Abstract

Emotional neglect is a form of parenting that is often unnoticed but has a significant impact on the development of young children. Although physical needs are met, children who do not receive emotional support such as affection, validation, attention, and responsiveness from their parents are at risk of experiencing psychological, social, and neurological developmental delays. This article aims to elaborate on the concept of emotional neglect in parenting, identify its characteristics, analyze causal factors, and explain its impact on child development. The research was conducted using the literature study method, examining books, scientific journals, and other relevant sources. The study results indicate that emotional neglect is closely linked to a permissive-negligent parenting style characterized by low parental warmth and involvement. The impact includes difficulties with emotional regulation, low self-esteem, behavioral problems, and even toxic stress that can affect a child's brain architecture. To address this issue, parents need to practice mindful parenting thru full emotional presence, warm communication, and consistent bonding activities. Thus, the effort to create a safe emotional environment becomes an important foundation for optimal child development.

Abstract

This article analyzes the challenges and solutions surrounding funding for Early Childhood Education (ECE) institutions in Indonesia, with a particular focus on the high dependence on parental fees and the limited availability of external support. ECE plays a crucial role in supporting children’s development during their early years; however, many institutions struggle with financial instability due to inadequate and inconsistent funding sources. This study uses a literature review approach by synthesizing relevant books, journal articles, government regulations, and institutional reports to provide a comprehensive understanding of the funding landscape. Findings show that most ECE institutions rely heavily on parental contributions, causing financial vulnerability, limiting program development, and reducing access for low-income families. Government assistance through the Operational Education Assistance (BOP) remains insufficient and often delayed. Meanwhile, collaborations with the private sector, CSR programs, and community-based support are still minimal. Financial challenges negatively affect institutions’ ability to provide adequate facilities, ensure teacher welfare, and implement holistic-integrative learning programs. The study suggests several solutions, including strengthening financial management capacity, applying participatory budgeting, diversifying funding sources, and initiating creative economic programs such as school bazaars and community partnerships. These strategies are expected to improve sustainability and enhance the quality of ECE services in Indonesia.

So, through parental guidance, children can become independent, responsible for what they have and become confident in carrying out activities without help from others. It is hoped that parents can provide time to provide stimulation to children from an early age.

The main character discussed is a disciplined character because the importance of a disciplined character reflects how foster children carry out the rules in orphanages. The findings from this study suggest that; (1) several phenomena of undisciplined character in foster children in orphanages include lazy attitudes of children, the presence of disobedient children, lack of self-awareness in implementing disciplinary attitudes such as not obeying applicable regulations. Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of low utilization of PNM funds by participants in accordance with program regulations. This study aims to analyze program socialization strategies that can be implemented to support fund utilization by PNM participants in accordance with regulations. The method used in this research is a literature study, which involves reviewing various sources such as scientific journals, books, and previous research relevant to the topic. The topic analyzed in this study is the low utilization of funds by PNM participants according to program regulations. The research results show that; (1) the phenomenon of the use of PNM funds that occurred was not in accordance with program provisions. For example, most of the funds were not used for business capital but for daily consumption purposes. (2) socialization strategy for the use of PNM funds. The socialization strategies implemented include; a participatory approach through officers, financial literacy training and education, ongoing mentoring and monitoring, use of socialization media, a group approach (joint responsibility), and the implementation of an incentive and sanction system. So, it can be concluded that the majority of PNM funds are used not for working capital or business development, but rather for daily consumption needs. Program socialization strategies are crucial to ensuring that PNM funds are utilized in accordance with program regulations. This research is expected to provide guidance for program managers to strengthen socialization aspects to ensure more productive and sustainable fund utilization.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the suboptimal utilization of Educational Play Tools (APE) in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) institutions, which results in less than optimal stimulation of child developmental aspects. The purpose of this study is to systematically examine research results related to the role and effectiveness of APE in developing cognitive, social-emotional, language, and motor skills in early childhood. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review method by examining scientific sources from reputable journals over the past five years. Data were collected through literature searches and analyzed using content analysis techniques. The results show that the success of APE use is greatly influenced by the role of teachers and their integration into the learning curriculum, not solely by the type or form of play tools used

Abstract

Obesity in early childhood has become an increasing health issue that significantly affects children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development. This condition results from an imbalance between energy intake and physical activity and is influenced by dietary patterns, family environment, parenting, technology exposure, and biological factors. Childhood obesity disrupts not only physical health but also impacts attention, memory, focus, and emotional regulation. This study uses a literature review method by analyzing various research related to childhood obesity and its developmental effects. Findings reveal that obesity reduces brain activity, decreases learning performance, and increases risks of anxiety and low self-esteem. Prevention strategies include monitoring dietary intake, increasing physical activity, applying healthy parenting styles, and strengthening collaboration between families and educational institutions. In conclusion, obesity poses a serious threat to children’s development and requires strong parental involvement in early prevention.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of the development of naturalist intelligence in early childhood as one aspect of Howard Gardner's theory of compound intelligence. Naturalist intelligence includes the ability of children to understand, appreciate, and interact with the natural environment. The active role of parents is a key factor in realizing this intelligence through daily activities, such as nature exploration, environmental education, and habituation of environmentally friendly behavior. The article analysis highlights practical strategies that parents can apply, including taking children for a walk in the park, observing flora and fauna, and discussing ecological issues in a simple way. The results of the study show that parental involvement not only increases children's naturalistic intelligence, but also forms a character of caring for the environment that supports the holistic development of early childhood. Thus, the development of naturalist intelligence through the role of parents can be an important foundation in instilling ecological values from an early age, while strengthening the dimension of character education that is oriented towards sustainability.

Abstract

Sleep patterns play a crucial role in supporting the growth and development of early childhood. Adequate and quality sleep contributes significantly to physical growth, cognitive development, emotional regulation, and social behavior in young children. However, changes in lifestyle, excessive screen exposure, and inconsistent daily routines often lead to irregular sleep patterns among early childhood learners. This study aims to analyse the influence of sleep patterns on the growth and development of early childhood. The research employs a literature review method by examining relevant journals, as well as authoritative books related to early childhood education and development. The findings indicate that children with regular sleep schedules and sufficient sleep duration demonstrate better physical growth, improved concentration, emotional stability, and optimal developmental milestones compared to children with irregular sleep patterns. In addition, parental involvement and educational environments, including nonformal education settings, play a significant role in shaping healthy sleep habits for children. These findings imply that collaboration between parents, educators, and nonformal education institutions is essential in fostering healthy sleep routines to support holistic child development. Therefore, awareness programs and educational interventions regarding sleep hygiene are necessary to optimize early childhood growth and development.
