Abstract

This study analyzes students' perceptions of using Quizizz as an interactive mathematics learning media in the classroom. Quizizz media was chosen because Quizizz is the most popular among teachers and students. Using a quantitative descriptive method, the study involved 60 grade X high school students who had used Quizizz. Data were collected through a Likert-scale-based closed questionnaire, measuring ease of use, learning benefits, and student engagement. The analysis showed that students had positive perceptions of Quizizz, with 80% stating that the platform was easy to use, 75% feeling that Quizizz helped them understand the material, and 70% feeling more motivated. Linear regression tests showed a significant relationship between ease of use, learning benefits, and student engagement in learning motivation. Most students felt more active and motivated while using Quizizz, most likely due to the competitive elements such as the leaderboard and point system. These elements not only boost students' intrinsic motivation but also generate extrinsic motivation through healthy competition among students. The more positive students' perceptions of Quizizz, especially in ease of use and learning benefits, the higher their motivation to participate in the learning process. This study concluded that Quizizz is an effective mathematics learning media, improves learning outcomes, and motivates students to be more actively involved in learning.

Abstract

The presence of the husband as a labor companion plays a crucial role as it can create a sense of safety and comfort, boost the mother's confidence, reduce anxiety about the childbirth process, lessen labor pain intensity, decrease childbirth complications, and speed up the labor process. Therefore, efforts to improve the knowledge and attitude of husbands in labor companionship through the "SUMPING" (Support Suami Pendamping) Module are necessary. The goal of this community service activity is to enhance the knowledge and attitude of husbands in labor companionship. The method used involves providing education/counseling through the module, leaflets, video screenings, and proper labor companionship simulation/practice. The evaluation includes pre-tests and post-tests, as well as blood pressure checks for the mother. The target participants of this activity are 30 pregnant women and their husbands (prospective labor companions). The event will take place in Kelurahan Pinang Kencana, Puskesmas Batu 10. The time of implementation is from June to November 2024.Results: There was an increase in the knowledge of pregnant women and their husbands (prospective labor companions) before and after the education using the module. Suggestions: It is hoped that pregnant women and their husbands (prospective labor companions) will be able to prepare for childbirth by implementing the role of labor companion, utilizing the module as a medium to enhance knowledge, and increasing husband participation in childbirth accompaniment to prevent complications.

Abstract

Interlanguage is a transitional stage in language learning, where a person’s language ability moves from their first language (mother tongue) toward the other language. It is important to note that interlanguage is distinct from the mother tongue and the second/foreign language. This study examines the translation errors made by students when translating from Bahasa Indonesia to English during their interlanguage stage. The study aims to investigate (1) how students translate at this stage, (2) the types of errors they make, and (3) the most frequent errors. Using descriptive qualitative and content analysis methods, ten seventh-grade junior high school students participated in this study whose mother tongue is Bahasa Indonesia, and English is a foreign language/target language. For the instrument, this study uses an individual sentence translation test. The students were instructed to translate four unrelated sentences each, with a time limit of one minute per sentence. The researcher uses sources of error theory from Richard and Lott. The findings indicate that (1) most students tend to transfer the rules of their mother tongue into English. (2) Out of 40 sentences, it found 18 contained errors, leading to 26 mistakes: 8 interference errors (7.7% transfer of structure, 23% interlingual), and 18 intralingual errors (11.5% incomplete application of rules, 30.8% false concept hypothesized, and 27% overgeneralization). Meanwhile, (3) the most frequent error is false concept hypothesized, followed by overgeneralization, interlingual errors, incomplete application of rules, and transfer of structure errors.

Abstract

Peran suami dalam mendukung kesehatan ibu bersalin memiliki dampak besar terhadap keberhasilan kehamilan dan persalinan. Namun, keterlibatan suami seringkali terbatas akibat norma budaya, kurangnya pemahaman, dan minimnya informasi praktis. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, program pengabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan tujuan meningkatkan kesadaran dan keterlibatan suami melalui sosialisasi dan edukasi Buku Saku SUMPING. Buku ini menjadi panduan praktis yang diberikan kepada suami ibu hamil, disampaikan melalui kader Posyandu yang juga diberdayakan dalam program ini. Metode dan Solusi yang ditawarkan pada kegiatan ini meliputi sosialisasi dan pelatihan intensif bagi kader Posyandu mengenai teknik komunikasi yang efektif dan penggunaan Buku Saku SUMPING. Pelatihan ini mencakup simulasi peran untuk meningkatkan keterampilan kader dalam menyampaikan edukasi. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pengetahuan kader. Sebelum pelatihan, 78% kader memiliki pengetahuan dalam kategori Baik, 17% dalam kategori Cukup, dan 6% dalam kategori Kurang. Setelah pelatihan, hasil Post-Test menunjukkan peningkatan menjadi 94% kader dalam kategori Baik dan 6% dalam kategori Cukup, tanpa ada lagi yang masuk kategori Kurang. Program ini tidak hanya meningkatkan keterampilan kader, tetapi juga membantu memperjelas peran suami dalam mendampingi istri selama kehamilan dan persalinan. Direkomendasikan agar program ini diperluas ke Posyandu lain di Kelurahan Batu IX untuk menjangkau lebih banyak pasangan dan memperluas dampaknya.

Abstract

Adolescents are vulnerable to various health problems, including reproductive health, Substance Use Disorders (SUDs), sexual violence, early marriage, and low self-esteem. This problem is more complex in remote areas and islands, limited to formal education and health resources. Conventional approaches such as formal education or counselling are ineffective. Therefore, innovative, interactive, and fun learning media are needed to deliver health messages to adolescents through games. The community service aims to increase students' awareness of reproductive health issues through an innovative approach using the REHAT snakes and ladders game media. This activity did not only cover reproductive health topics such as balanced nutrition and prevention of sexual violence but also taught social values relevant to adolescents' lives. The activity was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Mantang, Mantang Lama Village, Mantang District, Bintan Regency, on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, with 45 students as the respondents. The pre-and post-tests show that the demonstrated group has an increased understanding of the material presented. Before the activity, students' average score of understanding health issues such as balanced nutrition, reproductive health, and drug prevention was 50%. After the activity, it showed that the understanding had increased to 85%. Traditional media that does not require sophisticated technology has also proven effective in areas with limited access. Hopefully, this program can be replicated in other schools to increase the positive impact of using this educational media.

Abstract

This review provides a concise overview of the book "Teacher Development for Immersion and Content-Based Instruction” by Laurent Cammarata and T. J. Ó Ceallaigh, published in 2020 by John Benjamins Publishing Company. The review highlights its significant contributions to the understanding of global language immersion programs. The book, which features significant input from respected scholars, focuses on filling the knowledge gaps regarding teacher development in the context of language immersion and content-based training. The book consists of seven chapters that address various subjects, including teacher language awareness, the development of professional identity, and the difficulties encountered by immersion educators. The review acknowledges the book's thorough approach but points out a possible omission in distinguishing between Content-Based Instruction and Content and Language Integrated Learning The review suggests that the book is a great resource for educators, academics, and policymakers. The extensive examination of both theory and practice renders it an invaluable resource for individuals engaged in language instruction and research.

Abstract

Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan ditemukan permaslahan mitra yaitu kurangnya bervariasi dalam program latihan yang di buat, belum adanya penggunaan tes dan pengukuran dalam cabang olahraga bola voli terutama Teknik dasar dan kurangnya penguatan mental pada siswa yang ikut dalam ekstrakulikuler. Tujuan utama dalam kegiatan pengambian pada masyarakat ini memberikan sosiasilasi dan pelatihan keterampilan gerak dasar bola voli pada siswa supaya siap dalam menghadapi kejuaraan antar SMP serta memberikan wawasan kepada guru setempat tentang bagaiman cara membuat program latihan yang sesuai dengan kaidah ilmu kepelatihan. Adapun metode dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini mengunakan metode ceramah dan sosialisasi dengan memberikan wawasan teknik-teknik dasar bola voli dan cara membuat program latiahn yang biak dan benar. Sebelum kegiatan pengamdian kepada masyarakat dimulai terlebih dahulu diawali dengan memberikan pretest dan diakhiri dengan posttest berupa tes keterampilan dasar bola voli kepada siswa SMP 1 Teluk Keramat yang mengikuti kegiatan ekstrakuliluker sejumlam 25 siswa  Hasil dari kegiatan ini adanya peningkatan keterampilan dasar bola voli siswa SMP 1 Teluk Keramat dilihata dari hasil tes nilai rata-rata pretes siswa sebesar 69,28dan hasil posttest dengan nilai rata-rata 75,32.

Abstract

This study examines the preferences of EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in writing, specifically at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. The study explores how AI tools such as DeepL Translator, Google Translator, Grammarly, QuillBot, and ChatGPT enhance students' writing quality. Data was collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews from 15 students in the English Education program. The results indicate that DeepL Translator is the preferred tool for translation due to its editing flexibility, followed by Google Translator and QuillBot. QuillBot and Grammarly dominate in grammar checking, chosen for their ability to boost students' confidence in writing. ChatGPT is the most commonly used AI for generating writing ideas, while QuillBot ranks highest for paraphrasing. These findings reveal that although AI provides quick and specific feedback, there are concerns about over-reliance on this technology. The study concludes that while AI is a practical writing aid, its use should be balanced to avoid hindering the development of independent writing skills. This research provides important insights into integrating AI in writing instruction in EFL environments.

Abstract

This study investigates how eighth-graders at Nurul Ilmi Integrated Islamic Junior High School feel about using Canva to create recount text media. This study, which took place in the academic year 2023–2024, included 22 participants who used Canva in their English classes. The study examines at the difficulties and shortcomings that students have when writing in English. Utilizing a qualitative approach with phenomenological types, the research methodology focuses on the students' actual experiences. Both questionnaires and interviews, which are descriptive qualitative methods, were used to gather data. The results show that students have a positive view of Canva, believing it to be easy to use, beneficial in streamlining the writing process, and successful in illustrating story ideas. Although there are certain obstacles, like problems choosing a typeface, students acknowledge that Canva has a big influence on their writing and creativity. Canva is a useful tool for improving students' narrative retelling skills and encouraging successful communication in the digital age, according to the study's conclusion. Future research should look into qualitative investigations, comparative analyses with other digital tools, longitudinal studies, and teacher perspectives on incorporating Canva into writing instruction. This study researched by students of the Department of English Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Keguruan, State Islamic University of North Sumatra adds to our knowledge of technology-enhanced learning in writing instruction and highlights Canva's potential in helping students write better retelling texts.

Abstract

More than 90% of maternal deaths are caused by complications that often occur during or around childbirth. Reducing the incidence of childbirth complications requires the active participation of the family, especially the husband. The study aims to find out the use of e-modules and SUMPING videos on the independence of husbands in childbirth assistance. Observational descriptive research with a comparative design of these two groups was carried out on 100 husbands who were divided into groups e module SUMPING and video SUMPING of each 50 person. Data were collected at Midwifery Independent Practice Sites in Tanjungpinang and Bekasi City using questionnaires and observation sheets. Data were processed and analyzed using the chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. The results showed that the variables of education, exposure to information, experience, knowledge, and motivation had a significant effect (p-value <0.05) on the independence of husbands in group e modules and videos, but had no effect on the variables of age and occupation (p-value > 0.05). The results of this study conclude that independence in childbirth assistance can be increased by increasing knowledge and motivation supported by higher education background, information exposure, and experience in childbirth assistance. The use of e-modules and SUMPING videos can be recommended for husbands to increase their independence in providing childbirth assistance.
