Abstract

This paper aimed at evaluating such aspects as self-efficacy, research methodology, types of supervisor, and academic writing ability in accelerating students accomplishing final papers. 214 students of bachelor and master programs at Universitas Riau - Indonesia were selected through purposive sampling technique as the participants. This research used Context, Input, Process, and Product Evaluation Model to evaluate those variables. The research findings revealed that (a) there was no significant difference in self-efficacy on the aspects of gender and learning support facilities; (b) in research methodology on the aspect of gender; (c) in academic writing ability on the aspects of gender; and (d) in types of supervisors on the aspects of gender, sources of educational cost, and learning support facilities. However, (a) there was a significant difference in self efficacy on the aspects of the profession, and sources of educational cost; (b) in research methodology on the aspects of the profession, sources of educational cost, and learning support facilities (c) in academic writing ability on the aspects of the profession, sources of educational support, and learning support facilities; and (d) in types of supervisors on the aspect of the profession. In conclusion, self efficacy contributed 59.7%; research methodology 10.4% and types of supervisor 0.1% ---- which is a totally of 70.2% towards the students’ academic writing ability in accelerating students accomplishing final papers.

Abstract

This case study explores the Indonesian learners' reading strategies and identifies high and low-group learners' reading strategies. Semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and open-ended questions were triangulated for validity and reliability data. Several findings were revealed. The Indonesian learners read critically and varied through cognitive, metacognitive, and affective strategies. They applied more cognitive strategies than metacognitive and affective strategies, which was less helpful and less encouraged to think critically. Technology advances, self concept, and time have affected the strategies used. High and low group learners also read differently in terms of cognitive, metacognitive, and affective strategies. The high group learners read efficiently, critically with various reading strategies, while the low group learners are more literal, attractive, but straightforward, and specific in reading strategy. This implied that students need to be facilitated with proper reading strategies and reading facilities and use metacognitive strategy to enable critical thinking and affective strategy to overcome anxiety, fear, and relaxation. The socio-cultural strategy needs to be used by learners to reach the four skills required by the Indonesian new curriculum. Meanings were shaped by social interaction and cultural context, which then created fun learning and a conducive learning environment.

Abstract

Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika siswa pada materi Peluang menggunakan model ―Numbered Heads Together‖ di SMKN 1 Kayuagung. Pola kerja yang diterapkan dalam pembelajaran ini adalah pola kerja praktik atau eksperimen dengan alat secara individual atau kelompok dengan model ―Numbered Heads Together‖. Penilaian atau evaluasi dilakukan melalui ulangan harian dengan bentuk tes uraian bebas pada tiap siklus. Ukuran keberhasilan pembelajaran ini adalah peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi pelajaran matematika yang dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya ketuntasan belajar siswa secara individual maupun secara klasikal serta meningkatnya nilai rata-rata kelas. Hasil belajar menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar matematika siswa senantiasa meningkat pada setiap siklusnya. Pada siklus I ketuntasan belajar individual 29 orang, secara klasikal 80,60 % dan nilai rata-rata kelas 72,42. Siklus II ketuntasan belajar individual 34 orang, secara klasikal 94,4 % dan rata-rata kelas 79,61. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran yang menggunakan model ―Numbered Heads Together‖ pada materi Peluang terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pelajaran matematika

Abstract

The problem based learning model assisted by games in the learning process is able to create fun learning activities and make it easier for students to understand the contents of the material. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Snake and Ladder Board game to improve the science learning outcomes of grade VI students of Elementary School 1 Metro Timur. The method used is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent (pretest and posttest) control group design. The population in this study was 44 students with a sample taken of 44 students. Data collection techniques used tests and non-tests. Hypothesis testing using the N-Gain test produced an N-Gain score of 0.75 with an N-Gain interpretation of 75%. The results showed that the application of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Snake and Ladder Board game was effective in improving the science learning outcomes of grade VI students of Elementary School 1 Metro Timur.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the challenges faced by teachers in developing professional competencies in Social Studies (IPS) instruction at the primary school level. The research background is grounded in the critical role of teachers as facilitators in shaping students’ character, knowledge, and skills through IPS, alongside the various internal and external obstacles that impede efforts to enhance teacher professionalism. A qualitative case-study approach was employed, involving three upper–grade teachers (grades 4–6) at SD Negeri 06 Metro Barat as the main informants. Data were collected via structured interviews and analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that internal challenges include low teacher motivation—often because teaching is not their primary career choice—limited creativity in designing instructional media, and insufficient time for professional development. External challenges encompass a high administrative workload, rapid curriculum changes, and the abstract nature of IPS, which demands concrete media (such as globes and maps) to facilitate student understanding. Work-related stress arising from administrative demands that exceed teachers’ capacities was also identified as a significant barrier. As recommendations, this study suggests implementing sustained Continuing Professional Development programs, creating engaging and relevant instructional media, providing structured administrative support from the school (e.g., guided supervision and reduced bureaucratic burdens), and establishing teacher learning communities to share best practices. It is hoped that the implementation of these strategies will enhance primary school Social Studies teachers’ professional competencies and, ultimately, improve the quality of instruction.

Abstract

Berdasarkan observasi terlihat hasil belajar IPAS beberapa siswa masih berada di bawah KKTP yang telah ditentukan yaitu 75%-100%. Terlihat dari 29 siswa, hanya 17 siswa yang memperoleh nilai (58,62%) yang nilainya ≥75% (memenuhi KKTP) dan 12 siswa lainnya (41,38%) belum memenuhi KKTP. Selain itu, hasil observasi terkait penggunaan model pembelajaran masih belum sepenuhnya dimanfaatkan oleh pendidik, sehingga siswa menjadi pasif dalam proses pembelajaran, mengantuk, bahkan mengobrol dengan teman sebangku selama proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran picture and picture berbantu smart apps creator terhadap hasil belajar IPAS siswa kelas IV SDN 207 Taripa Kabupaten Luwu Timur. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu pre-eksperimental (non-design) dengan metode kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes dengan menggunakan dua tahap tes yaitu pretest dan posttest yang berjumlah 15 butir soal pilihan ganda. Teknik analisis data dengan analisis statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas dengan Shapiro-Wilk, uji homogenitas dengan Levene Test, uji hipotesis dengan uji-t. Hasil uji hipotesis memperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,001 yang lebih kecil dari 0,05, sehingga H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh model pembelajaran picture and picture berbantu smart apps creator terhadap hasil belajar IPAS siswa kelas IV SDN 207 Taripa Kabupaten Luwu Timur.

Abstract

Karya tari Poma terinspirasi dari syair tradisional Doda Idi, yaitu nyanyian pengantar tidur yang biasa dinyanyikan oleh ibu-ibu di Aceh saat menidurkan anak dalam ayunan. Karya ini dikemas dalam bentuk tari kontemporer dengan tipe dramatik dan ditarikan secara berkelompok. Tema sosial yang diangkat mencerminkan kondisi ibu masa kini yang, karena kesibukan bekerja dan pengaruh teknologi, tidak lagi memiliki cukup waktu untuk membimbing anak secara optimal. Dalam pertunjukan ini, gerak tari dipadukan dengan teknik dan dinamika modern untuk menyampaikan pesan emosional yang kuat. Karya Poma menggambarkan bagaimana sebagian ibu kehilangan kedekatan emosional dengan anak, yang berdampak pada ketidakstabilan perkembangan anak, baik secara psikologis maupun sosial. Anak-anak yang kurang mendapatkan perhatian dan arahan yang tepat sering kali mengalami kebingungan dalam menemukan jati diri mereka. Pementasan tari ini tidak hanya sebagai bentuk ekspresi seni, tetapi juga sebagai bentuk refleksi sosial yang mengajak para ibu untuk kembali menumbuhkan hubungan emosional yang hangat dengan anak, serta menjadi pendidik pertama dan utama dalam kehidupan anak.

Abstract

The present study discusses the relatively low literacy skills and reading interest of students in children's fashion lectures. The learning process is not yet fully optimal because the level of understanding and psychomotor abilities of students still vary. The research purpose is to produce comic-based teaching materials for students of the Fashion Education study program to produce products that can be used by students as independent learning resources. The development model used in designing comic-based children's fashion teaching materials is the 4-D model consisting of four stages, namely 1) Define (definition), 2) Design (design), 3) Tell (development), and 4) Disseminate (dissemination). Data collection was carried out using a validation questionnaire from material and media experts. Data analysis techniques used include qualitative data analysis with descriptive methods and quantitative data analysis with validity and feasibility tests. The results of the validity test conducted by material experts produced a score of 91.5% in the very valid category. The results of the media expert validation obtained 94.46% in the very valid category. The practicality test obtained a score of 80%, included in the practical category and the effectiveness test produced a score of 80 in the Good category. Thus, it can be concluded that comic-based teaching materials are suitable for use in children's fashion learning. This product has the potential to be a source of independent learning that supports increasing literacy and reading interest in children's fashion lectures.

Abstract

This research uses a qualitative method with a narrative type, which has the purpose to find out how SMP Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru in using the Cambridge Curriculum. Specifically, this research answers research questions about how SMP Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru uses the Cambridge curriculum and explains the challenges during the implementation of the Cambridge curriculum in English subjects at SMP Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru. This research uses interviews and documentation as data collection techniques. The principal, deputy curriculum coordinator, and six English teachers at SMP Islam As-Shofa Pekanbaru became informants who were interviewed by researchers as primary data. Documentation was subsequently used as supporting data for this research. The results showed that the use of the Cambridge curriculum at As-Shofa Islamic Junior High School Pekanbaru could be said limited in the use of Cambridge curriculum classroom tools in which As-Shofa Islamic Junior High School can access it all because it collaborates with Mentari as the publisher. The use of classroom tools from Cambridge Curriculum in this school is supported by the style of togetherness between English teachers who always discuss together English learning and also the form of supervision carried out by the Foundation and the school that runs smoothly. In addition, teachers still have difficulties in implementing this curriculum. The difficulty is in the form of differences in the background of students' ability to use English. Another difficulty also comes from the British accent used in books and media from the Cambridge curriculum makes teachers more ingenious to be able to convey the material taught so that it can be understood well by students.

Abstract

Kahoot has become a popular application for language learning nowadays. This research aims to find out how the perceptions of the second-year students of SMA Negeri 2 Tambang by using Kahoot application in learning English. The research sample was taken by using the purposive sampling technique that was from second-year students. The number of sample was 72 students. The data were collected by using a questionnaire. There are a total of 30 questionnaire items. A Likert scale was used in this study using survey design with a quantitative research. There are four choices from strongly agree to strongly disagree without using neutral answers. The research result reveals that the second-year students have the perception in which Kahoot keeps motivated, effective to be used as a test or assessment media, is easy to understand and apply by students in learning English. Rests are unsatisfactory like students still felt tense in doing the questionnaire test because of the the timer feature and it is less easy to access due to poor internet networks. Based on the research result, students are recommended to use Kahoot in learning English in the class because it helps them to build their enthusiasm for learning and understand the material more easily.
