Abstract

Sharia economic and financial literacy plays a crucial role in shaping the mindset and financial decision-making of the younger generation, especially in Indonesia as a country with a Muslim majority population. However, the level of sharia financial literacy among the younger generation is still relatively low, which can have an impact on their understanding and participation in the sharia-based financial system. This study highlights efforts to improve sharia financial literacy through socialization activities at SMKN 1 Kalosi Enrekang, which involve lectures, interactive discussions, and educational approaches. This program aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of sharia financial principles and products, so that they can make financial decisions that are in accordance with Islamic values. In addition, the integration of sharia financial literacy in the education curriculum and the use of digital technology are expected to strengthen sharia financial inclusion and support sharia-based economic growth.

Abstract

Waste management in Makassar City is an increasingly pressing issue along with rapid population growth and urbanization. In this context, the main challenges faced are low public awareness, limited waste management infrastructure, and weak enforcement of regulations related to waste processing. This study aims to provide a better understanding to the public about the importance of sustainable waste management and to study waste management policies and practices in Indonesia and Malaysia. Through community service activities including field observations, interviews with stakeholders, counseling, and preparation of recommendations, it is hoped that applicable solutions can be found to overcome waste management problems. One of the proposed solutions is the development of a Waste Bank which functions as a means to manage and recycle waste more effectively. The results of the study indicate that active community participation, government support, and collaboration between various parties are essential to create a sustainable waste management system. The recommendations produced include increasing public awareness, utilizing technology in waste management, and strengthening policies that support community initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors influencing awareness, attitudes, and intention to consume halal food and beverage products through online ordering applications, particularly among Muslim millennials in Kendari City. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 96 Muslim millennial respondents in Kendari City, selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique to assess the relationships among religiosity, product knowledge, awareness, attitude, and intention. The results indicate that awareness and attitude have a significant positive effect on the intention to consume halal products online. Religiosity and product knowledge do not directly influence intention. However, both religiosity and product knowledge significantly affect awareness. Furthermore, religiosity and awareness significantly influence attitudes, while product knowledge does not show a significant effect on attitudes. The findings suggest that halal certification authorities, online food ordering platforms, and halal food vendors should strengthen consumer awareness by improving the visibility of halal certification, providing transparent product information, and promoting halal literacy through digital channels. Enhancing consumers’ awareness and attitudes toward halal products may increase their intention to purchase halal food and beverages online. However, the study is limited by its relatively small sample size of 96 respondents and its focus on Muslim millennials in Kendari City, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other populations and geographical contexts. This study provides empirical insights into the behavioral determinants of halal consumption in the context of digital platforms, highlighting the mediating roles of awareness and attitude. It contributes to the growing literature on halal consumer behavior by focusing on Muslim millennials and the use of online food ordering applications, particularly in a regional Indonesian context.

Abstract

Halal tourism is an industry currently developing in developed countries, not only in Muslim-majority countries but also in Muslim-minority countries. According to the Global Muslim Travel Index in 2019, Indonesia rose to the top position as a tourist destination. The coronation of Indonesia as the world’s best halal tourism destination is a new wind of optimism for stakeholders in the halal tourism sector. The Ministry of Tourism continues to expand the scope of priority halal tourist destinations. LPPOM MUI, as an institution that focuses on handling halal certification no less agile in conducting halal certification in tourist destinations. However, the development of halal tourism in several areas has been rejected by residents. This study examines the effect of halal tourism and facilities for Muslim tourists visiting Muslim minority areas. The research method used is qualitative by using observation, interviews, documentation, and in the final stage by concluding. This study found that halal tourism in North Toraja was initially rejected due to a lack of socialization in the community. It causes public misunderstanding regarding halal tourism policies. Halal tourism services still need to be improved, from the availability of halal food, worship facilities, water and bathrooms, and religious harmony. Therefore, the development of halal tourism needs to be a concern for the government.
