Abstract

Background: West Java is the province with the highest number of productive age population in Indonesia. The productivity of this age group is significantly influenced by health and education factors, with health teaching materials serving as educational tools. Among the challenges that hinder the productivity of active adults, chronic disease poses a significant threat. Purpose: This study aimed to describe the cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid examinations in active adults, including the need for health teaching materials. Method: The sampling method used was purposive sampling, with inclusion criteria being active adults aged 18 to 60 years, who work or study at an educational institution in Bandung Regency. Meanwhile, adults with mental illness were excluded, resulting in a sample size of 70 participants. The method for checking cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid used a Glucose Cholesterol Uric acid (GCU) meter. Results: The results showed that 12 adults had high cholesterol levels, while 6 had elevated blood sugar and uric acid levels. In the young age group (aged 18-44 years), 2 adults experienced hypercholesterolemia. The most sought-after teaching material for chronic disease was preventing sugar intake in soft drinks and the benefits of enhancing a healthy lifestyle through education. Furthermore, establishing prevention programs in educational institutions is an essential requirement to prevent the development of chronic and safeguard the productivity of active adults. Conclusions: Based on the results, it was recommended that productive and active adults receive training in chronic disease awareness and facilitate regular general check-ups (GCUs). This proactive approach was expected to contribute to the development and health security of the country.

Abstract

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of international agreements on efforts that must be made to create a just, prosperous, and safe world for humans and the planet Earth. Efforts to achieve SDG number 2, namely "zero hunger", need to be done by implementing sustainable agriculture. This article explains the implementation of sustainable agriculture in West Sumatra Province, which has prepared a "Regional Action Plan for Sustainable Development Goals." In the RAD, it is stated that the Provincial Government will build a sustainable food production system. This research was conducted using a qualitative method. Data collection was carried out through interviews with farmer groups and various government agencies, accompanied by a review of related documents. The researcher used a policy framework consisting of four factors proposed by Eyhorn et al. (2019) to realize sustainable agriculture. The results of this study indicate that the first factor, namely the transformation towards sustainable agriculture, is underway in West Sumatra Province. The second factor, namely cooperation with the market to absorb sustainable agricultural products, has been attempted; the other two factors, namely incentives and sanctions related to sustainable agriculture, still need to be implemented.

Abstract

Jungkook from BTS (Bangtan Boys) made history as the first Asian singer to perform at the opening ceremony of FIFA World Cup 2022. While his performance symbolized a significant moment for the Korean wave and its role in Korean cultural diplomacy on the global stage, it drew criticism from some Western countries. This response stemmed from concerns about human rights issues in Qatar, such as the treatment of migrant workers involved in constructing Al-Bayt Stadium. This study aims to analyze the objectives of South Korea's cultural diplomacy in the Middle East through Jungkook’s appearance at the FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony. Employing a netnographic approach, the research involved analyzing social media commentary, particularly by categorizing relevant keywords from Twitter (X) posts connected to this topic. Using frameworks in cultural diplomacy, constructivism, and nation branding, the study finds that Jungkook’s performance served to foster mutual understanding, strengthen international cooperation between Qatar and South Korea, establish a positive image in the Middle East, and further promote South Korea's nation branding on a global scale.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, APEC member countries faced major challenges in achieving infrastructure development goals due to the COVID-19 pandemic impacting various aspects of people's lives and the economy, thus they looked for a way out. This article will use the theories of International Cooperation, International Development, and Dependencies. Issues will be discussed through qualitative research methods and analysis of secondary data sources. In overcoming this issue, APEC carried out the continuation of the plan of APEC Putrajaya Vision 2040, Experience Exchange, and the Belt Road Initiative. The cooperation that was carried out resulted in assistance in facilitating economic cooperation and regional integration. Even so, the cooperation that was actually carried out was planned even before the COVID-19 pandemic and was only carried out more actively to overcome the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that was present. Abstract

This article discusses the role of the West Java Provincial Government in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as a form of inclusiveness of actors within the framework promoted by this agenda. The issue raised in this study is how subnational actors, particularly provincial governments, can contribute to bridging global interests with local needs, as well as how their institutional capacity influences this process. To answer this question, the study uses a global governance framework to analyse the dynamics of subnational actors' involvement in SDG implementation, examining it through a governance activity matrix. Methodologically, this study employs a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis, drawing on literature studies and reviews of policy documents related to the implementation of the SDGs in West Java. The findings show that through the global governance perspective, subnational actors possess the capacity to actively participate and make significant contributions to achieving the SDGs through policy integration that reflects both global and national sustainability interests, while also being relevant to the local context. However, the dispersed nature of the relationship between levels has created several gaps, particularly in certain SDG goals, reflecting the complexity of coordination and the challenges in implementation.
