Abstract

This research aims to provide an overview of the preparation of students from the Department of Electrical Engineering to carry out the Industrial Field Practice program. The method in this research uses a quantitative descriptive method, meaning that this research method aims to express a picture or description of an objective that is arranged using numbers, starting from data collection, interpretation of the data obtained, and the appearance of the research results. The instrument in this research used a questionnaire that was distributed to students. Each statement item on the instrument is assessed using a Likert scale. The data analysis used is a quantitative descriptive approach using averages, standard deviation values, and score categories one to five to determine the extent of data distribution. The results of this research indicate the level of readiness of Electrical Engineering Department students in implementing the Industrial Field Practice program. Several indicators have the same category level, namely the cognitive readiness indicator is in the sufficient category, the affective readiness indicator is in the sufficient category and the psychomotor readiness indicator is also in the sufficient category. So, it can be concluded that the level of readiness of Electrical Engineering Department students to carry out the Industrial Field Practice program can be interpreted as being quite ready as measured by 3 readiness indicators.

Abstract

The implementation of the curriculum as per industrial needs should be improved in terms of qualifications of teachers, tools, practicum materials, and the use of learning models as per industry needs. This study aims to evaluate the used curriculum of light vehicle engineering department as per industry needs. This study uses discrepancy evaluation model (design, installation, process, product and comparison) that describes the implementation of curriculum according to the industry needs from various aspects, namely: design, installation, process, product and comparison. The study results concluded that achievement level of curriculum implementation as needed in the design component obtained an average score of 4.28 (83.17%) classed in a good category; installation components get an average score of 3,502 (78.47%) classified in sufficient categories; process components get an average score of 4.05 (81.75%) classed in a good category; and product components that scored an average of 4.02 (81.26%) classified in a good category. As well as in the comparison component that obtained an average score of 3,324 (74.27%) classified in sufficient categories. The implementation of vocational school curriculum majoring in light vehicle engineering as a whole is categorized as sufficient. Therefore, it needs a follow-up from the relevant parties for a better implementation.; one of which is by revising the curriculum to fit the needs of the industry.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to create a smart assessment system linked to a project-based learning model through a website. It is anticipated that this system will raise the proficiency and productivity of learning evaluation through the implementation of digital technology. The approach applied in this research includes the identification of needs, and the designing of the system, followed by software development and testing. According to the findings of the research, it is evident that the system developed for smart assessment can offer several complex and combined assessment facilities within the system, which would help the educators for easier examination of the student’s performance on a real-time basis. In addition to that, this system also enhances the common work of the students with the educators on completing the project assigned by the latter. Hence, the incorporation of website-based online assessments tries to extend the validity of the PBL implementation approach as well as contribute positively towards embracing positive enhancement in education.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal and analyze how much (1) the contribution of pedagogical competence to the implementation of teacher duties, (2) the contribution of principals' transformational leadership to the implementation of teacher duties and (3) the contribution of pedagogical competence and principals' transformational leadership to the implementation of teacher duties of SMKN 1 Padang both individually and together. This research uses a quantitative approach. The population is all teachers at SMKN 1 Padang totaling 89 people, while the sample is 56 people determined by Stratified Proportional Random Sampling technique and the strata used are educator certification and length of service. Data were obtained using a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of data analysis show that (1) pedagogical competence contributes significantly to the implementation of teacher duties by 19.2%. (2) principals' transformational leadership significantly contributed 8.2%, while (3) pedagogical competence and principals' transformational leadership together contributed 24%. Data analysis has shown that the three hypotheses can be accepted empirically. From the findings, it can be concluded that pedagogical competence and principals' transformational leadership are two independent variables that have a positive impact on the dependent variable of teachers' task implementation. To improve the implementation of the duties of teachers of SMKN 1 Padang, it is necessary to improve through pedagogical competence and transformational leadership of principals properly and responsibly.

Abstract

The Teaching Factory (TEFA) is an educational model designed to bridge the gap between vocational training and industry demands by integrating real-world production experiences into the learning process. While TEFA aims to develop both technical and soft skills, its effectiveness remains underexplored, particularly in rural contexts. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using Tyler’s Goal-Oriented Evaluation Model to assess the implementation of TEFA in the Culinary Program at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. Informants included school leaders, teachers, students, and industry partners. Data triangulation and thematic analysis were used to ensure validity. Findings revealed that while TEFA was fully integrated into daily instructional activities and contributed to students’ technical competence and work readiness, the program fell short in several key areas. These include: (1) vague and non-measurable objectives, (2) lack of alignment between activities and goals, (3) absence of standardized soft skills assessment tools, (4) informal and inconsistent evaluation practices, (5) limited data documentation, and (6) insufficient industry collaboration in performance evaluation. Despite its strengths in fostering industry-like experiences, TEFA’s effectiveness is constrained by gaps in planning, assessment, and feedback systems. Strengthening evaluation protocols, developing rubrics for soft skills, and integrating digital tools for performance tracking are essential to align TEFA with its intended outcomes.
