Abstract

Forest conversion activities into non forestry purposes impacts on decreasing of forestfunction as a main role sustainable development, especially as water regulators and as carbon storage. Therefore, deforestation not only causes a direct loss of forest habitat but also leads to indirect impacts as ecosystem services deteriorate or fail. Forests provide ecosystem services that include the regulation of weather and climate at local, regional and even global levels. Existence of protected forest Pinang Luar ± 3.228 acres take an important part and people living in the area has a high dependency on the forest. Farming activities become a treat to the forest and their indications show that cropland and palm estate already in the forest area. Land cover changes in protected forest Pinang luar at 2003 – 2012 impacts on villages at ring 1 area hierarchy decrease cause by population growth are not followed by the additional of infrastructures in economy, health and education. It is also caused by landconversion that occurred in the protected forest Pinang Luar. In the period 2003 - 2012, the villages directly affected (ring 1) have a level area hierarchy is much worse compared to villages that are not directly affected (Ring 2). And it affected to the development of the villages in the ring 2 which is better than the village at ring 1. These conditions happen because at the village in ring 1 change only on land not on the impact on the level of development that could affect the region hierarchy. This is in contrast with the ring 2 villages where the changes occur not only on land but also on its impact on the development so as to enhance the region hierarchy in ring 2 villages.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, which began to occur in 2020, resulted in a decline in sales of various MSMEs, one of which was the Mawar Merah UMKM, which produced processed pineapple lunkhead products. The reason is the limited meeting of MSME owners during the pandemic and the lack of promotion on social media. Therefore, this study aims to determine priorities and alternative methods of promotion through social media, as well as develop appropriate promotional strategies to increase sales. This study used a descriptive quantitative survey method with the help of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) software from Expert Choice 11 software. A total of 21 research respondents conducted purposive sampling by deliberately distributing the electronic questionnaire link via Google Forms. The results of this study indicate that the priority criteria for promotion of dodol pineapple sijangku is context criteria, the main priority in the sub-criteria is providing informative information accompanied by pictures, while the main priority for alternative promotion is context strategy. Abstract

Research was conducted to examine the contribution of male and female workers in horticultural farming on peatlands in Limbung and Madu Sari Villages, Sungai Raya District, Kubu Raya Regency. The aim of this research is to find out the characteristics of horticultural farmers on peatlands, find out the amount of labor men and women use in horticultural farming on peatlands and how big the difference is in the amount of labor between the two, and find out the distribution of men's and women's decision making in horticultural farming on peatlands . Regarding the use of plant varieties, types of fertilizer, specific uses, and marketing of agricultural products. Are men or women dominant in decision making activities? Determining the sample size uses a saturated sampling technique, that is, the total number of samples is taken. The sample in this study was the total number of farmers taken from two villages, namely Madu Sari and Limbung villages, namely 40 respondents. The data analysis method used is descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The research results show that the average time spent by male workers is 50.31 HOK/planting season or a proportion of 74.62%, while the average time spent by female workers is 17.11 HOK/season or around 25.38%. This shows that there is still a lack of female labor in horticultural farming. Women's involvement appears to be dominant only in post-harvest activities. Apart from that, based on the distribution of men's and women's decision making in determining plant varieties, use of fertilizer types, specific uses, and marketing of horticultural farming products, it appears that women's involvement is still very limited. Is privation in decision making still very dominant? This shows that there is a gender gap in decision making for productive activities.

Abstract

This research specifically analyzed the market integration and transmission of Indonesian palm oil prices in the world vegetable oil market. The analysis using the Threshold Vector Error Correction Model approach was based on time series on the palm oil, soybean oil, rapeseed oil and sunflower oil prices for the period of January 2004 to June 2017. The findings proved the existence of market integration and transmission of asymmetric prices marked by price increases transmitted more quickly among the vegetable oil markets in the long run. The main findings of this research indicated that there was an intense competition between the vegetable oil market and the price of Indonesian palm oil which still followed the rising price of Malaysian palm oil, soybean oil, and rapeseed oil prices, but it was still the leader in the movement of sunflower oil prices. However, the long-term period of soybean oil prices followed a decline in the price of Indonesian palm oil. The results of this research imply that Indonesian palm oil has the opportunity to strengthen its position in the world vegetable oil market by developing futures exchanges that are supported by the adequate physical trading market infrastructure so that it can become the center of formation and reference for world palm oil prices.

Abstract

Rejuvenation (replanting) of oil palm is the process of replanting plants that are similar to the previous plant. This planting was carried out on the grounds that the old plants were too tall and therefore difficult to harvest, the plants were old, and the plant productivity was low. This research aims to analyze farmers' sources of income during the oil palm replanting period. The data sources used in this research are primary and secondary data. The data analysis method used is quantitative descriptive analysis. Quantitative descriptive analysis was used to determine the amount of household income of farmers who were carrying out replanting in Anik Dingir Village, Menyuke District, Landak Regency. The work most farmers do during rejuvenation of on-farm sectors is oil palm farming apart from replanting, from the non-farm sector as traders, while those from the off-farm sector work as rice workers. The most profitable income for farmers is in the on-farm sector with an average amount of IDR 7,835,000/month. The total income of those who work as farmers is IDR 100,924,000/month with an average amount of IDR 6,728,000/month. Meanwhile, the total income of non-farmers is greater, reaching IDR 245,953,000 with an average of IDR 15,372,000/month. According to the results of the data in this research, the sector that plays a major role in household income is the on-farm sector. Farming businesses that play a big role in the on-farm sector are oil palm farming apart from replanting, in the non-farm sector traders, while in the off-farm sector are workers in harvesting or palm fertilizer. The level of farmer welfare is in the high category, namely 68%, amounting to 21 people, in the medium category, namely 32%, amounting to 10 people. So it can be said that people who take part in oil palm rejuvenation (replanting) in Anik Dingir Village, Menyuke District, Landak Regency are people who have a high level of welfare or are categorized as very capable, although there are some who are in the medium category. In this way, the oil palm rejuvenation or replanting process will not reduce farmers' welfare because all costs of the replanting process are borne by the government.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of marketing channels and evaluate the profitability of local small-scale snakefruit farmers. The research was conducted in Kecamatan Teluk Keramat, Kabupaten Sambas. Purposive sampling was used to collect data and determine the samples. Data analysis employed marketing margin, farmer's share, profitability index, and marketing channel efficiency analysis. The results of the study indicate that marketing channel pattern III, involving large merchant collectors with a margin of Rp. 9,515/kg, had the highest margin among the three marketing patterns, while the lowest margin was observed in marketing channel pattern I, involving retailers with a margin of Rp. 0/kg and a farmer's share of 100%. On the other hand, marketing channel pattern II had the highest farmer's share at 33.33%, and marketing channel pattern III had a farmer's share of 42.38%. Based on the criteria, where FS>MP, it means that marketing channel pattern I is the most efficient among the three channels. The profitability index for marketing channel pattern I was 99, for pattern II it was 7.06, and for pattern III it was 4.85. This indicates that all marketing channels had values greater than 1, which is classified as profitable. The highest profitability index was observed in marketing channel I with a value of 99. This means that if the marketing expenses incurred were Rp. 100, the total marketing profit would reach Rp. 9,900. Therefore, the most efficient marketing channel is channel pattern I, due to its lower total marketing costs, which amount to IDR 100/kg compared to other marketing channels. Keywords: farmer's share; marketing margins; Salak marketing channel INTISARIPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas saluran pemasaran dan mengevaluasi profitabilitas petani buah salak skala kecil lokal. Abstract

The poor regeneration of farmers is a significant strain on the Indonesian agricultural sector. The negative stereotypical view of the farming profession is the cause of the reluctance of the younger generation to get involved and persist in agriculture. However, there is a strong potential for environmental support and land access as well as access to off-farm work to be factors that can encourage young farmers to remain in agriculture. The purpose of this study is to analyze the determinants of the willingness of young farmers to continue in the agricultural sector, specifically on the outskirts of Pontianak, West Kalimantan. This is accomplished by taking into account the proximity of the area to the city center, as well as certain demographic factors, in which the choice of occupation and decision to remain a farmer presents numerous obstacles. This study took a quantitative approach, with a sample size of 47 persons, and was analyzed using logistic regression. The findings of the study indicate that social environmental support from family and residents has a significant impact on young farmers' willingness to continue in agriculture. Social environmental support will help to eradicate negative stereotypes about farming, increasing young farmers' trust and confidence that becoming a farmer will give them pride and a secure future.  The results of this study also demonstrate that growing levels of education, farming experience, and off-farm job access improve the likelihood of young farmers' willingness to continue in the agricultural sector.
