Abstract

Purpose: The adoption of agricultural innovations in Indonesia faces numerous challenges. However, with appropriate approaches, there is significant potential to improve both productivity and the welfare of farmers. This paper aims to analyze the key determinants influencing farmers’ acceptance of new technologies or innovations, as well as the factors that may accelerate their adoption. Methodology: This study employs a literature review approach, analyzing various sources including academic journals, reports, and statistical data related to innovation adoption theories and farmers' behavioral patterns. Results: The study identifies a complex interplay of factors that hinder the adoption of agricultural innovations among Indonesian farmers. Key barriers include limited access to relevant information, low digital literacy, high financial costs, mismatch between innovation characteristics and local conditions, inadequate agricultural extension services, and farmers’ dependence on traditional markets. Additionally, institutional weaknesses—such as poor coordination among government bodies, ineffective policies, limited infrastructure, and the exclusion of farmers from participatory processes—further exacerbate adoption challenges. These findings emphasize that technological solutions alone are insufficient; addressing adoption gaps requires systemic improvements in policy, support services, and farmer engagement. Findings: Reveals significant outcomes from the research that contribute new insights to the field of study. This can include innovations, discoveries, or previously unknown information. Novelty: This research introduces a comprehensive, multi-dimensional framework for understanding the barriers to agricultural innovation adoption in Indonesia by integrating technological, socio-economic, and institutional factors, rather than examining them in isolation. Originality: The study uniquely contributes to existing literature by synthesizing recent empirical evidence and theoretical insights to highlight context-specific challenges faced by Indonesian farmers, and by proposing actionable, collaborative strategies that link innovation design with local socio-cultural realities and policy reform—an approach rarely explored in previous studies on agricultural technology adoption. Conclusion: Addressing the challenges of agricultural innovation adoption requires collaborative efforts among stakeholders. Strategies should focus on improving access to information, providing financial support, tailoring innovations to local conditions, strengthening the role of agricultural extension agents, increasing farmer motivation, and developing partnerships and market access.

Abstract

This study explores the potential of agroecology in developing a sustainable sugar palm agroindustry in Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The sugar palm (Arenga pinnata) is a vital economic resource, yet its development faces limited technology, traditional management practices, and low-quality seed availability. The research aims to analyze the demographic characteristics influencing the adoption of agroecological principles among sugar palm craftsmen and assess the agroindustry's sustainability and productivity. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving in-depth interviews with 100 respondents, including sugar palm farmers and craftsmen, alongside secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency. The findings reveal that most artisans are in the productive age group, with low formal education but significant practical experience. While 65% of respondents practice crop diversification, challenges remain in soil conservation and adopting environmentally friendly technologies. The study forecasts increased palm sugar production, projecting growth from 664.4 tons in 2022 to 790.8 tons by 2026, indicating potential for enhanced productivity. Integrating traditional knowledge with modern agroecological practices is essential for improving sustainability and competitiveness in the sugar palm agroindustry. Training programs that respect traditional values while promoting sustainable practices are necessary to empower artisans and enhance regional food security. This research underscores the importance of community collaboration among farmers, government, and research institutions to foster a more resilient and equitable agroecological system.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics and competence levels of Independent Agricultural Extension Workers (IAEW) in Tanah Datar Regency. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method with a survey approach involving 85 respondents selected through a census technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews, then analyzed using frequency and percentage tabulations. The findings show that most IAEWs are aged ≥50 years (62.81%), have a senior high school education (56.4%), and possess 4–6 years of extension experience (35.9%). Psychologically, the majority demonstrate high motivation (52.6%), broad cosmopolitan orientation (46.1%), and strong creativity and innovation (50%). Overall, the IAEW competence level falls into the moderate category (61.53%), followed by low (21.80%) and high (16.67%). The technical dimension shows the highest competence, while managerial, institutional, coordination, and collaboration aspects need further strengthening. These results highlight the importance of continuous managerial and institutional capacity-building programs to enhance the role of IAEWs as strategic partners of government extension workers in promoting sustainable agricultural development.

Abstract

Artikel ini melakukan tinjauan sistematis terhadap literatur penelitian di bidang agrowisata. Dalam penelitian ini, dengan menggunakan metodologi tinjauan literatur terstruktur, kelompok penelitian yang sudah ada dan yang baru muncul telah diidentifikasi untuk analisis epistemologis. Analisis tersebut membantu dalam mengidentifikasi topik penelitian utama, keterkaitan, dan pola kolaborasi di bidang agrowisata dan bidang penelitian lain yang melibatkan konsep serupa. Pemetaan grafis bidang penelitian agrowisata dilakukan dengan menggunakan VOSviwer. Berdasarkan hasil pencarian artikel memperoleh 500 hasil penelusuran karya ilmiah dan kemudian di export dalam format RIS dan diolah dengan mengunakan VOSviwer, dalam jangka waktu 2017 sampai 2022. Pemetaan grafis ini menggambarkan kontribusi penulis dan negara, kolaborasi mereka, dan pola publikasi selama periode tersebut. Makalah ini memberikan wawasan tentang tema-tema penelitian utama yang dipelajari dan juga mengidentifikasi bidang-bidang umum yang menjadi minat penelitian saat ini dan potensi arah untuk penelitian di masa depan. Pengelolaan kawasan pertanian sebagai agrowisata perlu dikembangkan karena selain menjadi media edukasi bagi pengunjung tentang pertanian juga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan bagi masyarakat. This article conducts a systematic review of the research literature in the field of agritourism. In this study, using a structured literature review methodology, existing and emerging research groups have been identified for epistemological analysis. The analysis helps in identifying key research topics, linkages, and collaboration patterns in the field of agritourism and other research fields involving similar concepts. Graphic mapping of the agrotourism research field was carried out using VOSviwer. Based on the article search results, 500 scientific work search results were obtained and then exported in RIS format and processed using VOSviwer, in the period 2017 to 2022. This graphic mapping illustrates the contribution of authors and countries, collaborations them, and publication patterns over the period. This paper provides insight into the main research themes studied and also identifies general areas of current research interest and potential directions for future research.

Abstract

The food crop subsector plays a crucial role in regional development by contributing to food security, farmer welfare, and rural economic stability. West Pasaman Regency, one of the main food production centers in West Sumatra, has significant potential but faces challenges such as productivity fluctuations, land conversion, and socio-economic issues among farmer households. This research, titled Analysis of the Development of Food Crops in Supporting Sustainable Agriculture in West Pasaman Regency, aims to identify the economic, social, and environmental conditions of the subsector and formulate holistic recommendations for supporting sustainable agriculture. The study employs secondary data analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively, using trend analysis and Shift Share to evaluate competitiveness. Results indicate that the food crop subsector in West Pasaman is projected to grow by 1.67% in 2024, higher than the provincial rate of 0.57%. The positive Competitive Effect suggests a local competitive advantage. However, unstable rice GDP and productivity, an increasing poor population, and ongoing land conversion remain threats to sustainability. Based on the analysis, strategic recommendations focus on three pillars: (1) economic—boosting productivity through eco-friendly technology, diversification, and downstream processing; (2) social—strengthening farmer institutions, regenerating agricultural labor, and ensuring food-based social protection; and (3) environmental—protecting productive land, conserving resources, and promoting sustainable cultivation practices. Overall, the development of the food crop subsector must adopt a holistic approach to enhance regional competitiveness and achieve sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Tahu merupakan salah satu komoditi yang sangat digemari oleh masyarakat. Namun, bahan baku utama pembuatan tahu adalah kedelai impor dengan harga yang relatif tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan faktor-faktor produksi pengolahan kedelai terhadap produksi tahu dan mengetahui efisiensi ekonomi penggunaan faktor-faktor produksi tahu di Kota Padang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei menggunakan 30 produsen tahu yang didapatkan menggunakan metode sensus. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara dengan bantuan kuisioner. Alat analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu analisis regresi berganda dengan fungsi Cobb-Douglas dan analisis efisiensi ekonomi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor produksi bahan baku, tenaga kerja, jam kerja dan mesin giling berpengaruh signifikan terhadap produksi tahu pada agroindustri tahu di Kota Padang dengan koefisien determinasi (R2)= 96,7% sedangkan sisanya dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain yang belum dimasukkan dalam model.

Abstract

Tren permintaan kopi yang semakin meningkat menjadi peluang bagi daerah-daerah penghasil kopi untuk membangun branding kopi mereka. Tujuan dari tulisan ini adalah untuk merumuskan skema membangun branding kopi Minang dalam rangka menumbuhkan ekonomi kerakyatan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah literature review mengenai branding. Ulasan literatur menunjukkan bahwa dalam membangun branding kopi diperlukan skema atau rancangan yang dimulai dari survei persepsi konsumen terhadap kopi dan jenis kopi yang dikonsumsi. Dalam membangun brand kopi Minang, langkah awal yang perlu dilakukan adalah survei persepsi konsumen terhadap kopi dan jenis kopi yang dikonsumsi. Langkah selanjutnya adalah spesialisasi kopi sesuai persepsi konsumen, yang dapat dilakukan melalui Focus Group Discussion (FGD). Setelah itu, perlu dilakukan sosialisasi secara massif melalui promosi terhadap branding kopi Minang. Melalui pendekatan ini, branding kopi dapat dikembangkan sesuai dengan preferensi konsumen, sehingga meningkatkan nilai tambah kopi Minang di pasar. Strategi branding yang efektif tidak hanya akan meningkatkan daya saing kopi Minang tetapi juga memberikan dampak positif bagi perekonomian masyarakat setempat. Dengan demikian, pembangunan branding kopi Minang yang berbasis pada survei persepsi konsumen dan kegiatan promosi yang intensif dapat menjadi salah satu cara untuk mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi kerakyatan di Sumatera Barat dan Indonesia secara umum. Penelitian ini memberikan panduan strategis yang diperlukan untuk membangun dan mengembangkan branding kopi yang efektif, serta menekankan pentingnya pemahaman mendalam tentang preferensi konsumen dalam proses tersebut.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pertumbuhan industri kopi di Indonesia yang signifikan, sehingga tingkat persaingan antar industri kopi meningkat. Sebagai salah satu kawasan industri pengolahan kopi bubuk di Provinsi Sumatera Barat, Nagari Koto Tuo Kabupaten Tanah Datar, harus berdaya saing tinggi dengan kinerja bisnis yang baik. Penulis tertarik melakukan penelitian tentang kinerja bisnis industri kopi bubuk di Nagari Koto Tuo. Tujuan dari penelitian  ini adalah untuk menganalisis kinerja industri kopi bubuk lokal di Nagari Koto Tuo berdasarkan aspek pangsa pasar, kepuasan konsumen, posisi persaingan, retensi konsumen, dan pertumbuhan penjualan. Metode penelitian adalah metode kuantitatif, dengan analisis data secara statistik deskriptif. Responden dalam penelitian berjumlah 139 responden yang diambil secara simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai pangsa pasar adalah sebesar 87% dari hasil yang diharapkan adalah 100%.  Berikutnya didapat setiap nilai sebagai berikut ; kepuasan konsumen diperoleh nilai 69% dari yang diharapkan, posisi persaingan diperoleh nilai 57% dari yang diharapkan, dan retensi konsumen diperoleh nilai 57% dari yang diharapkan. Untuk kinerja bisnis diperoleh 68%, dapat dikatakan bahwa kinerja bisnis industri kopi bubuk di Nagari Koto Tuo sudah mendekati nilai yang diharapkan, yaitu sebesar 100%.

Abstract

Farming analysis is important to determine the allocation of resource use on a farm. This research aims to describe the implementation of red chili cultivation techniques and analyze the income and profits of red chili farming in Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency. The method used in this research is the descriptive method. The number of samples is determined by quota, while the sampling method is purposive. The research results show that farmers carry out chili cultivation after shallot cultivation. Cultivation techniques begin with land processing (only repairing the beds), planting, weeding, inserting, installing stakes, fertilizing, controlling pests and diseases, harvesting, and post-harvest. Income analysis shows an average income of IDR 52,553,499.10/Land area/Planting Season or IDR 153,541,311.14/ha/Planting Season with a profit of IDR 39,570,967.01/Land area/Planting Season or IDR 89,884,691.45/ha/Planting Season. Farming efficiency through the R/C ratio obtains profitable results of IDR 2.046 from each unit of input used in red chili farming. It shows that red chili farming is worth pursuing. Keywords: Farming, red chilies, cultivation techniques, income, profits INTISARIAnalisis usahatani penting dilakukan untuk mengetahui alokasi penggunaan sumberdaya pada sebuah usahatani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan teknik budidaya cabai merah dan menganalisis pendapatan serta keuntungan pada usahatani cabai merah di Kecamatan Lembah Gumanti Kabupaten Solok. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif.  Jumlah sampel ditetapkan secara kuota, sedangkan metode pengambilan sampelnya secara purposive. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa budidaya cabai dilakukan petani setelah budidaya bawang merah. Teknik budidaya diawali dengan pengolahan lahan (hanya memperbaiki bedengan), penanaman, penyiangan, penyisipan, pemasangan ajir, pemupukan, pengendalian hama dan penyakit, panen dan pasca panen. Analisis pendapatan memperlihatkan pendapatan rata-rata sebesar Rp 52.553.499,10/LL/MT atau Rp 153.541.311,14/ha/MT dengan keuntungan sebesar Rp 39.570.967,01/LL/MT atau Rp 89.884.691,45/ha/MT. Efisiensi usahatani melalui R/C ratio mendapatkan hasil yang menguntungkan yaitu sebesar 2,046 rupiah dari setiap satuan input yang digunakan dalam usahatani cabai merah.  Hal ini memperlihatkan bahwa usahatani cabai merah layak untuk diusahakan. Abstract

This research was conducted in Tapsel Regency, North Sumatra for 8 months starting in April 2018, in 24 villages located in 4 sub-districts out of 14 sub-districts, determined by the Multistage Sampling Technique. Determination of respondents by purposive sampling technique. The respondents observed were 112 sugar palm farmers. Determination of respondents by purposive sampling technique. Research objectives: To describe the conditions and perceptions of sugar palm farmers in relation to the development of sugar palm agro-industry institutions. Data analysis techniques: Descriptive Analysis. Arranged variables; variable Y; Agroindustry Institutions, and variable X consists of 1. Human Resources, 2. Interaction, 3. Motivation, 4. Farmer Participation, and 5. Socio-Economic. Measured through 14 parameters spread over 49 lists of structured questions on the questionnaire. Farmers' responses to the questionnaire were assessed using a Likert Scale to identify and interpret the conditions and perceptions of sugar palm farmers. The results of the research produce recommendations: 1. Instilling confidence in sugar palm farmers, is important 2. Socialization is needed to sugar palm farmers, for example about; standard price of palm sugar, the technology used and the performance of the agro-industry. 3. The issue of agro-industry institutional leaders must go through a separate study.
