Abstract

Penelitian ini diteliti untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan komunikasi matematis murid yang dilihat dari gaya belajar masing-masing murid. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif, dengan model deskriptif. Subjek yang dipakai yaitu 6 murid dari kelas VIII SMP. Sarana penelitian yang di pakai dalam riset ini berupa angket gaya belajar dan tes komunikasi matematis murid. Dari hasil angket dapat kita ambil kesimpulan bahwa murid yang mempunyai gaya belajar visual dapat di kategorikan ke dalam murid yang mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang tinggi, sedang murid yang mempunyai gaya belajar auditori mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematis sedang, serta murid yang memiliki gaya belajar kinestetik memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang rendah.

Abstract

Pascasarjana UMN Al Washliyah merupakan program studi lanjut yang bertujuan menghasilkan lulusan berkualitas, berdaya saing tinggi, dan berkarakter Islami. Program ini menawarkan empat program studi: Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia, Pendidikan Matematika, Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, dan Hukum, dengan akreditasi "Baik Sekali". Salah satu komponen penting dalam program ini adalah Kuliah Kerja Lapangan (KKL), yang bertujuan mengembangkan kemampuan intelektual, emosional, dan sosial mahasiswa melalui pengabdian kepada masyarakat. KKL dirancang sebagai kegiatan pembelajaran lapangan yang mendukung penguasaan materi akademik sekaligus membangun karakter mahasiswa. Pelaksanaan KKL diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi, empati, dan pengelolaan kelas mahasiswa. Kendala utama yang dihadapi selama KKL meliputi pengelolaan waktu, perbedaan karakteristik mahasiswa, dan tingkat antusiasme mahasiswa dalam proses belajar mengajar. Beberapa upaya dilakukan untuk mengatasi hambatan tersebut, seperti penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang bervariasi dan pendekatan personal terhadap mahasiswa yang memerlukan perhatian khusus. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa berhasil memperoleh pengalaman nyata dalam mengajar, menyusun Rencana Pembelajaran Semester (RPS), mengelola kelas, serta mengevaluasi proses dan hasil pembelajaran. Selain Pascasarjana UMN Al Washliyah, Sekolah Tinggi Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan (STKIP) Budidaya Binjai juga memiliki komitmen tinggi terhadap kualitas pendidikan. STKIP Budidaya menawarkan berbagai program studi dengan dukungan fasilitas yang memadai serta dosen profesional dan berdedikasi tinggi. Fasilitas seperti laboratorium, perpustakaan, dan beasiswa turut mendukung proses pembelajaran yang optimal. Secara keseluruhan, baik Pascasarjana UMN Al Washliyah maupun STKIP Budidaya Binjai berupaya mencetak lulusan berkualitas tinggi yang mampu bersaing di tingkat nasional dan internasional. Melalui kegiatan seperti KKL, diharapkan mahasiswa tidak hanya memperoleh pengetahuan akademis tetapi juga kemampuan praktis dalam menghadapi tantangan global.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning assisted by ChatGPT in improving students' mathematical critical thinking and mathematical resilience. The study employed a quantitative quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group involving three intact seventh-grade classes at UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Buntu Pane in the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample consisted of 65 students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a four-item essay test of mathematical critical thinking and a 20-item mathematical resilience questionnaire. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, normalized gain, assumption tests, one-way ANOVA, post hoc comparison, and two-way analysis at a 5% significance level. The results indicate significant differences among the three learning models in mathematical critical thinking and resilience. PBL assisted by ChatGPT produced the highest normalized gain for critical thinking (0.584) and resilience (0.746). Post hoc analysis showed that PBL assisted by ChatGPT and ordinary PBL did not differ significantly in critical thinking, but PBL assisted by ChatGPT was significantly superior in mathematical resilience. These findings suggest that the pedagogical strength of PBL lies in promoting critical reasoning, whereas ChatGPT contributes additional value by providing adaptive scaffolding that supports students' confidence, persistence, and willingness to re-engage with mathematical challenges.

Abstract

This study used Realistic Problem-Based Learning (RPBL) on plane geometry material, namely plane figures, to improve students' visual thinking and mathematical problem solving. Geometry Project-Based Learning encourages visual and mathematical problem solving. This quasi-experimental quantitative study used a non-equivalent control group. All ninth-grade students of SMP Harapan 3 Medan participated in the survey. Class IX D (28 students) was the experimental class, and class IX E (29 students) was the control class. Pemilihan subjek dilakukan secara purposive sampling. The instrument used was a written test of visual thinking and mathematical problem-solving abilities. Visual reasoning and numerical problem solving were examined before and after the intervention. N-Gain and statistical testing measured student improvement. Visual reasoning increased from 58.21 to 82.36 in the experimental class. Mathematics problem solving scores increased from 56.47 to 81.12. A significance value of 0.000 <0.05 indicates a significant difference between the experimental and control classes in hypothesis testing. N-Gain found that experimental students improved slightly more than control students. This indicates that RPBL improves students' numeracy and visual abilities. This indicates that RPBL improves students' visual thinking and mathematical problem-solving skills. This research demonstrates that RPBL can be an innovative, contextual, and alternative arithmetic learning strategy.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop student worksheets (SW) by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the DEEPIR model, aligning with an outcome-oriented instructional framework to improve HOTS and learning products (innovative learning media and scientific publications).Methodology – This study employed a design research approach, implemented through three main stages: preparation and design, design experiment, and retrospective analysis. The research participants were 22 students of Mathematics Education enrolled in the Learning Media course. The research instruments included observation sheets, validation and practicality sheets, HOTS-based tests, and product assessment rubrics. Data were obtained through learning observations and analysis of the validity, practicality, effectiveness, and results of student products. All data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially to assess the quality of the student worksheets.Findings – The study's results demonstrate high levels of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The n-gain value is 0.783 (high category). All students (100%) successfully produced innovative learning media products that met the criteria for content and pedagogical validity. In addition, 82% of students published scientific articles in nationally accredited journals with a minimum Sinta 4 rating. These findings indicate that AI-integrated DEEPIR-based student worksheets significantly improve HOTS and students' ability to produce media products and scientific articles.Contribution – This study produce a replicable model that educators can adapt to design learning instruments that foster cognitive engagement and academic products. Strategically, this study emphasizes the importance of adopting AI-based learning tools to strengthen the quality, relevance, and global competitiveness of higher education.

Abstract

Strengthening 21st-century competencies requires students to possess strong critical thinking skills and the ability to solve problems effectively. One effort to support this is through the implementation of instructional models that are relevant to current educational demands, such as Problem-Based Learning based on the Pancasila Student Profile. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental research method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The results showed that students' critical thinking skills in experimental class I, namely students taught using the Pancasila Student Profile-based Problem Based Learning learning model in class X-1 SMA Panca Budi on the material of the Three-Variable Linear Equation System, were in the Very Good category. While in experimental class II, students taught using the Problem Based Learning learning model in class X-2 SMA Panca Budi on the material of the Three Variable Linear Equation System are in the Good category. The mathematical problem solving ability of students in experimental class I, namely students taught using the Problem Based Learning learning model based on the Pancasila Student Profile in class X-1 SMA Panca Budi on the material of the Three Variable Linear Equation System is in the Very Good category. While in experimental class II, students who were taught using the Problem Based Learning learning model in class X-2 SMA Panca Budi on the material of the Three Variable Linear Equation System were in the Bai category. There is a significant difference in the critical thinking and mathematical problem solving skills of students taught using the Problem Based Learning learning model based on the Pancasila Student Profile which is known to be better in improving students' critical thinking and mathematical problem solving skills.

Abstract

This study aims to map students’ trajectories of mathematical representation across five Habits of Mind performance levels in solving similarity and congruence problems. Unlike previous descriptive studies, which generally examine the relationship between mathematical representation ability and Habits of Mind, this study emphasizes how students’ pictorial, symbolic, and verbal representations develop, intersect, and differ across performance levels. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed involving 30 ninth-grade junior high school students selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected using a mathematical representation ability test, a Habits of Mind questionnaire, and semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal five representation trajectories. At the beginner level, students’ representations were fragmented and lacked meaningful connections to the problem. At the limited level, representations began to appear but remained partial, inconsistent, and procedurally weak. At the developing level, students showed emerging ability to connect pictorial, symbolic, and verbal forms, although conceptual errors still occurred. At the proficient level, students demonstrated more structured symbolic and pictorial representations, but their written verbal explanations still required refinement. At the superior level, students were able to coordinate representations flexibly, systematically, and meaningfully. A notable finding is that representation development does not always progress linearly; some students at the developing level showed representational characteristics close to the proficient level. Therefore, this study contributes a five-level trajectory map that explains the dynamics of students’ mathematical representation ability through the lens of Habits of Mind performance.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan bahan ajar statistika berbasis Project Based Learning (PjBL) untuk mendukung literasi statistika siswa kelas VIII SMP. Penelitian menggunakan metode Research and Development dengan model ADDIE yang meliputi analysis, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas tiga validator, satu guru matematika, dan 26 siswa kelas VIII SMP Swasta Methodist-2 Kisaran. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, validasi ahli, angket praktikalitas, dokumentasi, dan penilaian hasil proyek siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar yang dikembangkan berbentuk modul dengan topik analisis data hobi siswa dan memuat petunjuk penggunaan, tujuan pembelajaran, materi, kegiatan proyek, lembar kerja siswa, rubrik penilaian, serta refleksi. Hasil validasi ahli memperoleh skor rata-rata 3,41 dengan kategori sangat baik. Kepraktisan bahan ajar mencapai 100% menurut guru dan sekitar 92% menurut siswa dengan kategori sangat praktis. Capaian literasi statistika siswa berada pada kategori baik untuk indikator pengumpulan dan penyajian data, sedangkan indikator analisis, penarikan kesimpulan, dan argumentasi berbasis data masih memerlukan pendampingan. Dengan demikian, bahan ajar statistika berbasis PjBL dinyatakan valid, sangat praktis, dan memiliki potensi efektivitas dalam mendukung literasi statistika siswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis learning obstacles dalam pemahaman konsep operasi penjumlahan dan pengurangan bilangan bulat siswa kelas VII di UPTD SMP Negeri 2 Pulo Bandring. Fokus penelitian meliputi tingkat pemahaman konsep siswa, bentuk hambatan belajar, keterkaitan hambatan dengan kesalahan siswa, serta faktor penyebabnya. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif-eksploratif dengan subjek utama delapan siswa kelas VII yang dipilih secara purposive berdasarkan variasi hasil tes diagnostik. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes diagnostik, wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data dilakukan melalui reduksi data, penyajian data, penarikan kesimpulan, serta triangulasi data tes, wawancara, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep siswa masih didominasi oleh pemahaman instrumental dan transisi, sedangkan pemahaman relasional belum tampak secara utuh. Hambatan yang ditemukan meliputi epistemological obstacles, didactical obstacles, dan ontogenic obstacles, dengan epistemological obstacles sebagai hambatan paling dominan. Kesalahan utama siswa berkaitan dengan miskonsepsi bilangan negatif, penggunaan aturan tanda secara mekanis, kesulitan membedakan tanda operasi dan tanda bilangan, serta ketidakmampuan mengaitkan simbol dengan konteks. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran bilangan bulat perlu dirancang secara kontekstual, menggunakan representasi konkret, dan memberi ruang bagi siswa untuk menjelaskan proses berpikir matematisnya.
