Abstract

This study addresses the pervasive issue of academic anxiety among undergraduates completing their theses, focusing on the Faculty of Psychology and Education at a prominent university. With a sample of 200 students, drawn using accidental sampling, the research explores the relationship between self-efficacy and academic anxiety. Self-efficacy was measured using a scale encompassing magnitude, strength, and generality, while academic anxiety was assessed through emotional, cognitive, and physical dimensions. Employing Rank Spearman correlation and SPSS 25.0, the analysis revealed a significant negative correlation (ρxy = -0.186, p < 0.05), underscoring the inverse connection between self-efficacy and academic anxiety during thesis work. These findings emphasize the potential of bolstering self-efficacy to mitigate academic anxiety, offering insights for educational institutions and practitioners to foster more confident and less anxious thesis pursuits. Highlights: Significant Relationship: The study uncovers a noteworthy negative relationship (ρxy = -0.186, p < 0.05) between self-efficacy and academic anxiety among students engaged in thesis work. Multi-Dimensional Assessment: Self-efficacy and academic anxiety were assessed through scales encompassing various dimensions, offering a comprehensive perspective on the interplay between these factors. Implications for Education: The findings underscore the potential of enhancing self-efficacy to alleviate academic anxiety during thesis pursuits, suggesting practical strategies for educational institutions to better support students in their research endeavors. Abstract

This study explores how self-efficacy influences academic self-adjustment among new students in the Faculty of Psychology and Education at the University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. Using quantitative correlational research, we analyzed data from 354 students, with a sample size of 181 determined through the Krejcie-Morgan table. The self-efficacy and academic self-adjustment scales showed high reliability (Cronbach's alpha scores of 0.830 and 0.825, respectively). Results from simple linear regression indicated a positive relationship between self-efficacy and academic self-adjustment, with self-efficacy contributing significantly to 8.2% of the variance. This highlights the importance of bolstering self-efficacy beliefs to aid new students in their academic adaptation during the college transition, particularly in psychology and education faculties. Abstract

Sitting endurance in early childhood is a critical aspect of successful classroom learning, particularly as children transition into more structured educational environments. Previous studies have noted that many early learners struggle to remain seated for developmentally appropriate durations, hindering their ability to engage effectively in learning activities. However, limited empirical research has addressed instructional strategies tailored to improve sitting endurance in PAUD (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini) students. This study aims to investigate the role of the Picture and Picture method, a visually driven and kinesthetic teaching approach, in supporting sitting endurance among early childhood learners. Utilizing a single-subject quantitative quasi-experimental design with an A-B-A framework and interrupted time series, one five-year-old male student was observed under three conditions: pre-intervention, during intervention, and post-intervention. Visual data analysis showed an increase in sitting duration from 7–10 minutes during the baseline to 20–25 minutes post-treatment. The novelty of this study lies in applying the Picture and Picture method not only for cognitive outcomes but also for behavioral endurance. These findings imply that integrating visual-kinesthetic strategies may support behavioral readiness in early learners, offering practical guidance for PAUD educators seeking to prepare children for structured learning environments. Highlight: Supports sitting behavior through visual-kinesthetic learning. Uses single-subject A-B-A experimental design. Offers practical insights for PAUD instructional methods Keyword: Sitting Endurance, Early Childhood Education, Picture and Picture, Visual Learning, Classroom Behavior
