Abstract

Ikan dewa (mahseer) penting untuk konservasi di Pulau Jawa karena tingginya nilai ekonomis dan ekologis, sehingga diperlukan analisis kekerabatan genetik. Penelitian dilakukan di Sungai Sungapan, Sungai Cimanuk, Curug Tonjong, Curug Cimedang, Sungai Ciwulan, Sungai Serayu, Sungai Progo, Sungai Samin, Sungai Kedung Minten, dan Sungai Brantas di pulau Jawa, bertujuan menganalisis kekerabatan genetik ikan dewa. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengambilan sampel acak dari sungai di pulau Jawa. Identifikasi molekuler menggunakan gen COI (Cytochrome Oxidase I) untuk menganalisis jarak dan kekerabatan genetik, lalu data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil elektroforesis menunjukkan amplikon ±700 bp dari gen COI untuk semua sampel. Analisis sekuens menggunakan BOLD System mengidentifikasi sampel memiliki kemiripan dengan Tor tambra dan Neolissochilus soro. Analisis genetik menggunakan MEGA11 menunjukkan jarak genetik antara spesies Tor sp. dengan spesies Neolissochilus sp. sebesar 0,0-3,2%, mengindikasikan perbedaan spesies. Tor sp. dari beberapa sungai menunjukkan kekerabatan dekat (≤1%) dengan spesies Tor lainnya (T. tambra, T. mekongensis, T. dongnaiensis). Namun, Neolissochilus sp. dari sungai lain memiliki jarak genetik tinggi (hingga 6%) dengan genus Neolissochilus dari GeneBank. Analisis filogenetik memperkuat hasil ini, mengelompokkan sampel menjadi dua klaster monofiletik yang berbeda secara genetik, yaitu klaster Tor sp. yang berkerabat dekat dengan T. tambra, dan klaster Neolissochilus sp. yang terpisah dan berkerabat jauh dengan spesies Neolissochilus lain yang tersedia di GeneBank.

Abstract

Kurangnya pangan tradisional dengan kandungan protein tinggi mendorong eksplorasi ikan nila sebagai sumber protein lokal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengoptimalkan fortifikasi hidrolisat protein ikan nila (HPI) pada rengginang yang merupakan penganan yang terbuat dari beras ketan guna meningkatkan nilai gizi tanpa mengorbankan karakteristik fisik dan sensori. Metode penelitian menggunakan RAL, uji fisik (ekspansi volume) dan evaluasi sensoris oleh panelis. Data dianalisis menggunakan Friedman dan Bayes untuk menentukan preferensi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fortifikasi 5% HPI merupakan rengginang yang optimal dengan ekspansi volume 261,0%, kadar protein 14,57% (peningkatan 116%), dan nilai sensoris rata-rata 7,3 pada skala 1-9 yang menunjukkan tingkat penerimaan yang tinggi dari panelis. Kadar air produk (8,1%) memenuhi standar camilan. Fortifikasi ini meningkatkan nilai nutrisi tanpa mengorbankan penerimaan konsumen, mendukung pengembangan pangan fungsional berbasis bahan lokal. Penelitian ini menunjukkan potensi rengginang fortifikasi HPI sebagai camilan sehat, dengan rekomendasi untuk uji lanjutan mengenai stabilitas penyimpanan dan strategi pemasaran untuk adopsi pasar.

Abstract

The Cimanuk River was a vital component supporting water resources in West Java. However, further downstream, the water quality decreased due to industrial and household waste disposal. Plastic pollution was a serious issue because plastics in water degraded into microplastics, which were harmful to both ecosystems and human health. This study aimed to assess the abundance and characteristics of microplastics in the Upper Cimanuk Watershed and to explore how waste management was implemented in Garut Regency. The water sampling method for microplastic analysis used non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling technique. The waste management analysis was a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. Microplastics were found in the waters of the Upper Cimanuk Watershed, with the highest abundance recorded at Station 8 (2.14 particles/liter) and the lowest at Station 1 (0.62 particles/liter). The microplastics identified were dominated by fragments (52%), black-colored particles (47%), and sizes smaller than 1 mm or small microplastics (97%). These findings reflected a high level of microplastic pollution related to human activities around the river. Waste management in Garut Regency had not met its targets, leading to plastic accumulation that could form microplastics. Improvements in facilities, community participation, and policies were needed to control pollution and protect the environment. The results of this study provided baseline data that could inform stakeholders in the Upper Cimanuk Watershed for effective watershed management planning.

Asian J Agric 1: 29-34. This research aimed to develop a sustainable aquaculture system using single-sex nilem fish (Osteochilus hasseltii Valenciennes, 1842; syn. Osteochilus vittatus Valenciennes, 1842) in trophic level-based farming and to analyze the feeding habits, types of meal and preference level of the feed in O. vittatus farmed in Cirata Reservoir. In addition, it also aimed to determine the fish's ability as a biocontrol agent for water cleaning by measuring the ability to utilize periphyton attached to the floating nets. Research was conducted at the Laboratory of Ciparanje, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran and floating nets of Cirata reservoir. Observations of the performance of biological testing and food feeding were applied with the experimental design method of Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications. The five treatments include non-artificial feeding (treatment A), 1% feeding of body weight per day (treatment B), 2% feeding of body weight per day (treatment C), 3% of feeding of body weight per day (treatment D), and 4% feeding of body weight per day (treatment E). The results showed there was no difference in both the survival and growth levels of the female single-sex fish that were given both commercial and non-commercial feed. The highest feed efficiency was observed in the 3% of commercial feeding treatment, amounting to 55.30%. The fish are herbivorous and generalist with trophic levels between 1.03% and 1.45% eating plankton for living. Fish fed with artificial food to 4% of the biomass still grazed on phytoplankton as the main source of food but adapted by changing the natural feeding and tend to be ineffective in utilizing the available food resources in the waters. During the study, both the types and amount of periphyton attached to the nets decreased. Higher commercial feeding level results in a higher density of periphyton in the floating nets.

Abstract

Kepulauan seribu archipelago is home to Kelapa Dua Island, a potential marine tourism destination and habitat for diverse marine life. The survival of marine biota hinges on suitable physical and chemical water parameters, encompassing temperature, pH, salinity, and dissolved oxygen (DO). This study aims to evaluate water quality and litter distribution on Kelapa Dua Island within Kepualauan Seribu National Park. Results reveal that the water quality largely aligns with established standards; however, specific points surpass limits, notably lower salinity at stasion 3 (26%o), and higher pH at station 2 (9.35). Despite meeting quality standards, the island's status as a populated area and tourist destination raises concerns about potential alterations to water quality. Furthermore, observations on litter distribution indicate a status categorized as B (0-4/m) and C (4-10/m), highlighting a relatively low level of litter presence. The interaction of human activities, both as inhabitants and visitors, may contribute to fluctuations in water quality. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for sustainable management, ensuring the preservation of Pulau Kelapa's ecological integrity as a cherished marine environment and tourist attraction.
