Abstract

In general, the compression method is developed to reduce the redundancy of data. This study uses a different approach to embed some bits of datum in image data into other datum using a Reversible Low Contrast Mapping (RLCM) transformation. Besides using the RLCM for embedding, this method also applies the properties of RLCM to compress the datum before it is embedded. In its algorithm, the proposed method engages Queue and Recursive Indexing. The algorithm encodes the data in a cyclic manner. In contrast to RLCM, the proposed method is a coding method as Huffman coding. This research uses publicly available image data to examine the proposed method. For all testing images, the proposed method has higher compression ratio than the Huffman coding.

Abstract

The calculation of white blood cells on the acute leukemia microscopic images is one of the stages in the diagnosis of Leukemia disease. The main constraint on calculating the number of white blood cells is the precision in the area of overlapping white blood cells. The research on the calculation of the number of white blood cells overlapping generally based on geometry. However, there was still a calculation error due to over segment or under segment. This paper proposed an Iterative Distance Transform for Convex Sets (IDTCS) method to determine the markers and calculate the number of overlapping white blood cells. Determination of marker was performed on every cell both in single and overlapping white blood cell area. In this study, there were tree stages: segmentation of white blood cells, marker detection and white blood cell count, and contour estimation of every white blood cell. The used data testing was microscopic acute leukemia image data of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia (AML). Based on the test results, Iterative Distance Transform for Convex Sets IDTCS method performs better than Distance Transform (DT) and Ultimate Erosion for Convex Sets (UECS) method.

Abstract

Under extreme conditions postmortem, dental radiography examinations can play an essential role in individual identification. In forensic odontology, individual identification traditionally compares antemortem dental records radiographs with those obtained on postmortem examination. As such, these traditional methods are vulnerable to oversights or mistakes in the individual identification of unidentified bodies. Digital technology can develop forensic odontology well. An automatic individual identification system is needed to support the forensic odontology process more easily and quickly because there are still opportunities to be created. We aimed to review the complete range of recent developments in identifying individuals from panoramic radiographs. We study methods in gender identification, age estimation, radiographic segmentation, performance analysis, and promising future directions.

Abstract

Feature location is a technique for determining source code that implements specific features in software. It developed to help minimize effort on program comprehension. The main challenge of feature location research is how to bridge the gap between abstract keywords in use cases and detail in source code. The use case scenarios are software requirements artifacts that state the input, logic, rules, actor, and output of a function in the software. The sentence on use case scenario is sometimes described another sentence in other use case scenario. This study contributes to creating expansion queries in feature locations by finding the relationship between use case scenarios. The relationships include inner association, outer association and intratoken association. The research employs latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA) to create model topics on source code. Query expansion using inner, outer and intratoken was tested for finding feature locations on a Java-based open-source project. The best precision rate was 50%. The best recall was 100%, which was found in several use case scenarios implemented in a few files. The best average precision rate was 16.7%, which was found in inner association experiments. The best average recall rate was 68.3%, which was found in all compound association experiments.

Abstract

The different types of implicit reviews should be well understood so that the developed extraction technique can solve all problems in implicit reviews and produce precise terms of aspects and opinions. We propose an aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) method with natural language understanding for implicit reviews based on sentence and word structure. We built a text extraction method using a machine learning algorithm rule with a deep understanding of different types of sentences and words. Furthermore, the aspect category of each review is determined by measuring the word similarity between the aspect terms contained in each review and aspect keywords extracted from Wikipedia. Bidirectional encoder representations from transformers (BERT) embedding and semantic similarity are used to measure the word similarity value. Moreover, the proposed ABSA method uses BERT, a hybrid lexicon, and manual weighting of opinion terms. The purpose of the hybrid lexicon and the manual weighting of opinion terms is to update the existing lexicon and solve the problem of weighting words and phrases of opinion terms. The evaluation results were very good, with average F1-scores of 93.84% for aspect categorization and 92.42% for ABSA.

Abstract

An automatic system for determining mandibular landmark points on panoramic radiography can reduce errors due to differences in expert professionalism and save time. Previous research has shown that the linear regression method is ineffective at predicting condyle and gonion landmark points in panoramic radiography. So, this research proposes an analysis of nonlinear regression methods (support vector machine (SVM) kernel=‘polynomial’, polynomial regression, ensemble regression) for predicting condyle and gonion landmark points. There are four predicted landmark points, namely the right condyle, left condyle, right gonion, and left gonion. The nonlinear regression methods used are SVM, polynomial regression, and ensemble regression. The Dental and Oral Hospital, within the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Airlangga, provides the research data. The research encompasses 119 patients between the ages of 19 and 70, dividing 103 into training and 16 into testing. The research results show that the SVM method is only good at predicting the right condyle point with a mean radial error (MRE) of 4,724 pixels. Meanwhile, to predict the left condyle, right gonion, and left gonion points, it is better to use the polynomial regression method and ensemble regression with an order of success detection rate (SDR) of 37.5%, 18.75%, and 12.5%, respectively.
