Abstract — The phenomenon that underlies the condition of Batak students who grew up in the city of Medan, which no longer uses the language batak, even with their own families, and a lack of understanding for the value of the main culture Bataknese, namely Hamoraon, Hagabeon and Hasangapon and understanding Dalihan na tolu as a concept family relationship in the Batak, raised a main concern of this study. This was a non-experimental and comparison study that aimed to find differences of cultural identity, which consists various aspects, including: perception, importance, esteem, maintenance and behavioral expression, on Batak Toba students who enrolled at the University of North Sumatra, in terms of where the subjects were raised. Results of the data analysis showed the existence of significant difference of the cultural identity in student's Batak Toba, who enrolled at the University of North Sumatra, in terms of where the subject was raised – between the ones who were born and raised in Batak Toba and within the city of Medan. The results shows that cultural identity of students who were born and raised in Batak Toba tends to be stronger than the one possessed by students who were born and raised from the city of Medan. It expressed the need to keep transmitting these values to the younger generation, so that these values remain intact. Abstrak — Penelitian ini diawali dengan semakin banyaknya ditemukan mahasiswa Batak yang dibesarkan di Kota Medan, yang tidak lagi menggunakan bahasa Batak, bahkandengan keluarga mereka sendiri,dan kurangnya pemahaman akan nilai budaya utama Orang Batak, yakni Hamoraon, Hagabeon dan Hasangapon serta pemahaman akan Dalihan na Tolu sebagai konsep hubungan kekeluargaan pada orang Batak. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian komparasi non eksperimental yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan identitas budaya yang terdiri dari aspek perception, importance, esteem, maintenance dan behavioral expression pada mahasiswa Batak Toba yang berkuliah di Universitas Sumatera Utara, ditinjau dari tempat subjek dibesarkan. Hasil analisa data menunjukkan adanya perbedaan identitas budaya pada mahasiswa Batak Toba yang berkuliah di Universitas Sumatera Utara, ditinjau dari tempat subjek dibesarkan, dalam hal ini antara yang lahir dan besar di Tanah Batak Toba dan yang lahir dan besar di Kota Medan.Identitas budaya mahasiswa yang lahir dan besar di Tanah Batak Toba lebih kuat dibandingkan yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa yang lahir dan besar di Kota Medan.Diutarakan adanya kebutuhan untuk tetap mentransmisikan nilai-nilai budaya terhadap generasi muda, agar nilai-nilai ini tetap terjaga.

This qualitative study is particularly focused on the North Sumatera context; it investigates the dynamics of ethnic and national identities of Bataknese youths in the defining themselves as an Indonesian. Thirty-one individuals (six local figures and 25 Bataknese youths) participated in the study. The results illustrated the strengthening process of ethnic identity through exploring family and environmental common practices. The strengthening of ethnic identity was also found to occur in concurrent with the strengthening of national identity, as manifested in the participants’ willingness to maintain harmony in their society. The study concludes that the strengthening of ethnic identity positively shapes one’s national identity. Student participants and local figures expressed concern about the sustainability of cultural cultivation which is necessary to shape ethnic identity among young Bataknese. The study recommends a Batak kinship model known as dalihan na tolu, in which many families with different tasks and roles, flexibly manage differences to strengthen national identity based on the philosophy of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran dukungan-sosial yang diberikan istri terhadap konsep-diri suami yang kehilangan pekerjaannya. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa dukungan-sosial yang diberikan istri berhubungan positif terhadap konsep-diri suami yang kehilangan pekerjaannya. Penelitian korelasional ini mengindikasikan pentingnya dukungan-sosial yang diberikan istri dalam melindungi suami terhadap bahaya konsep-diri negatif yang diakibatkan oleh kehilangan pekerjaan.

The present study conceptualizes “Unity in Diversity” as a condition in which individuals’ ethnic and national identities are congruent. This condition is achievable by internalizing universal-diverse orientation. The authors provide support for this idea through a cross-sectional survey (N = 400), and observed a positive relationship between individuals’ ethnic and national identities among individuals with high universal-diverse orientation. Such a relationship was absent among individuals with low universal-diverse orientation. Based on the results, the authors recommend socializing universal-diverse orientation to promote a sense of “Unity in Diversity” among individuals within a multicultural society, such as that of Indonesia. Studi ini mengonseptualisasi “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” sebagai kondisi ketika terdapat keselarasan identitas suku bangsa dan nasional seorang individu. Kondisi ini bisa dicapai melalui internalisasi universal-diverse orientation. Penulis menyediakan data yang mendukung konsep ini melalui survei cross-sectional (N = 400), dan menemukan hubungan positif antara identitas suku bangsa dan identitas nasional pada individu dengan universal-diverse orientation tinggi. Hubungan ini tidak ditemukan pada individu dengan universal-diverse orientation rendah. Berdasarkan temuan ini, penulis merekomendasikan upaya sosialisasi universal-diverse orientation untuk menguatkan rasa “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” pada individu dalam masyarakat multikultur layaknya Indonesia.

This community service aims to develop the academic atmosphere of women entrepreneurs to have entrepreneurial competencies in overcoming challenges and developing their enterprises to become upgraded SMEs. This service was conducted in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency with a total of 31 women’s small enterprises. This activity was carried out using qualitative descriptive methods from 5 tools, namely documents, focus group discussions (FGDs), interviews, observations, and workshops. The results of FGDs showed that women entrepreneurs needed to collaborate with universities to make affordable and quality products. The results of interviews and observations showed that they ran the enterprises because they wanted to get more income, dared to take calculated risks, had the competence, were able to take advantage of opportunities, and were able to face changes in society. These women entrepreneurs were also given training in the form of workshops to develop the academic atmosphere and increase competence in managing entrepreneurship by creating entrepreneurial journeys, namely the understanding of being successful entrepreneurs. Therefore, they can contribute to large companies.

Pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia tidak dapat dipisahkan dari berkembangnya berbagai sektor industri di Indonesia. Sektor pertanian merupakan bagian integral dari pembangunan nasional. Sektor pertanian di Indonesia memegang peranan penting, lebih dari 40% angkatan kerja atau tercatat 35,7 juta orang atau 28,79 % dari jumlah penduduk bekerja sebanyak 124,01 juta jiwa. Akibatnya, terjadi peningkatan resiko kecelakaan akibat kerja dikarenakan penggunaan mesin-mesin dalam usaha pertanian dan penggunaan pestisida. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan untuk melakukan sosialisasi tentang penerapan kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja (K3) pada kelompok tani pada masyarakat petani di Food Estate Desa Ria-Ria Humbang Hasundutan. Metode kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan dengan agenda Survey Mawas Diri (SMD) dan Sosialisasi Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja (K3) kepada masyarakat petani. Secara umum, kesimpulan dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang telah dilaksanakan adalah sosialisai penerapan kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja di Food Estate Desa Ria-Ria Humbang Hasundutan berjalan dengan baik, masyarakat petani mengikuti kegiatan dengan baik, dan bertambahnya pengetahuan masyarakat petani dalam penerapan kesehatan dan keselamatan kerja seperti memakai APD secara benar serta menjaga personal hygiene saat bekerja.

Banjir merupakan bencana alam yang paling sering terjadi di Indonesia. Banjir di Desa Muara Saladi merupakan banjir yang berasal dari genangan air yang mengakibatkan runtuhnya tebing, ditambah lagi aliran banjir yang cukup tinggi membuat bocornya tanggul air dan mengakibatkan terjadinya banjir bandang di Desa Muara Saladi dengan kerugian lebih dari 2 milyar rupiah, korban jiwa sebanyak 12 orang, 13 rumah warga yang hanyut akibat banjir bandang, 7 unit rumah rusak berat, dan 6 unit rumah rusak ringan, ditambah dengan fasilitas umum banyak yang rusak berat. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah agar masyarakat di Desa Muara Saladi mampu mencegah bencana dan melakukan mitigasi banjir secara mandiri. Metode kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu melakukan survei awal, sosialisasi kegiatan, pelaksanan pelatihan dan pendampingan masyarakat. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah terbentuk relawan kebencanaan banjir dari masyarakat di Desa Muara Saladi. Setelah mendapatkan edukasi, para relawan di Desa Muara Saladi dapat secara aktif melakukan proses edukasi kepada masyarakat desa mengenai pencegahan terjadinya bencana banjir dengan tetap mematuhi aturan-aturan yang sudah ditetapkan bersama. Pembentukan relawan kebencanaan banjir di Desa Muara Saladi dapat dijadikan sebagai upaya mendidik masyarakat agar paham tentang pencegahan bencana banjir. Upaya pendampingan dan pemberdayaan terus dilakukan hingga semua masyarakat paham tentang pencegahan bencana banjir di Desa Muara Saladi.

This becomes increasingly important when this number increases every year with the development of information technology and aviation systems that are easier and cheaper. Only Covid has succeeded in reducing the number of medical tourists from North Sumatra to Penang. Since the beginning of 2022, North Sumatra has declared to be one of the world's medical tourism destinations. This is important not only to bring in foreign tourists, but at the same time to hide out the outflow of the North Sumatra community itself. There are seven hospitals that are launched will become medical tourism destinations in North Sumatra, one of which is a hospital that is studied for providing heart services which is the most sought, after service by the people of North Sumatra. Based on this phenomenon it is felt to be very important to conduct competition analysis of integrated heart service products organized by this hospital, so that the product you want to launch receives an appropriate welcome. The method used in this study is to use a descriptive strategy method related to supply side, demand side, and product competition obtained with structured questionnaires. The results of the study show that the service, the administrative process of type A hospitals in Medan is quite good but still must be evaluated and improved, while cleanliness and health protocols and facilities at type A hospitals in Medan are still below the "pretty good" range that interpret it is still very need to be improved. With later efforts to increase, it is hoped that this type A hospital in Medan will be able to compensate for some of its competitors.

The target of activities in the short and long term program partners must be able to develop their product market using the taxmedan.com platform. The expected short-term target is an increase in knowledge to traders that their buying and selling activities can be developed online. The Covid-19 disaster has impacted the learning process, not only for normal children but also for children with special needs. They have the same right to get a quality education. This community service is addressed as an outdoor learning model and applies health protocol at LPK Kaizen Wireless Center (KNC). KNC is an institution that provides education and training services to children with special needs. The method used is consultation, and support for learning facilities following health protocols. This service is located at the location of KNC. The results of the service made KNC as an outdoor model learning and implementing health protocols were felt to be useful (perceived usefulness) such as being safe, comfortable, and providing optimal therapeutic stimulation during a pandemic; and felt easier to use (perceived ease-of-use), such as being effective and efficient in carrying out activities that do not have to be in outside areas. In the future, this service program can continue to empower the resources of teachers and therapists as well as parents, especially mothers of children with special needs to be able to support the growth and development of their children to become independent people in the future.
