Abstract

This study aimed to analyze Al-Ghazali’s concept of moral education (tarbiyat al-akhlaq) and its implementation at MTs SA Al-Islam Jamsaren Surakarta by examining the roles of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers, the moral education methods applied, students’ responses and behaviours, the challenges encountered, and the efforts undertaken to address them. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive–analytical design, with data obtained through in-depth interviews with Aqidah Akhlak and Al-Qur’an Hadith teachers and BK teachers, observations of student behaviour, and document analysis. The findings show that moral education at MTs SA Al-Islam Jamsaren Surakarta is implemented in an integrated manner through PAI learning, religious habituation activities, enforcement of school rules, and guidance and counseling services. The methods used include role modelling, habituation, persuasive advice, and the application of educational reward and punishment. Students’ responses to the moral education programs are generally positive, although the level of internalization of moral values varies due to differences in family background, peer environment, and exposure to digital media. The main challenges identified include limited instructional time, diversity of student characteristics, and insufficient synergy with the family environment. Efforts to overcome these constraints are carried out through strengthening teachers’ exemplary conduct, consistently habituating virtuous behaviour, adopting humanistic counseling approaches, and enhancing cooperation between the madrasah and parents. These findings indicate that the implementation of moral education at MTs SA Al-Islam Jamsaren Surakarta is conceptually and practically aligned with Al-Ghazali’s thought, which emphasizes spiritual cultivation, habituation, and gradual, continuous character formation.

Abstract

Although the topic of progressive Muslims has received attention in several previous studies, research that specifically examines how such progressiveness is understood within the framework of the Islamic worldview remains limited. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of progressive Muslims, elaborate their basic conceptual foundations, and explain how progressiveness is understood through the lens of the Islamic worldview. A qualitative approach with a literature-based study design was employed, drawing on various primary and secondary sources from thinkers such as Al-Attas, Abdullah Saeed, and Omid Safi. Data were collected through documentation of books and scholarly journals and were analysed using a descriptive-analytical technique to critically examine the emerging concepts and arguments. The findings indicate that the characteristics of progressive Muslims include critical thinking, an orientation towards social justice, and openness to science and technology while remaining grounded in tauhid. These findings contribute to the development of Islamic worldview theory and broaden understanding of Islamic thought in the modern era. The study concludes that progressiveness can function as a bridge between tradition and modernity that must remain firmly rooted in revelation and the objectives of the law (maqaṣid al-shariʿah), and that it encourages Muslim scholars and educators to integrate modern scientific knowledge with the foundational values of Islam. The implications of this study include a theoretical contribution to enriching the literature on contemporary Islamic thought and practical implications for educational institutions in developing holistic curricula, while also opening avenues for further exploration of the application of progressive values in issues of digital ethics and bioethics.

Abstract

Islamic education is oriented not only towards the acquisition of knowledge but also towards the formation of the whole person through the integration of knowledge, adab, and akhlak, making the study of classical–modern thinkers and the relevance of their ideas to the national education curriculum crucial for addressing contemporary educational challenges. This study aimed to discuss the concept of Islamic education according to KH. Hasyim Asy’ari and analyse its relevance to the Kurikulum Pendidikan Nasional (National Education Curriculum) in Indonesia. A qualitative approach was employed using a literature study method of the works of KH. Hasyim Asy’ari, particularly Adab al-‘Ālim wa al-Muta‘allim, as well as various other relevant sources that examine educational thought and Islamic values. The findings show that KH. Hasyim Asy’ari views education as a process sof forming individuals who are faithful, pious, and possess noble character through the principles of prioritising adab before knowledge, sincerity in seeking and teaching knowledge, teacher exemplarity, and the integration of knowledge and practice. This concept of Islamic education is strongly aligned with the aims and direction of the National Education Curriculum, particularly in strengthening character education, developing teacher professionalism, mainstreaming religious moderation, and fostering students in a holistic manner. The study concludes that integrating KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s Islamic educational values into the national education system is a strategic step to address modern educational challenges, especially in building students’ character, morality, and spirituality in a sustainable way.

Abstract

This study assessed the operational feasibility of a horizontal cylindrical pressure vessel used for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage at PT. XYZ in Yogyakarta. The evaluation included data collection, visual inspection, thickness measurement, and the calculation of the Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP) following the ASME Section VIII Division I-UG-27 standard. Results indicated that the vessel’s actual shell thickness of 14.8 mm exceeded the minimum required thickness of 14.66 mm, and the head thickness of 16.4 mm was above the required 14.57 mm, confirming structural adequacy. The calculated MAWP for the cylindrical shell was 1.78 MPa (18.14 kg/cm²) and 1.99 MPa (20.29 kg/cm²) for the ellipsoidal head—both higher than the design pressure of 1.765 MPa (18 kg/cm²). Additionally, hydrostatic testing at 23.40 Kg/cm² (about 30% above the design pressure) showed no leakage or deformation, validating the vessel’s mechanical integrity. Additionally, the unit complied with Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) dan pressure vessel design regulations, ensuring its safety for continued use. This research underscores the importance of vocational education in technical engineering, particularly in pressure vessel testing and adherence to safety standards. By integrating comprehensive training, professionals are better equipped to ensure the structural integrity and safe operation of pressure vessels in industrial settings. The study provides essential insights into maintaining safety and operational efficiency in pressure vessel applications.

Abstract

Tata kelola air bersih di BUMDes Berkah Maju Bersama Desa Rempoah menghadapi kendala inefisiensi operasional akibat sistem administrasi manual yang menyebabkan lambatnya proses penagihan dan kerentanan data. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan mengimplementasikan transformasi digital melalui penerapan sistem Tirta Desa guna meningkatkan akurasi data, efisiensi waktu, dan kompetensi pengelola. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan selama empat bulan dengan pendekatan partisipatif yang mencakup tahapan sosialisasi, konfigurasi perangkat lunak, migrasi data pelanggan, pelatihan intensif bagi petugas, serta pendampingan teknis berkelanjutan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan keberhasilan migrasi 542 data pelanggan ke dalam sistem digital tanpa kehilangan informasi. Secara kuantitatif, implementasi sistem terbukti memangkas waktu pemrosesan tagihan bulanan secara signifikan dari sembilan jam menjadi 1,5 jam, serta meningkatkan kompetensi enam petugas operasional dengan kenaikan skor evaluasi dari 57,4 menjadi 82,1. Selain itu, tersedianya dashboard berbasis web dan integrasi kode QRCode telah mempermudah pemantauan transaksi secara transparan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa digitalisasi tata kelola air merupakan solusi efektif untuk optimalisasi layanan BUMDes, di mana keberlanjutan program didukung oleh penyusunan standar operasional prosedur dan rencana pengembangan fitur sinkronisasi data luring.

Abstract

Port State Control (PSC) represents a critical mechanism for ensuring maritime safety, environmental protection, and compliance with international shipping regulations. As a member of the Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding (Tokyo MOU), Indonesia conducts PSC inspections to monitor foreign vessels operating within its territorial waters. This study examines the effectiveness of Indonesia's PSC inspections under the Tokyo MOU framework through comprehensive analysis of ship detention trends, common deficiencies, and regulatory enforcement challenges. A mixed-methods research approach is employed, combining quantitative analysis of PSC inspection and detention data from 2018-2022 with qualitative assessments of inspection procedures and regulatory frameworks. Findings indicate that while Indonesia has demonstrated improvement in PSC implementation, significant challenges persist in inspection consistency, resource allocation, and systematic coverage. The study reveals that Indonesia conducts an average of 1,542 annual inspections with a detention rate of 5.2%, yet inspection coverage remains at 35-40% of total foreign vessel arrivals, below the regional average of 70%. The research highlights the critical need for enhanced coordination among maritime authorities, comprehensive inspector training programs, and stricter regulatory compliance mechanisms to optimize inspection effectiveness. The study concludes that implementing a more rigorous and consistent PSC approach will contribute significantly to safer maritime operations and reduced environmental risks. This research contributes to maritime safety literature by providing empirical insights into PSC implementation challenges in developing maritime nations, accompanied by evidence-based policy recommendations to strengthen regulatory practices and advance global maritime safety standards.

Abstract

AbstractTeaching Factory (TEFA) is increasingly recognized as a strategic approach in vocational education for linking school learning with authentic industrial practices through production-based learning. However, limited research has examined how TEFA shapes the professional knowledge of vocational teachers. This study aims to explore and characterize the knowledge developed by vocational teachers involved in TEFA implementation in vocational high schools (SMK), using a socio-cultural perspective within the framework of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). An exploratory qualitative design was employed using a repeated concept mapping method. The study involved 18 experienced vocational teachers from three different fields of expertise who had consistently implemented TEFA. Data analysis distinguished between the content and characteristics of teachers’ knowledge. The knowledge content was categorized into six main components, while its characteristics were examined in terms of concreteness, complexity, specificity, and breadth. The findings indicate that teachers’ knowledge in the TEFA context primarily focuses on occupational competence and the management of production-based learning processes. This knowledge demonstrates high levels of concreteness and complexity due to its close connection with real workplace practices and the integration of pedagogical, occupational, and organizational dimensions. Conversely, knowledge related to students and teacher professional development appears less explicitly articulated. The study concludes that TEFA shapes vocational teachers’ knowledge as a situated and knowledge-intensive professional practice.     Keywords:Teaching Factory, Vocational Teacher Knowledge, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Socio-Cultural Perspective, Vocational High School. AbstrakTeaching Factory (TEFA) semakin diakui sebagai pendekatan strategis dalam pendidikan vokasi untuk menghubungkan pembelajaran di sekolah dengan praktik industri yang autentik melalui kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis produksi. Namun, penelitian yang mengkaji bagaimana TEFA membentuk pengetahuan profesional guru vokasi masih terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dan mengkarakterisasi pengetahuan yang dikembangkan oleh guru vokasi yang terlibat dalam implementasi TEFA di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK), dengan menggunakan perspektif sosio-kultural dalam kerangka Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kualitatif eksploratif dengan metode concept mapping berulang. Sebanyak 18 guru vokasi berpengalaman dari tiga bidang keahlian yang secara konsisten menerapkan TEFA terlibat dalam penelitian ini. Analisis data berfokus pada pembedaan antara isi dan karakteristik pengetahuan guru. Isi pengetahuan dikategorikan ke dalam enam komponen utama, sedangkan karakteristiknya dianalisis berdasarkan tingkat kekonkretan, kompleksitas, spesifisitas, dan keluasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan guru dalam konteks TEFA terutama berfokus pada kompetensi okupasional dan pengelolaan proses pembelajaran berbasis produksi. Pengetahuan ini menunjukkan tingkat kekonkretan dan kompleksitas yang tinggi karena berkaitan erat dengan praktik kerja nyata serta mengintegrasikan dimensi pedagogis, okupasional, dan organisasional. Sebaliknya, pengetahuan yang berkaitan dengan peserta didik dan pengembangan profesional guru cenderung kurang terungkap secara eksplisit. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa TEFA membentuk pengetahuan guru vokasi sebagai praktik profesional yang bersifat kontekstual dan intensif pengetahuan. Kata Kunci:            Teaching Factory, Pengetahuan Guru Vokasi, Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Vokasi (TVET), Perspektif Sosio-Kultural, Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan.
