Abstract

Citizenship education aims to cultivate intelligent and responsible citizens. One essential characteristic of a responsible citizen is their active engagement in civic duties, as demonstrated through their attitudes and behavior. This study examines the level of civic engagement among high school students in preserving local culture during the era of disruption. The research adopts a quantitative descriptive approach and collects data from high school students in Cianjur Regency, Indonesia, using a survey questionnaire. The findings reveal that: (1) the level of civic attitude among students in cultural preservation is sufficient, with a score of 55.12%; and (2) the level of civic behavior, specifically real action taken to preserve local culture, is very low, with a score of 9.22%. This suggests that student involvement in cultural preservation needs to be further developed to safeguard local culture. Therefore, future researchers are advised to devise a Citizenship education learning model that can foster civic engagement among high school students in preserving local culture.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the Jatiwangi Art Factory community in fostering citizens' ecological awareness through an approach rooted in local art and culture. Employing a qualitative approach and case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that the Jatiwangi Art Factory has successfully encouraged citizen participation in various environmental programs, notably through the Perhutana initiative a community driven project that establishes an 8-hectare collective forest, collaboratively managed by local residents. The Perhutana program implements a land parceling system in which residents purchase plots, each of which is designated for tree planting. This approach is designed to stimulate citizens’ active involvement in responding to ecological issues in both critical and creative ways. These community-based activities reflect a contextualized model of civic education grounded in real-life practices. The study recommends strengthening the role of local communities in civic education, particularly through artistic, cultural, and indigenous knowledge-based approaches that bridge ecological awareness with civic identity.

Abstract

Tujuan pelatihan adalah meningkatkan kemampuan guru secara teoritis dan praktis dalam menerapkan model pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis living values activity. Pelatihan menggunakan pendekatan participant-centered dengan integrasi seminar-workshop-pendampingan. Pelatihan dilaksanakan di SMPN 2 Kabupaten Sumedang bekerjasama dengan MGMP PPKn SMP Kabupaten Sumedang dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 109 orang guru PPKn SMP. Hasil pelatihan: 1) desain pelatihan mengintegrasikan seminar dan workshop dengan pendampingan. Kegiatan seminar dan workshop menggunakan model games, role play, case study, simulasi, maupun focused group discussion. Kegiatan pendampingan menggunakan model lesson study; 2) setelah pelatihan guru menunjukkan beberapa kemampuan sebagai berikut: pemahaman teoritis terhadap model, kemampuan mengembangkan RPP model, dan kemampuan menerapkan model pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis living values activity dalam PKn SMP. Kesimpulan: pelatihan praktis melalui pengintegrasian kegiatan seminar, workshop dan pendampingan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan teoritis dan praktis guru PKn SMP dalam menerapkan model pembelajaran kontekstual berbasis living values activity.
