Abstract

This study aims to implement an evaluation media using the Plickers application in Pancasila and Civics Education subject for class XI-2 at SMA Negeri 6 Kota Gorontalo. The background of this study is the low level of student participation in learning this subject, due to a lack of innovation in implementing classroom evaluations. This study employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) method, conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of this study are 21 students, consisting of 12 male students and 9 female students from class XI-2 at SMA Negeri 6 Kota Gorontalo. Two meetings are conducted in both cycle I and cycle II, with the learning evaluation using the Plickers application implemented during the second meeting of each cycle. The findings indicate that the use of the Plickers application in Pancasila and Civics Education subject can enhance student engagement and assist teachers in evaluating learning outcomes. The advantage of Plickers lies in its efficiency in recording student responses in real time without requiring students' devices. The improvement in student learning outcomes is evident from the evaluation test results, increasing from 62% in cycle 1 to 85% in cycle II. Thus, this study concludes that implementing evaluation media using the Plickers application effectively improves student learning outcomes. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan media evaluasi pembelajaran menggunakan aplikasi Plickers pada pembelajaran PPKn di kelas XI-2 SMA Negeri 6 Kota Gorontalo. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah masih rendahnya partisipasi siswa dalam pembelajaran akibat kurangnya inovasi dalam pelaksanaan evaluasi pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus, yang masing-masing terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 21 siswa, dengan jumlah siswa laki-laki yaitu 12 orang dan siswa perempuan berjumlah 9 orang di kelas XI-2 SMA Negeri 6 Kota Gorontalo. Pada siklus I dan siklus II dilakukan 2 pertemuan, selanjutnya evaluasi pembelajaran menggunakan aplikasi Plickers dilaksanakan pada pertemuan kedua setiap siklusnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan aplikasi Plickers pada pembelajaran PPKn dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran dan mempermudah guru dalam proses evaluasi hasil belajar. Keunggulan Plickers terletak pada efisiensinya dalam merekam respons siswa secara real-time tanpa memerlukan perangkat siswa. Peningkatan hasil belajar siswa terlihat dari tes evaluasi siklus I sebesar 62% menjadi 85% pada siklus II. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa mengimplementasikan media evaluasi pembelajaran menggunakan aplikasi Plickers terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of ChatGPT usage on students' self-efficacy at SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo. The background of the study is based on the growing use of artificial intelligence technologies, particularly ChatGPT, in educational activities. The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. The population consisted of all students at SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo, with a sample of 100 students selected using purposive sampling, targeting those who had used ChatGPT in their learning process. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire measuring two variables: ChatGPT usage and self-efficacy. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 21. The results showed that both the level of ChatGPT usage and students’ self-efficacy were classified as very high. The regression analysis revealed a positive and significant influence of ChatGPT usage on students’ self-efficacy, with a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05) and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.546. This indicates that ChatGPT contributes 54.6% to the increase in students’ self-efficacy. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan ChatGPT terhadap self-efficacy siswa di SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada meningkatnya penggunaan teknologi kecerdasan buatan, khususnya ChatGPT, dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo, dengan sampel sebanyak 100 siswa yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yaitu siswa yang telah menggunakan ChatGPT dalam proses belajar. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner berbasis skala Likert yang mengukur dua variabel, yaitu penggunaan ChatGPT dan self-efficacy. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji regresi linier sederhana menggunakan program SPSS versi 21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat penggunaan ChatGPT dan tingkat self-efficacy siswa sama-sama tergolong sangat tinggi. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara penggunaan ChatGPT terhadap self-efficacy siswa, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05) dan koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,546. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan ChatGPT memberikan kontribusi sebesar 54,6% terhadap peningkatan self-efficacy siswa.

Abstract

In Senior High School 4, Gorontalo City, there are several teachers who only use the lecture model in class when teaching, which creates a mediocre learning atmosphere, as a result, students' enthusiasm for learning decreases. Teachers do not yet understand how to design and implement learning models effectively. Inconsistency of Learning Models with Student Characteristics, Minimal Student Engagement in learning, because learning is only centered on teachers, Lack of Teacher Understanding of Learning Models, Evaluations that are not in line with Learning Models, and there are still many evaluations that only focus on memorization, whereas an effective learning model that can increase students' learning motivation is a learning model that emphasizes students' critical thinking skills. The method used in this study is Qualitative. The results and discussion of this study are In general, the implementation of Problem Based Learning has a significant positive impact on students' learning motivation, especially in terms of increasing involvement, self-confidence, and collaborative learning. However, the success of its implementation is highly dependent on student readiness, teacher support, and a supportive learning environment. The existence of challenges such as the need for high independence and teacher readiness are factors that need to be considered to ensure that Problem Based Learning can provide maximum benefits for students' learning motivation. The disadvantages of the Problem Based Learning Learning Model are that the problem-solving process through PBL takes longer than traditional learning methods. Students need time to understand the problem, conduct research, discuss, and find solutions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the dynamics of women's leadership in the governance of private universities in Gorontalo Province, focusing on the challenges, strategies, and their contributions to the quality of management of higher education institutions. Although the discourse of gender equality is increasingly strengthening in the world of education, the representation of women in strategic positions is still relatively limited. A qualitative approach was used with a case study method through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review in a number of private universities in Gorontalo. The results of the study indicate that women leaders have high adaptive capacity, build collaborative leadership models, and play an important role in driving institutional innovation. However, they still face various structural barriers, including gender stereotypes, patriarchal culture, and lack of internal policy support. This study concludes that empowering women's leadership not only has an impact on more inclusive and responsive governance, but also on improving the academic quality and governance of universities as a whole. The implications of these findings encourage the need for affirmative policies and institutional cultural transformation to strengthen participation in higher education leadership structures.

Abstract

Globalization and the Fourth Industrial Revolution have transformed the structure of society, including the field of education, where learning activities are increasingly dependent on digital technology. However, this development not only brings convenience but also poses challenges in the form of character degradation among students due to the imbalance between technological proficiency and the cultivation of moral values. This study aims to address that issue by focusing on strengthening nationalist character among students at SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo through a collaborative approach involving lecturers, university students, and the school itself. The methods employed include reflective educational socialization, character-based digital literacy training, and intensive mentoring to instill national values.The results reveal a remarkable improvement in students’ understanding and awareness of the importance of nationalist character, accompanied by behavioral changes that increasingly reflect national values. Furthermore, the activity fosters synergy between schools and universities in developing adaptive character education in the digital era. The conclusion of this study affirms that the integration of technology with nationalist character education is a strategic solution to shaping a young generation that is not only technologically proficient but also possesses strong character and a solid sense of national identity.ABSTRAKGlobalisasi dan revolusi industri 4.0 telah mengubah tatanan kehidupan masyarakat, termasuk dunia pendidikan, di mana aktivitas pembelajaran semakin bergantung pada teknologi digital. Namun, perkembangan ini tidak hanya membawa kemudahan, tetapi juga tantangan berupa degradasi karakter peserta didik akibat ketidakseimbangan antara penguasaan teknologi dan penanaman nilai-nilai moral. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dengan fokus pada penguatan karakter nasionalis di kalangan siswa SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo melalui pendekatan kolaboratif antara dosen, mahasiswa, dan sekolah. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi edukasi reflektif, pelatihan literasi digital berbasis karakter, serta pendampingan intensif untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai kebangsaan. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan yang luar biasa dalam pemahaman dan kesadaran siswa mengenai pentingnya karakter nasionalis, serta perubahan perilaku yang lebih mencerminkan nilai-nilai kebangsaan. Kegiatan ini juga membangun sinergi antara sekolah dan perguruan tinggi dalam mengembangkan pendidikan karakter yang adaptif di era digital. kesimpulan dari pengabdian ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi teknologi dengan pendidikan karakter nasionalis merupakan solusi strategis untuk membentuk generasi muda yang tidak hanya cakap secara teknologi, tetapi juga berkarakter kuat dan beridentitas kebangsaan yang kokoh.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Independent curriculum in PPKn learning at SMP Negeri 9 Gorontalo and identify what factors cause the implementation of the Independent curriculum to be not optimal. The Merdeka Curriculum is a form of educational transformation in Indonesia launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) as part of the Merdeka Learning program. This curriculum is designed to provide more flexibility to educational units, teachers, and students in the learning process. The goal is to create learning that is more relevant, in-depth, and in accordance with the needs of the times. The results of this study show that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum has brought significant changes in the learning system, especially in the subject of Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn). This curriculum emphasizes the flexibility of teachers in designing student-centered learning, with character strengthening, Pancasila values, and the application of contextual and interactive learning. Innovations such as the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) and a differentiated learning approach are considered to be able to increase student engagement and motivation. However, the implementation of this curriculum has not been running optimally in various educational units. Various obstacles are still faced, such as limited understanding and training of teachers, difficulties in preparing assessments and lesson plans, and limited facilities and resources, especially in remote areas. In addition, differences in students' readiness and abilities also affect the effectiveness of project-based learning. This research underscores the importance of intensive teacher training, equitable access to educational resources, and consistent mentoring as the main strategies in overcoming implementation challenges. Thus, the Independent Curriculum can be applied effectively and evenly, so as to truly create learning that is on the side of students.

Abstract

The development of the digital era has brought new challenges to the understanding of national insight, particularly among students. As access to information becomes increasingly open, the potential for bias and disorientation regarding national values also rises, especially when not accompanied by adequate knowledge. In response to this condition, this community service activity was carried out with the aim of reaffirming the spirit of nationalism among the younger generation by strengthening their understanding of national insight. The target of this activity was the students of SMK Tridharma, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, involving 33 students and 2 speakers. The method used included participatory and educational approaches, beginning with coordination and initial observation stages, followed by the preparation of materials based on student needs, and culminating in the main activity implementation. The materials provided emphasized the introduction of national identity, the fundamental values of the state, the meaning of national symbols, the importance of unity, tolerance, and diversity. The results of this service activity showed an increase in students’ understanding of national values and the emergence of collective awareness regarding the importance of preserving national integrity. In addition, communicative and interactive delivery methods such as dialogic lectures, group discussions, and value simulations proved effective in enhancing active student participation and making the material easier to understand. This activity also offered space for critical reflection, allowing students to connect national insight with the challenges of the digital era that they face. Thus, this community service underscores the importance of an educational approach that is applicable, value-based, and dialogic in shaping a strong sense of nationalism in the younger generation. This becomes a relevant and adaptive strategy for addressing the dynamics of social change in today’s digitalization era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the condition of school dropouts in Tenilo Sub-district, West City District, Gorontalo City; to identify the contributing factors; and to formulate efforts to address the issue. School dropout remains a serious problem in Indonesia’s education system, particularly in areas with low socio-economic conditions. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, direct observation, and document studies involving dropout students, their parents, teachers, and school officials. The results reveal that the causes of school dropouts are not singular but rather the outcome of complex interactions among various social, economic, cultural, and psychological factors that directly or indirectly influence a child's decision to discontinue their education. Key contributing factors include family financial difficulties, lack of learning motivation, peer influence, social pressure, and inadequate parental supervision. Cultural factors and negative societal perceptions regarding the importance of education also exacerbate the problem. Recommended efforts to address this issue include increasing public awareness about the value of education, providing social assistance, strengthening the role of schools and teachers, and fostering collaboration among government, communities, and educational institutions to create a supportive environment that encourages children's continued participation in education. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kondisi anak putus sekolah di Kelurahan Tenilo, Kecamatan Kota Barat, Kota Gorontalo; mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penyebab anak putus sekolah; serta merumuskan upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk menanggulangi permasalahan tersebut. Fenomena anak putus sekolah masih menjadi permasalahan serius dalam dunia pendidikan di Indonesia, terutama di daerah dengan tingkat sosial ekonomi yang rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam, observasi langsung, dan studi dokumentasi terhadap siswa yang putus sekolah, orang tua, guru, serta pihak sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penyebab utama anak putus sekolah tidak bersifat tunggal, melainkan merupakan hasil dari interaksi kompleks berbagai faktor seperti kondisi ekonomi keluarga, kurangnya motivasi belajar, pergaulan bebas, tekanan lingkungan sosial, serta minimnya perhatian dan pengawasan dari orang tua. Selain itu, faktor budaya dan persepsi masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pendidikan turut memperburuk kondisi ini. Upaya penanggulangan yang dapat dilakukan meliputi peningkatan sosialisasi pentingnya pendidikan, pemberian bantuan sosial, penguatan peran sekolah dan guru, serta kolaborasi antara pemerintah, masyarakat, dan lembaga pendidikan dalam menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung keberlanjutan pendidikan anak.

Abstract

This research aims to explore and describe in depth the role of Pancasila and Civics Education (PPKn) teachers in enhancing students' learning interest in PPKn subjects at SMP Negeri 1 Tapa. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through several techniques, including direct classroom observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning activities. The results indicate that teachers play a highly important and strategic role, acting as facilitators who provide learning support, motivators who inspire students to learn, and dynamizers who create an engaging classroom atmosphere. Through the implementation of engaging teaching methods, using relevant learning media, and the continuous provision of learning motivation, teachers can foster and enhance students' interest in learning PPKn. Teachers also demonstrate attentiveness to individual student learning needs and build harmonious communication to create an effective learning process. In essence, the role of PPKn teachers is vital in shaping students' learning interests, thus emphasizing the need to strengthen teacher capacity and provide support to effectively fulfill this role. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan secara mendalam mengenai peran guru Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan (PPKn) dalam upaya meningkatkan minat belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran PPKn di SMP Negeri 1 Tapa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui beberapa teknik, yaitu observasi langsung di kelas, wawancara mendalam dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi terhadap aktivitas pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru memiliki peran yang sangat penting dan strategis, baik sebagai fasilitator yang menyediakan kemudahan belajar, sebagai motivator yang memberikan dorongan semangat belajar kepada siswa, maupun sebagai dinamisator yang menghidupkan suasana belajar di kelas. Melalui penerapan metode pembelajaran yang menarik, pemanfaatan media pembelajaran yang relevan, serta pemberian motivasi belajar yang berkelanjutan, guru mampu menumbuhkan dan meningkatkan minat belajar siswa terhadap mata pelajaran PPKn. Guru juga menunjukkan perhatian terhadap kebutuhan belajar individual siswa serta membangun komunikasi yang harmonis sebagai dasar terciptanya proses pembelajaran yang efektif. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran guru PPKn sangat vital dalam membentuk minat belajar siswa, sehingga perlu adanya penguatan kapasitas dan dukungan kepada guru agar mampu melaksanakan perannya secara optimal.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are 1. To analyze the implementation of coaching-based academic supervision for elementary school teachers in Telaga District, including strategies, methods, and challenges faced in its implementation, 2. To identify the impact of coaching-based academic supervision on strengthening elementary school teachers' citizenship attitudes, such as attitudes of understanding rights and obligations, responsibility, and empathy, 3. To explore the experiences and perceptions of teachers and principals regarding the effectiveness of coaching-based academic supervision in improving professionalism and internalization of citizenship values. 4. To prepare strategic recommendations for optimizing coaching-based academic supervision as a sustainable coaching model in order to strengthen teachers' citizenship attitudes in elementary school environments. This study uses a qualitative method. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observations and documentation. The subjects of this study were principals and teachers. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of coaching-based academic supervision in Telaga District has been running effectively with a collaborative and participatory approach. The principal acts as a mentor who encourages teachers to develop through constructive reflection and feedback. This supervision is integrated with the learning community (CUSTOM) which strengthens the culture of professionalism and mutual learning. Between teachers. In addition, coaching-based supervision has a positive impact on teachers' citizenship attitudes. Teachers become more reflective in their role as character educators, and more aware of integrating citizenship values ​​such as tolerance, mutual cooperation, and responsibility in learning.
