Abstract

Coal mining activities carried out openly can have a negative impact on the environment. One of the environmental damages that occurs is the loss of habitat for soil-level insects. This research was conducted to identify the diversity of soil surface insect species in post-coal mining land of PT. Bukit Asam Tbk Tanjung Enim IUP Banko Barat at various ages of reclamation. Soil surface insect samples were collected using the pitfall trap method which was carried out for 1x24 hours. The results showed that the highest presence of soil surface insect species occurred in aged 6 years with a total of 128 individuals and was dominated by the order Hymenoptera. The species diversity index in post-coal mining land aged 6 years, namely 1.51, is classified as moderate. The lowest presence of soil surface insects occurred in aged 2 years with a total of 24 individuals. The species diversity index in post-coal mining land aged 2 years, namely 0.85, is relatively low. Thus, the research results show that the diversity of surface soil insects is influenced by the age of reclamation. The longer the land is managed, the higher the index of diversity of soil surface insect species in post-coal mining land.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The high ability of community environmental literacy can form ideal environmental conditions, but indigenous peoples and urban communities have different understandings of environmental conditions. This study aimed to determine differences in the environmental literacy of indigenous peoples and urban communities on Lombok Island. Methods: The objects of this research are the indigenous people of Bayan Village, North Lombok, and the people of the Dasan Sari Environment, Mataram City, West Lombok: quantitative research methods, quantitative descriptive approaches, and survey research types. Data collection tools are observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Data analysis using SPSS, data analysis techniques by calculating the mean score of the questionnaire. Results: The study obtained a mean environmental literacy value for the indigenous people of Bayan Village at 214.37 and for the Dasan Sari Environmental community at 240.56. The results of the hypothesis testing in this study obtained a significance value greater than 0.05 and t-count < t-table. Conclusions: There was no real difference in environmental literacy between indigenous peoples and urban communities on Lombok Island.

Abstract

Log ratio is one of the change detection techniques often used in SAR image-based flood inundation analysis where the differences in characteristics between its polarizations are expected to complement each other and provide optimal predictions. This research aimed to identify the characteristics of the output generated from various potential combinations utilizing log ratio change detection. The study utilized Sentinel-1 GRD IW dual polarization mode before and during the flood event  as its main datasource. Briefly, the data processing consists of preprocessing, collocation, and change detection, which were subsequently followed by analysis and evaluation. The analysis results indicated a highly significant difference in characteristics among the four outputs of log ratio change, where the combinations of VH1/VH2 and VV1/VV2 detected much smaller changes compared to the combinations of VV1/VH2 and VH1/VV2. The VV1/VH2 combination acts as a counterpoint to the VH1/VV2 combination, as the changes identified in VV1/VH2 showed a tendency towards positive values, whereas the opposite is true for VH1/VV2. The evaluation results show that the highest frequency of errors in detecting changes sequentially was observed in the combinations of VH1/VV2, VV1/VH2, VV1/VV2, and VH1/VH2.
