” as a learning medium to improve reading comprehension skills among fourth-grade elementary school students. A qualitative descriptive method was employed. Data were collected through passive participatory observation, in-depth interviews with nine participants (two fourth-grade teachers, one school principal, and six fourth-grade students), and documentation at SD Negeri 006 Sepaku, Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency. Analysis was conducted systematically on four components content/material, language, illustration, and curriculum alignment  using the interactive analysis model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (2014), with data validity ensured through source and technical triangulation. The findings indicate that the book demonstrates high alignment with the Indonesian Language Learning Achievement for Phase B in the Merdeka Curriculum, incorporates contextual local wisdom values of IKN, and presents illustrations that support students’ inferential comprehension. This study contributes an evidence-based feasibility analysis of a locally situated literacy medium, offering a replicable framework for developing culturally responsive reading materials in under-resourced and newly established educational contexts across Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aims to compare the education systems in Indonesia and Singapore in order to identify the fundamental differences, strengths and weaknesses of each system. The research method used in this paper is a literature review which emphasizes the study of appropriate literature as an analytical tool for the issues raised in this research. Data sources include books, journals, papers, articles and other scientific works that are relevant to the object of this research. The results of this research show that Singapore has a more structured and standardized education system with a focus on the quality of the learning process, as well as the development of 21st century skills. In addition, a strict teacher selection and training system as well as adequate facilities and infrastructure also support the effectiveness of learning in Singapore. On the other hand, the education system in Indonesia has made various improvements, including curriculum reform and increasing teacher competency. This comparison reveals that although both countries have the same goal of improving the quality of education, the approaches used differ significantly. This research is expected to provide insight for policy makers and education practitioners in developing more effective strategies to improve the quality of education in Indonesia, by learning from the best practices implemented in Singapore.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low listening skills of 3rd grade students at SDN Gebang 1 Sidoarjo due to the use of monotonous conventional media where listening skills require a comprehensive information synthesis process. The purpose of this study is to produce a valid, practical and effective Canva-based CERMAT (Smart Interactive Listening) E-book learning media for narrative text material. Using the ADDIE Research and Development (R&D) model, data collection techniques were carried out through validation sheets, response questionnaires, tests, and interviews. The results of the study showed that the media was very feasible with validation from material experts of 88%, media experts 90%, and teaching modules 96%. This media is also very practical (student responses 89.08% and teachers 95%) and effective in improving student learning outcomes. The results of qualitative interview analysis supported these findings, where respondents assessed the material as having high accuracy, appropriate curriculum suitability, practical features, and proven to stimulate students' listening focus. In conclusion, the CERMAT E-book media has proven to be valid, very practical, and effective in improving elementary school students' listening skills.
