Abstract

The community empowerment program in Indragiri Hulu Regency involves elementary school teachers in the production of culture-based documentary videos as part of efforts to preserve local Malay cultural heritage. This initiative, conducted at SDN 005 Batu Gajah, Pasir Penyu Subdistrict, aims to enhance teachers' skills in designing and producing documentary videos focused on Malay culture. The training covers Malay culture theory, the integration of culture into education, scriptwriting techniques, cinematography, video editing, and hands-on practice. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in the teachers' technical skills, evidenced by the creation of four documentary videos: The History of Batu Gajah, The History of Danau Raja, The Making of Kue Bingke, and Silat Pasir Keranji. Although participants were enthusiastic, some encountered technical difficulties due to limited experience with video production tools, highlighting the need for further support and training. This study emphasizes the importance of documentary production training in supporting the preservation of Malay culture and enriching culturally based education. The program is expected to strengthen local curricula with relevant cultural content and reinforce cultural preservation efforts in schools and the community. It is recommended that sustainable training programs with adequate support be implemented to ensure the long-term impact of this initiative in Indragiri Hulu.

Abstract

The ability in Information and Communication Technology or ICT is very much needed nowadays because of the increasing modernization in almost all aspects of life. This ability is also very much needed even since elementary school age. In the education system in Indonesia, there is an assessment program, namely ANBK. This program is intended for students in grade 5 at elementary school level, grade 8 at junior high school level, and grade 11 at high school/vocational school level. One of the schools that participated in this ANBK program is SDN 015 Pasir Keranji which is located in Pasir Penyu District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province. However, there is a problem, namely the lack of knowledge of students at SDN 015 Pasir Keranji regarding the use of computers. Therefore, as a form of community service, KUKERTA Students of Riau University carried out socialization and training in the use of computers for students at SDN 015 Pasir Keranji, especially for students in grade 5. This training includes training in the use of word processing applications, namely Microsoft Word, as well as training in filling out online forms as well as simulations of the implementation of ANBK, namely using Google Form media. This training is expected to provide knowledge and skills to students of SDN 015 Pasir Keranji in using computers, especially as preparation for facing the ANBK program.

Abstract

This research aims to describe high school students' curiosity about the topic of global warming. The type of research used is quasi-experimental. The research sample consisted of 35 students from group X-2 as the experimental group and 36 students from group X-3 as the control group. The instrument used in this research was a student curiosity questionnaire with 25 statement items which were divided into several indicators, namely the desire to learn something, a strong attitude to know something, and interest in new things. The descriptive analysis pointed out that our results show the average value of curiosity in the experimental group (0.82) is in the very good category compared to the control group (0.74) in the good category. The difference is significant according to inferential analysis, obtaining a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The conclusion obtained is that the use of the SOLE model can increase students' curiosity better in learning physics on global warming material at SMA Negeri 1 Kandis.

Abstract

Salah satu contoh nyata abad ke-21 adalah penggabungan multimedia ke dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Cara terbaik untuk mengatasi kekurangan pembelajaran, terutama dalam pembelajaran pasca-pandemi, adalah dengan menggunakan TIK dalam pendidikan, seperti eksperimen virtual. Salah satu cara teknologi pendidikan dapat yang dapat digunakan untuk memodifikasi dan menampilkan eksperimen secara lengkap adalah melalui eksperimen virtual seperti VLM (Virtual Laboratory Model) merupakan salah satu pemanfaatan teknologi pendidikan yang dapat digunakan untuk memodifikasi serta menampilkan eksperimen secara lengkap. Salah satu contoh VLM yang marak digunakan adalah PhET. Tujuan pengabdian adalah optimalisasi pemanfaatan PHET dalam pembelajaran IPA Fisika bagi Guru-guru IPA SMP Rayon I Siak. Pelaksanaan kegiatan guru- guru SMP Rayon I Siak (Kecamatan Sungai Apit, Sabak Auh, dan Tualang) sebanyak 19 orang. Kegiatan dilaksanakan di SMPN 1 Sungai Apit Kabupaten Siak Provinsi Riau dari tanggal 23-24 September 2022. Pelaksanaan kegiatan teridisi dari 5 bagian yaitu metode pemodelan, pelatihan, simulasi, diskusi dan implementasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah terjadi peningkatan keterampilan dan memberikan hasil yang baik ditunjukan dengan hasil angket  dan luaran pengabdian yang tercapai. Hasil angket pelatihan virtual laboratorium PhET memudahkan guru untuk praktikum, efektif efisien dan bermanfaat dalam pembelajaran IPA Fisika.

Abstract

Efforts to developing the quality of education is empowering educators. Positive activities that accommodate teachers to improve the quality of education are the activities of the Community of Practice (CoP). Community of Practice (CoP) or KKG in Indonesia Context is a forum for professional development for primary school teachers, and one of which is improving teacher performance. The effectiveness of the CoP really needs to be studied in depth. Therefore, a study was conducted on the role of CoP in improving the performance of primary school teachers in Riau Province. The method is a quantitative descriptive study, which describes the role of CoP activities in improving teacher performance in Riau through quantitative data. The research was carried out in May-August 2020. The participant was elementary schools’ teachers in Riau Province. The data source is the primary school teachers totalling 60 people. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. Based on the results and discussion, it can be concluded that there are several roles of CoP activities in improving teacher performance, among others: through CoP teachers can discuss in construct learning tools, teachers were able to arrange lesson plans for active learning based on analysis of student needs, learning materials are arranged based on various learning sources, using media active learning, analysing evaluation test and conducting assessments according to active learning and student abilities.

Abstract

A microcontroller is an electronic device that can digitalize experimental tools, making them more practical and easier to use. The method used in this research is a Systematic Literature Review using PRISMA. The purpose of this study is to identify learning models, learning media, and the utilization of microcontrollers in teaching circular motion physics in schools. The collected data consists of national journal articles from accredited and indexed electronic databases, which are then extracted for content analysis. The data is subsequently analyzed and interpreted in tabular form. The findings of this study explain the learning models, learning media, and the application of microcontrollers in physics education.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the level of learning difficulties faced by students in physics at a private school in Pekanbaru. The research subjects consist of students from class IX MIPA of the science department. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach, where data is collected through questionnaires distributed to the students. The research results show that the learning difficulties experienced by the students are influenced by internal factors, such as students' intelligence and motivation. These factors lead students to perceive physics learning as difficult, and they struggle to understand the material presented by the teacher and apply it to problems. Therefore, strategies are needed to improve students' understanding of physics learning at MA AL Kautsar Pekanbaru.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of an experimental apparatus designed to measure the permeability of metal materials as an instructional medium for enhancing the learning motivation of 12th-grade science students on the topic of magnetic fields. The research was conducted at SMAIT Al Fityah Pekanbaru and MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru, involving 20 students from each institution. The apparatus was specifically developed to facilitate hands-on exploration of magnetic permeability in various metals. Employing a pre-experimental method, the study adopted a Pretest-Posttest Group Design to assess changes in student motivation. Data were collected using a validated ARCS learning motivation questionnaire, which evaluates four components: Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction. Motivation scores were recorded before and after the intervention, and the results were analyzed descriptively using normalized gain (N-Gain) and its corresponding percentage. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ motivation following the use of the experimental tool. The N-Gain percentage reached 86%, surpassing the established threshold for effectiveness (>75%). These results indicate that the tool is not only functional but also pedagogically effective in fostering increased motivation in learning physics, particularly in understanding abstract concepts such as magnetic permeability.Keywords : effectiveness, experimental tools, metallic materials motivation, testing permeability

Abstract

The transformation of kinematics learning requires innovative approaches to enhance students' in-depth conceptual understanding. This study aims to analyze the need to develop a microcontroller-based experimental tool for linear motion kinematics to overcome students' difficulties in understanding kinematics concepts. The study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observations involving teachers and students from several high schools in Pekanbaru City. Data were obtained from 5 physics teachers and 30 high school students in grade XII who had previously studied linear motion kinematics. The findings indicate that students' understanding of linear motion kinematics concepts remains low, highlighting the need for a microcontroller-based experimental tool to support more interactive, accurate, and data-driven learning. This tool is expected to provide real-time visualization of kinematics parameters such as velocity, acceleration, time, and distance, facilitating students' comprehension of the relationships among these variables. This study recommends the development of a microcontroller-based experimental tool for linear motion kinematics as a strategic step to support the transformation of physics learning aligned with the demands of education in the digital era.

Abstract

Penelitian pengembangan Kotak Instrumen Terpadu (KIT) berbasis Etnofisika dengan alat tradisional Riau untuk mengintegrasikan fisika dan kearifan budaya Melayu. Fokusnya adalah meningkatkan pendidikan fisika yang kontekstual dan bermakna. Tujuannya adalah untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dan pemahaman mereka terhadap fisika serta warisan budaya melalui pendekatan kontekstual dan praktis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research and Development (R&D) dengan model Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation, (ADDIE), yang berfokus pada pengembangan KIT pembelajaran berbasis etnofisika untuk pelajaran IPA SMP pada materi Usaha, Energi, dan Pesawat Sederhana. Penelitian akan dilakukan di Laboratorium Pendidikan Fisika FKIP Universitas Riau dan SMPN 23 Pekanbaru selama tahun ajaran 2024/2025. KIT akan melalui proses validasi oleh validator ahli serta uji kepraktisan bersama tiga guru IPA dan 35 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik KIT IPA berbasis Etnofisika maupun LKPD (Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik) dinyatakan dengan teknik pengumpulan data validitas menggunakan dua alat, yaitu LKPD dan alat penilaian lainnya, sementara praktikalitas diukur dengan LKPD dan alat evaluasi praktikalitas.dengan skor di atas 3 untuk semua kriteria, dalam rentang 2,88 ≤ skor ≤ 4,00. Namun, disarankan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep dasar saat menggunakan KIT guna lebih mendukung proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bermanfaat meningkatkan pemahaman fisika secara kontekstual dan melestarikan budaya Melayu Riau. KIT etnofisika valid dan praktis, mendukung pembelajaran bermakna bagi siswa.
