Abstract

One of the nutritional problems of adolescent female in Southeast Asia is iron deficiency anemia, with an estimated 25-40 percent of adolescent female experiencing mild to severe anemia. The impact of this on teenagers is a decline in academic abilities at school due to a lack of enthusiasm for learning and concentration on learning. This research aims to determine the effect of e-booklet anemia prevention media on young women at SMAN 1 Turen. This research uses an experimental method, namely a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest approach. The subjects of this research were 50 female students. The results of the study showed that there was an influence of e-booklet anemia prevention media on the level of knowledge (p value is 0.000 less than 0.05) and attitudes (p value is 0.032 less than 0.05) of young women at SMAN 1 Turen. There was a significant influence on knowledge and attitudes before and after being given treatment in the form of education using e-booklet media

Abstract

Background: Child malnutrition is a global challenge in Indonesia, specifically in Mataram City, primarily attributed to the low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding. One potential strategy to address this challenge is increasing health knowledge through health promotion media, such as conventional and digital booklet. Objectives: This study aims to implement interventions using both conventional and digital booklet media, compare the two types of booklet, and determine which type is more accepted by the community. Methods: A pre-experimental method with a cross-sectional design was conducted using a one-group pretest-posttest approach comprising 96 mothers with infants aged 6 to 24 months in the Cakranegara and Ampenan Puskesmas areas. Data were collected using questionnaires to assess maternal knowledge and attitude both before and after the intervention. The differences in knowledge and attitude were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test. Results: The results showed that the intervention of digital booklet did not produce a statistically significant difference in the enhancement of knowledge or attitude among the respondents (p-value>0.05). Conversely, the intervention of conventional booklet showed a statistically significant difference in attitude (p-value<0.05), and no significant difference was observed in knowledge (p-value>0.05). Conclusions: The intervention of conventional booklet produced a greater increase in knowledge and attitude compared to digital booklet. Therefore, it can be concluded that conventional booklet is more accepted by the community than digital.

Abstract

Caffeine is one of the most widely consumed ergogenic substances worldwide, with an average daily intake among adults ranging from approximately 100–200 mg/day. In sports contexts, caffeine is commonly used at doses of around 3–6 mg/kg body weight to enhance athletic performance. However, most research on the ergogenic effects of caffeine has primarily focused on male or mixed populations, despite evidence that physiological and hormonal differences may influence female athletes’ responses to caffeine supplementation. This study aimed to systematically review current scientific evidence regarding the effects of caffeine supplementation on the physical and psychophysiological performance of elite female athletes. This study employed a systematic review design in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Literature searches were conducted in the PubMed and Scopus databases for publications from 2016 to 2025. Inclusion criteria were determined using the PICOS framework, focusing on controlled experimental studies involving elite female athletes. Of the 2,254 articles identified, nine studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed qualitatively. Most studies used randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover designs and reported that caffeine supplementation at doses of 2.3–6 mg/kg body weight improved strength, speed, cognitive response, and exercise enjoyment. However, the results were not always consistent, particularly among athletes with high habitual caffeine intake or when lower doses were administered. In conclusion, caffeine may enhance the performance of elite female athletes. Nevertheless, the existing literature presents several limitations, including the limited number of studies, small sample sizes, and variability in study design, caffeine dosage, and control of hormonal factors such as the menstrual cycle. Therefore, caffeine use in female athletes requires a more individualized and gender-specific supplementation approach.
