Abstract

This study aims to find patterns of students' geometry problem-solving abilities after applying learning based on augmented reality-based learning-ethnomatemics apk in terms of spatial intelligence. This study uses a mixed method with explanatory sequential design. The population is students of class VIII Al-Madina Islamic junior high School Semarang 2018/2019 school year. The subjects in this study were students of class VIII selected based on three categories of spatial intelligence, namely high, medium and low. Data collection techniques using tests of students' geometry problem solving abilities, spatial intelligence tests and interviews. The results of this study are learning using project-based learning-ethnomatematics and learning using effective project-based learning-ethnomatatics assisted with augmented reality apk, averaging the three different sample classes, and description of geometry problem solving abilities in terms of students' spatial intelligence in the high, medium, and low categories in project-based learning-ethnomatematics assisted with augmented reality apk obtained the result that the level of spatial intelligence of students may not necessarily describe the level of problem solving ability.

Abstract

This research aims to describe mathematics communication skill seen from self-efficacy on Project Based Learning model with realistic approach assisted by web-video. This mixed method research used sequential explanatory. The population of this research consisted of VII graders of SMP N 1 Bae Kudus, in academic year 2018/2019. The subjects were VII B students, selected based on three self-efficacy categories: high, moderate, and poor. The techniques of collecting data were mathematics communication skill test, self-efficacy questionnaire, and interview. The findings showed that learning by using PjBL model with realistic approach assisted by web video was effective. The descriptions of the skill seen from self-efficacy of the students within high, moderate, and poor categories on PjBL with realistic approach assisted by web – video were varied on each category. Based on 5 high self – efficacy students, there were 4 of them having high communication skill and 1 moderate communication skill. From 21 students with moderate self – efficacy showed 7 of them having high communication skill, 10 moderate communication skill, and 4 poor skill. From 6 students with poor self-efficacy, there were 2 students with moderate communication skill, and 4 with poor communication skill.

Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate how an augmented reality mobile math trails program can provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful mathematical modelling activities. An explorative research design was conducted involving two mathematics teachers and 30 eight grades in Semarang, Indonesia. An Augmented Reality Mobile Math Trails App was created, and several math trail tasks were designed, then students run the activity. Data were gathered by means of participatory observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and worksheets. Data analysis began with the organisation, annotation, description of the data and statistic tests. The findings indicate that an educational program was successfully designed, which offered students a meaningful mathematical experience. A mobile app was also developed to support this program. The mobile app with augmented reality features is helpful for students as a tool that bridges the gap between real-world situations and mathematical concepts in problem-solving following the mathematical modelling cycle. The program thus contributes to a higher ability in mathematical modelling. The study identified a link between instrumented techniques in programs and mathematical modelling, as built during the instrumentation process. Further studies are essential for project development and implementation in other cities with different situations and aspects of study.

Abstract

This research aims to describe mathematics connective skill reviewed based on adversity quotient of students on CORE learning model of X graders in learning geometry. This concurrent triangulation mixed method used quantitative data technique by mathematics connective skill test and the qualitative data was obtained by documentation, questionnaire, and interview. The subjects were selected by purposive sampling and consisted of 6 students, each of three students were categorized as camper and climber adversity quotients. The findings showed that different AQ categories would have different mathematics connective skills. It was shown by three climber students met 5 indicators of mathematics connective skills. Meanwhile, 3 camper students met three mathematics connective skill indicators.
