With the holding of training on the use of used goods into a planting container for vegetable crops in the two schools (SD Model Al Azhar Medan and SD Namira), it is expected to foster creative and innovative work in science and technology capable of producing a system, design, model of goods in the form of pouring ideas or creative ideas which is original, visionary and implementative to find solutions to problems that are relevant to the environmental problems associated with agriculture. This training was carried out for 5 months (July-November 2019) through several stages, starting from problem identification, location initiation, training in the provision of used goods and vegetable cultivation. Then do the practice and guidance in the field, followed by information dissemination and publicity in mass media, making you tubes from the creation of used goods from these elementary school students. Through this training, there was an increase in the knowledge and understanding of students about the processing of used goods from bottles, wood, cans, plastics, shoes, pants, oil packaging that were converted into planting containers. Then the creations are placed as a corner of the school garden. Synergy of the University of Sumatera Utara in developing superior knowledge that is beneficial has the full support of the community, especially students of SD Model Al Azhar Medan and SD Namira Medan.

The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred shows the increasingly important role of families in caring and educating children. Amount of children spend time at home because studying online, it means that they spend a lot of time outside with friends. This allows children to consume addictive substances. From the initial survey conducted in village of Bandar Labuhan district of Tanjung Morawa regency of Deli Serdang, it was found that children secretly consume addictive substances which are harmful to their own health, such as smoking. The method of implementing community service activities is carried out in three stages, including the stages of preparation, implementation and guidance. Addictive substances are substances that cause addiction or dependence and are harmful. From the results of the dedication, it was found that most of the abuse of addictive substances in children in village of Bandar Labuhan district of Tanjung Morawa was cigarettes, glue and gasoline. Most of the factors that influence addictive substance abuse in children are curiosity. Empowerment of families in protecting children from addictive substance abuse is very necessary for children avoid addictive substances. This is in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and North Sumatra Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2019 concerning Facilitation for the Prevention of Abuse of Narcotics, Psychotropics and Other Addictive Substances.

The implementation of community service activities carried out by the KKN R-16 group was carried out on July 14, 2021 in Mabar Village, Medan Deli by planting three varieties of trees, namely guava (Syzygium aqueum), mango (Mangifera indica) and rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum). 36 plants along the green line of Mabar Village. The method of implementing KKN is carried out offline or offline, namely socialization, training and tree planting and distributing questionnaires to 30 respondents. Data from the calculated questionnaire showed that 24 respondents strongly agreed to plant trees in Mabar Village. In the implementation of the activities carried out, the people of Mabar Village enthusiastically welcomed and supported the KKN activities of planting trees as the lungs of the city. It is hoped that this plant in the future can become a source of oxygen and reduce flooding in the rainy season.

The Turi farmer group is located in Sidomulyo Village, Tuntungan, Medan. One of the businesses run by this group is the cultivation of oyster mushrooms. However, this poktan has not been able to produce oyster mushroom baglog independently. Thus, greater capital is needed to buy baglog from the manufacturer. Basically, the process of making oyster mushroom baglog is quite simple and can be conducted manually, but the common problems encountered are the long baglog production time, non-uniform quality and high number of workers. In addition, the production of oyster mushroom baglog can be used as another business by partner groups in an effort to increase the income of group members and cut production costs for oyster mushrooms in partner groups. The purpose of this activity was to improve the insight and skills of the community in the Turi Poktan to be able to produce the oyster mushroom baglog by utilizing a simple technology in the form of a baglog presser to cut the production costs and open up new business opportunities in order to improve the welfare of the community in partner Poktans. The expected results from this community service activity were products in the form of oyster mushroom baglog and the formation of a new business by the turi group as a producer of oyster mushroom baglog so as to increase the welfare of the community in partner groups.

Petani di Kecamatan Hiliran Gumanti masih sering menggunakan pestisida dan bahan anorganik lainnya. Pengetahuan petani dalam pertanian ramah lingkungan masih terbilang rendah karena belum mampu mengoptimalkan potensi yang ada, memanfaatkan jerami padi sebagai bahan dasar pembuatan pupuk kompos. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis peran penyuluh dan menganalisis faktor-faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi peran penyuluh dalam penerapan pertanian ramah lingkungan pada bulan Maret-Juli 2021 di Kecamatan Hiliran Gumanti, Kabupaten Solok, Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Selanjutnya metode deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dilakukan dari instrumen kuesioner dibagikan kepada 624 petani, 33 poktan dan 6 kelurahan. Kemudian dilakukan uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas data yang dikumpulkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan hasil uji validitas terhadap kuesioner dinyatakan 30 item pernyataan kuesioner valid, 5 tidak valid tersebar pada beberapa variabel. Sedangkan data uji reliabilitas menunjukkan semua variabel tersebut dapat dikatakan reliabel dan dapat teruji kekonsistenannya. Hal ini karena nilai Cronbachs Alpha dari keseluruhan rdata >rtabel. Perlu dilakukannya pendampingan terhadap petani agar inovasi budidaya padi sawah secara organik dapat diterapkan dengan baik, di samping peran penyuluh diharapkan rutin mengadakan pertemuan dan diskusi dengan petani sehingga tingkat pengetahuan petani bertambah.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat minat petani dalam memanfaatkan koagulan lateks dari umbi gadung pada tanaman karet (Hevea brasiliensis) dan mengetahui hubungan faktor internal dan faktor eksternal. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Maret hingga Juni 2023 dan melibatkan 60 responden dari Desa Aloban, Gunung Manaon, dan Simandi Angin di Kecamatan Potipi, Kabupaten Padang Laowa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan skala likert dan korelasi rank spearman serta diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa petani sangat berminat memanfaatkan umbi katong sebagai koagulan lateks dengan proporsi sebesar 79,13%. Uji korelasi rank spearman menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang berhubungan nyata dengan minat petani adalah pengalaman (X3), pendapatan (X4), luas lahan (X5), peran penyuluh (X6) dan lingkungan masyarakat (X7). Sementara itu, tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara faktor umur (X1) dengan pendidikan (X2).

Abstrak Kelompok masyarakat Daerah Aliran Sungai Deli (DAS) di kawasan Jl.Palang Merah Medan, Sumatera Utara merupakan mitra kegiatan Mahasiswa Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Program Modul Nusantara Kelompok 4 Universitas Sumatera Utara dan Education Foundation. Kegiatan Kontribusi Sosial (KS) dilaksanakan pada tanggal 2 Juni 2024 bertujuan mensosialisasikan dan mengedukasi masyarakat sekitar DAS Deli agar tanggap dan dapat melakukan mitigasi bencana banjir. Mahasiswa PMN KS 4 USU menyerahkan bantuan perlatan mitigasi bencana banjir, yaitu 2 pasang jaket pelampung, tali, peluit, dan kit P3K. Selanjutnya proses pelatihan mitigasi bencana banjir dilakukan pada 20 orang, terdiri dari 14 orang anak-anak, berusia 10-16 tahun, dan 6 orang dewasa. Pelaksanaan KS dilakukan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif melalui observasi, kuisoner, wawancara, pelatihan fisik, dan evaluasi. Hasil dari sosialisasi ini memperlihatkan kesadaran anak-anak dan masyarakat DAS Deli tentang pentingnya pengetahuan, aksi nyata, dan tanggap saat penyelamatan diri dari banjir mendapat respon yang baik dan mendukung kerjasama saat pelatihan berlangsung di Sungai Deli. Kata kunci: banjir; edukasi; masyarakat; DAS Deli; Sumatera Utara. Abstract The Deli River Basin (DAS) community group in the Jl. Palang Merah Medan area, North Sumatra is a partner in the Independent Campus Learning (MBKM) Student Activity of the Nusantara Module Program Group 4 of the University of North Sumatra and the Education Foundation. The Social Contribution (KS) activity was carried out on June 2, 2024 with the aim of socializing and educating the community around the Deli DAS to be responsive and able to mitigate flood disasters. PMN KS 4 USU students handed over assistance in the form of flood disaster mitigation equipment, namely 2 pairs of life jackets, ropes, whistles, and first aid kits. Furthermore, the flood disaster mitigation training process was carried out on 20 people, consisting of 14 children, aged 10-16 years, and 6 adults. The implementation of KS is carried out using descriptive qualitative methods through observation, questionnaires, interviews, physical training, and evaluation. The results of this socialization show the awareness of children and the Deli River Basin community about the importance of knowledge, real action and responsiveness when saving themselves from floods received a good response and supported cooperation during the training on the Deli River. AbstrakMembentuk karakter mahasiswa adalah perjalanan yang berkelanjutan dan membutuhkan kesadaran diri serta komitmen yang kuat. proses ini melibatkan pengembangan nilai-nilai, keterampilan, dan sikap yang diperlukan untuk mencapai kesuksesan di dunia akademik dan masa depan profesional.Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah membantu individu mahasiswa yang berkarakter menjadi pribadi yang berintegritas, bertanggung jawab, jujur, memiliki empati, disiplin, dan memiliki sikap positif terhadap diri sendiri dan orang lain. Disamping membangun bangsa yang tangguh, dimana masyarakatnya berakhlak mulia, bermoral, bertoleransi, dan bergotong-royong. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk Sosialisasi informasi pendidikan karakter, Seminar Nasional Pendidikan Karakter Bagi Gen Zenial dan Milenial di Tabagsel pada hari Kamis, 8 Februari 2024 di Aula UMTS Padang Sidempuan, tapanuli Selatan. Selanjutnya diinisiasi untuk membentuk pola dengan prinsip 18 nilai yang bisa dikembangkan di sekolah dan perguruan tinggi bagi generasi muda, terdiri dari: Religius, Jujur, Toleransi, Displin, Kerja Keras, Kreatif, Mandiri, Demokratis, Rasa Ingin Tahu, Semangat Kebangsaan, Cinta Tanah Air, Menghargai Prestasi, Bersahabat/ Komunikatif, Cinta Damai, Gemar Membaca, Peduli Lingkungan, Peduli Sosial, Tanggungjawab dengan memperhatikan 5 aspek, yaitu: praktik-praktik interpersonal mahasiswa, karakter dan model sinergis dosen dan mahasiswa, mahasiswa memiliki otonomi pengelolaan aspirasi yang komunikatif, mahasiswa melakukan refleksi, berdebat atau berkolaborasi mencari pemecahan isu moral, Sharing visi dan sence of collectivity dan responsibility serta Social skiil training dengan bertumpu pada kearifan lokal Tabagsel, diantaranya marsialapari (gotong royong) dan aplikasi Poda Na Lima dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. This process involves developing the values, skills, and attitudes necessary to achieve success in the academic world and professional future. The purpose of this service is to help individual students with character become individuals with integrity, responsibility, honesty, empathy, discipline, and positive attitudes towards themselves and others. Besides building a strong nation, where the people are noble, moral, tolerant, and work together. This service was carried out in the form of Socialization of character education information, National Seminar on Character Education for Gen Zenial and Millennials in Tabagsel on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at UMTS Padang Sidempuan Hall, South Tapanuli. Furthermore, it was initiated to form a pattern with the principle of 18 values that can be developed in schools and universities for the younger generation, consisting of: Religious, Honest, Tolerance, Discipline, Hard Work, Creative, Independent, Democratic, Curiosity, National Spirit, Love for the Country, Respect for Achievement, Friendly / Communicative, Love Peace, Love Reading, Care for the Environment, Social Care, Responsibility by paying attention to 5 aspects, namely: students' interpersonal practices, characters and synergistic models of lecturers and students, students have autonomy in managing communicative aspirations, students are able to manage their own aspirations, and students are able to communicate with their peers, students reflect, debate or collaborate to find solutions to moral issues, share their vision and sense of collectivity and responsibility as well as social skills training based on the local wisdom of Tabagsel, including marsialapari (mutual cooperation) and the application of Poda Na Lima in everyday life. S. frugiperda merupakan salah satu hama penting pada pertanaman jagung. Upaya pengendalian hama S. frugiperda dilakukan melalui mengahdirkan musuh alami menggunakan parasitoid telur. Penelitian yang dilakukan sejak April sampai Juni 2023 di lahan Desa Sumber Melati Diski, Kecamatan Sunggal, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, dilanjutkan identifikasi serangga di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi, Rumah Sakit Djoelham, Binjai dan di Laboratoium Penyakit Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Faktorial dengan 2 faktor. Faktor 1 yaitu pola tanam (monokultur dan tumpangsari) faktor 2 yaitu varietas (BISI 2, PARAGON, Pioneer P35) dengan 4 ulangan. Hasil yang diperoleh di lapangan teridentifikasi 1 genus parasitoid telur S. frugiperda yaitu Telenomus. Parasitasi tertinggi (26,18%) pada perlakuan pola tanam tumpangsari jagung varietas Bisi-2 (P1V0) dan parasitasi terendah (4,04%) pada perlakuan pola tanam monokultur jagung varietas Paragon (P0V1).

Community service activities of the Non PNBP Assisted Village Program in Increasing Farmers' Income through Integrated Agriculture in Muara Saladi Village, Ulu Pungkut District, Madina Regency, North of Sumatra. Implemented from May 2020 to October 2020. The approach method used was through potential / problem surveys, socialization, focus group discussions (FDG), training, mentoring activities and evaluation monitoring. Socialization and training were carried out, including Introduction to Soil Types and Land Suitability for Tomato Planting, Knowledge of Cultivation and Integrated Pest Management for Tomato and Vegetable Plants as well as planting of maga oranges and sweet fragrant manga as protective crops on coffee plants. The use of yellow glue traps (YST), Sweep nets and the manufacture of environmentally friendly vegetable pesticides from garlic, papaya and sour sop leaves, through training sessions and practice in tomato plantations is an effective way to manage integrated pest friendly environment. The use of vegetable pesticides in horticultural crops to control pests and diseases. Integrated pests and diseases increase the productivity of vegetables in an appropriate manner so that it supports increased income and welfare of horticultural farmers in Madina.
