Abstract

Background: The rapid proliferation of digital information has intensified the need for robust information literacy (IL) competencies in higher education. Many Library and Information Science (LIS) curricula rely on decontextualized instructional designs, which often limit students' ability to apply these critical skills within authentic social frameworks. Purpose: This study evaluates the efficacy of a Project-Based Service Learning (PjBSL) model, developed using the ADDIE instructional framework, in enhancing the applied information literacy outcomes of undergraduate LIS students. Methods: The researchers employed a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design involving 60 students. Participants were divided into experimental and control cohorts (n = 30 per group). Data were synthesized from expert validation, student practicality surveys, ACRL-aligned performance rubrics, and standardized learning assessments. Findings: The PjBSL model demonstrated exceptional validity (ICC = 0.922) and high practicality (M = 89.3). Notably, the experimental group showed significant performance gains over the control group (p < 0.001), supported by a remarkably large effect size (d = 2.61). Originality/Value: The findings indicate that integrating structured community-based projects transforms information literacy from a theoretical exercise into a socially contextualized practice. This research offers a scalable pedagogical shift for LIS education, bridging the gap between classroom instruction and real-world application.

Abstract

Libraries have undergone a significant transfomation from manual systems to automated services as part of advances in information technology. One innovation in circulation services is the implementation of self-lending machines to improve efficiency and user independece. This study aims to evaluate the utilization of self-lending machines at the National Library of the Republic on Indonesia using the End User Computing Satisfaction (EUCS) model, which includes ontent, accuracy, format, ease of use, and timeliness. This research employes a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were collected through quastionnaires distributed to 86 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The results show that overall user satisfaction is categorized as ver satisfied. The content and accuracy dimensiones obtained the highest mean scores, followed by format and ease of use, while timeliness recorded the lowest score. These findings indicate that the system has been effectively implemented and is able to meet user needs, altough improvements are still required in terms of system responsiveness and usability. This study highlights the importance of continuous evaluation to enchance technology-based library services and improve user-oriented service quality.

Abstract

Aplikasi SRIKANDI sebagai sistem kearsipan dinamis terintegrasi merupakan bagian dari upaya digitalisasi administrasi pemerintahan dalam mendukung pengelolaan arsip dan persuratan secara elektronik. Penerapan sistem ini menjadi penting dalam meningkatkan efektivitas, efisiensi, serta akuntabilitas penyelenggaraan administrasi, khususnya di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Kota Sawahlunto. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis implementasi Aplikasi SRIKANDI dalam meningkatkan kinerja pegawai di instansi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan teori implementasi kebijakan Edward III. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada aspek komunikasi, implementasi telah dilakukan melalui penyampaian informasi berupa surat edaran, sosialisasi, dan micro teaching kepada pegawai. Pada aspek sumber daya, pemanfaatan aplikasi belum optimal karena belum seluruh pegawai menggunakannya, meskipun sarana pendukung seperti jaringan internet telah tersedia namun masih mengalami kendala pada kondisi tertentu. Pada aspek disposisi, pegawai mengalami kesulitan pada tahap awal penggunaan serta masih terdapat penggunaan surat manual karena belum seluruh organisasi perangkat daerah mengimplementasikan aplikasi. Pada aspek struktur birokrasi, implementasi telah didukung oleh standar operasional prosedur dari pemerintah pusat maupun instansi terkait. Dengan demikian, implementasi Aplikasi SRIKANDI telah berjalan, namun masih memerlukan optimalisasi pemanfaatan oleh seluruh pegawai serta penguatan dukungan teknis guna meningkatkan kinerja secara lebih efektif.

Abstract

Perkembangan media sosial telah mengubah cara mahasiswa memperoleh dan menggunakan informasi, termasuk dalam pemilihan produk skincare. TikTok sebagai platform berbasis video pendek dan algoritma rekomendasi menjadi sumber informasi dominan yang memengaruhi preferensi dan keputusan konsumsi mahasiswa. Namun, derasnya arus informasi skincare di TikTok tidak selalu diimbangi dengan kemampuan literasi informasi yang kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan praktik literasi informasi mahasiswa dalam pemilihan skincare melalui media sosial TikTok berdasarkan perspektif Seven Pillars of Information Literacy (SCONUL). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur terhadap mahasiswa yang aktif mengakses konten skincare di TikTok. Data dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perolehan informasi skincare mahasiswa umumnya terjadi secara spontan melalui paparan konten For You Page (FYP) tanpa perumusan kebutuhan dan perencanaan pencarian yang jelas. Penilaian kredibilitas informasi cenderung didasarkan pada indikator popularitas konten, seperti jumlah like, komentar, dan tingkat viralitas, sehingga evaluasi informasi belum dilakukan secara kritis. Proses verifikasi, pengelolaan, dan penggunaan informasi berlangsung secara tumpang tindih dan pragmatis, dengan minimnya verifikasi ke sumber lain serta refleksi terhadap pengalaman penggunaan produk. Dalam perspektif SCONUL, ketujuh pilar literasi informasi telah muncul dalam praktik mahasiswa, namun penerapannya masih parsial dan dipengaruhi kuat oleh karakteristik media sosial berbasis algoritma. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya penguatan literasi informasi berbasis SCONUL agar mahasiswa mampu mengambil keputusan pemilihan skincare secara lebih kritis, reflektif, dan bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

Perkembangan kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence/AI) telah memengaruhi cara mahasiswa menjalankan aktivitas akademik, sekaligus memunculkan fenomena AI-giarism sebagai tantangan etika baru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk dan pola praktik AI-giarism dalam aktivitas akademik mahasiswa, mengidentifikasi tantangan literasi digital yang dihadapi dalam penggunaan AI, serta merumuskan strategi literasi digital untuk menghadapi praktik tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur terhadap mahasiswa yang memiliki pengalaman menggunakan AI dalam penyusunan tugas akademik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa AI umumnya digunakan pada tahap awal penulisan, seperti pencarian ide, penyusunan kerangka, dan perumusan bahasa, dengan variasi tingkat keterlibatan kognitif mahasiswa. Tantangan utama literasi digital tidak terletak pada kemampuan teknis, melainkan pada kemampuan berpikir kritis, reflektif, dan etis, serta adanya ambiguitas batas etis penggunaan AI. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa literasi digital berperan penting dalam mencegah praktik AI-giarism dengan menempatkan AI sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran, bukan pengganti proses berpikir, melalui penguatan kesadaran etika akademik dan tanggung jawab intelektual mahasiswa.

Abstract

  Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif melalui pengumpulan data berupa tanggapan tertulis responden terkait pengalaman dan pandangan mereka terhadap konten humor ofensif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa literasi digital memengaruhi kemampuan mahasiswa dalam memahami konteks humor, menilai batas kewajaran candaan, serta mempertimbangkan dampak sosial dari konten yang dikonsumsi dan dibagikan. Mahasiswa dengan literasi digital yang baik cenderung bersikap lebih kritis dan reflektif dalam menyikapi humor ofensif, tidak hanya memandangnya sebagai hiburan, tetapi juga sebagai pesan yang memiliki konsekuensi sosial. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya literasi digital dalam membangun sikap bijak dan bertanggung jawab dalam berinteraksi dengan konten humor di media sosial

Abstract

This research aims to describe how Minangkabau traditional dance knowledge transfer activities in the Arts Activity Unit of Padang State University using the knowledge transfer model of Liyanage et al. (2009). This research is a qualitative research with ethnographic method. The determination of informants in this study was carried out by snowball sampling method. Data collection was conducted using interviews and documentation. Data validation was done by triangulating sources and analysed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that: (1) knowledge awareness of the creation of wave dance and plate dance at UKKES UNP arose because they considered that the previous work had been too long, so it was necessary to make a new dance work, after the last work more than 10 years ago; (2) knowledge acquisition is carried out by selecting advanced members who are then assigned to appreciate other works outside UKKES to broaden the members' insights; (3) knowledge transformation, the new insights they saw and recorded before, were discussed by both fields to start making new movements by the choreographer and new music by the composer; (4) knowledge associations that are applied during the work is realised through rehearsals between members for approximately 3 months, accompanied by evaluations after rehearsals to add or subtract both movements and music that have been made; and (5) knowledge application is the stage where the work has been completed and performed for the first time at Gesika 12 on 30th September 2023, and continues to be performed at other events both on campus and off campus.

Abstract

This research aims to describe how library anxiety is experienced by students and what factors cause library anxiety in students entering 2023 at the Library of the Faculty of Languages and Arts, Padang State University using the library anxiety indicator Swigon (2011). This research is qualitative research using the phenemonological method. Determining informants in this research was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using interview and observation methods. Data validation was carried out by triangulating sources and time and analyzed through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that: (1) the frequency and purpose of students visiting the FBS library is based on different reasons, such as students feeling that the library does not provide the information they need, crowded library conditions sometimes make students afraid to go to the library alone, libraries that often crowded means students don't get any more seats, and library regulations that don't suit students' learning styles; (2) barriers with staff describes a situation where students feel that FBS library staff are intimidating figure; (3) affective barriers which give feelings of fear, awkwardness and discomfort become obstacles when students have to deal with the FBS library; (4) technological barriers where this is not an obstacle for students when using the FBS library because of the ease that students feel when using technology; (5) library knowledge barriers that arise due to students' lack of knowledge of libraries which makes them feel lazy about visiting the FBS library; (6) library comfort barriers are characterized by feelings of discomfort experienced by students while in the FBS library; (7) resource barriers experienced by students where students feel there is still a lack of availability and diversity of collections available in the FBS library.

Abstract

The Lecturer Works Collection Service (LBKD) is a form of utilizing local collections in university libraries that plays a crucial role in supporting academic needs; however, student perceptions of this service remain underexplored. This study aims to investigate student perceptions of the LBKD service at the UPT Library of Universitas Andalas. A descriptive quantitative method was employed, with data collected via a Google Form-based questionnaire distributed to 100 respondents selected through simple random sampling from a population of 53,336 users. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability using the Pearson Product Moment and Cronbach’s Alpha tests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics on a Likert scale. The results show that students generally have a positive perception of the LBKD service, with the indicator of collection relevance to academic needs achieving 72.79% and an average user experience score of 3.04. However, the frequency of information exposure recorded the lowest score of 1.97, indicating the need to enhance communication and service promotion strategies. These findings underscore the importance of content relevance, user experience, and communication effectiveness as key factors in evaluating the success of information services in libraries. The implications of this study support the development of evidence-based information services in library and information science and recommend further research using qualitative approaches and cross-faculty participation to gain deeper insights.

Abstract

This study aims to determine; 1) what is the work space layout in the Padang City Library and Archives Service; 2) what is the attitude of librarians at the Padang City Library and Archives Service; 3) what is the relationship between librarians' attitudes towards work space layout in the Padang City Library and Archives Service. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method. The population of this research was 15 librarians with a sample of 15 respondents. Sampling used a saturated sampling technique. The main instrument of this research is a questionnaire. The instrument tests used are validity tests and reliability tests. Test the analysis requirements using the Spearman rank correlation test, hypothesis test and coefficient of determination test. The research results show that the results of the Spearman Rank correlation analysis show that the correlation between work space layout and librarian attitudes is 0.744. With a correlation value of 0.744, if seen from the table, this figure is in the interval 0.60 – 0.799 with a strong level of relationship. Based on the correlation coefficient hypothesis test, it can be seen that the value of Fcount (13.075) > Ftable (5.14) means there is a relationship between the work space layout variable and the librarian attitude variable. The results of this research found that the higher the work space layout in the library, the higher the quality of the librarian's attitude in working in the library.
