WayangGolek is part of Javanese culture, its existence has now changed in the third generation. This puppet show is precisely in BintangMeriah Village in BatangKuisDistrict,Deliserdang Regency the origin of Golek puppets was created from a community of musical arts. The musical facilities used are unique because all the musical equipment is made of bamboo, until one day the idea of one of the members of the music to initiate a cultural addition in a performance, this is intended so that fans of this music do not get bored with the music performance. Then cameWayangGolek whose creation is not far from the basic material that is bamboo. The taking of bamboo as the basic material in this art has a deep philosophy, where bamboo when blown by the wind he will remain strong at the root even of the bamboo tree. This illustrates that we must be able to keep up with the times by bringing the culture that we have.

This thesis contains an analysis of the emancipation of women in the novel entitled Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The purpose of this study is to find out the type of female emancipation in the novel Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow in the Obama era in 2016 and to find out the impact of women's emancipation. Data is taken from the novel Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow. From results of the data analysis found that there are two types of emancipation found away the five types of emancipation, namely, the emancipation of women fostering progress / society. The positive impact of women's emancipation is that women can become independent and independent from men. And the negative impact of the emancipation of women is the absence of gender identity or the loss of gender identity during the Obama period.

This paper entitled Intertextual Study “When Were Mine by Rebecca Serle and Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare”. The research method is a qualitative descriptive method with an intertextual approach. The problem discussed in this article is how the intertextual relationship between "When Were Mine by Rebecca Serle and Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare". The scope of the problem discussed is the intrinsic elements and stories of novels and drama scripts whose intertextual relationships are reviewed from the theme and plot. Also describes the intrinsic elements and intertextual relationships “When Were Mine by Rebecca Serle and Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare” in terms of themes and plot. Based on the results of the discussion, the intertextual relationship between “When Were Mine by Rebecca Serle and Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare” is the similarity of theme and plot. In addition, there are differences between the two novels and the drama. The similarity between the two stories is that both novels have the theme of romance, containing teachings about human life to be able to behave and act according to logic.

The researcher made this paper based on my discourse analysis to the song “My Heart Will Go On” as the theme of Titanic. It was interesting to analyze this song because the researcher really like the movie (Titanic) of which this song’s as the theme. The objective of this research was to know what the main idea or information from this song whether it is appropriate with the story of this movie or not. It was a descriptive qualitative method and it used the semantic approach to analyze the song lyrics. In order the researcher can understand the meaning of the song easily, first, translating the song lyrics into Indonesian, then trying to understand the meaning of each word in this song, next, analyzing the social and cultural context of the song. The researcher also tried to give a personal response to the song based on opinion to the movie generally and to the song specifically. It is a good song. This song is really about true love. The Titanic movie gave people a stereotype every time listened to this song they would imagine that the song is from Rose for jack, her true love. The content of this song is all about love. Love did not disappear although one of them was died. They would meet and see each other in her dream every night. It seems to be impossible, but it shows us what a powerful the true love is. “My Heart Will Go On” tells us the different point of view. In this song, true love can not disappear, it’s forever in her heart.

The study analyses the forms of feminism by Abi Dare. The Girl with the Louding Voice tells about the experience of girl who is tough, strong and brave. She experienced exploitation, oppression and slavery in a patriarchal society and was able to resist them. This research shows the forms of feminism movement by women. The purpose of this study is first, to find out the types of feminism contained in the novel. Second, to find out the resistance shown in the novel. This study uses a structuralism approach by Ferdinand de Saussure. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method to analyse the data source is taken from the story quote in the novel The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Dare. The findings in this study are first, the types of feminism that occur in The Girl With The Louding Voice novel are liberal feminism, Marxist feminism, socialist feminism and existential feminism. Second, the resistance shown the novel The Girl With TheLouding Voice is closed resistance and open resistance.

In the local context, the language and culture of the region or elements of locality are always in an important position capable of binding their primordialism, bothinspirit, behavior, social networks, choice of political attitudes, and identity. The dynamics of language and cultural development (local, tribes, and ethnic )are very prominent in their diversity and have strong potential in order to develop and strengthen the unity and unity of the citizens of the Republic of Indonesia. The presence of external factors affects the power of acceptance and self-adjustment to language and culture that comes from outside. Inabsorbing culture and accepting external influences at least results in the occurrence of two aspects:first, outside influences enrich cultural capital and regional languages; and secondly, it can also happen that the opposite is precisely the outside influences that come to reduce, evenpotentially eliminate the existence of regional cultures and languages.

The purpose of this study is to describe a desire and also the purpose of using identity and symbols from Malay ethnicity and culture in the North Sumatra region. The results of research in the field will be analyzed using theory based on social action with research methods that use qualitative as well as quantitative case studies in North Sumatra. Data collection using detailed interview methods and also observations from respondents in North Sumatra. The data analysis used in this research method reveals various symbols of Malay culture in North Sumatra which have messages to convey to the wider community regarding traditions, culture and local wisdom in North Sumatra. Symbols are media that can be used to reinforce a status that has a relationship with power and also the human and natural resources in North Sumatra. The symbol of Malay identity in North Sumatra in the post-reformation era became one of the actions taken by Malay people as a form of existence for the Malay community to show their concern for local cultures in North Sumatra. This action is one of the motives of the Malay ethnicity in North Sumatra to change the potential for relations between ethnic groups in North Sumatra in order to maintain local wisdom and also hold the strategic side in North Sumatra. So that it can increase the value of Malay culture in North Sumatra.

This research aims (1) To develop student’s writing skill through blended learning (2) To find out whether blended learning can develop student’s writing skills through blended learning. (3) To explain the process of developing writing skills using blended learning. The population of the research was the students of STKIP Usman Safri Kutacane. The sample was second semester consisted of 12 students. The sample was taken by purposive sampling. The research was a Research and Experimental Development (R&D), which conducted by giving two tests, pre-test and post-test. Pre-test was given before implementing writing descriptive essay while post-test was given after implementing writing descriptive essay. It was carried out on using qualitative and quantitave method. The instrument of the data collection was a essay writing tests.. The data was analyzed by using T-test. After the data had been collected by using test, it was found that the pre-test average was 61,67 while post-test was 76,67. There were 15% improvement from the pre-test value. So, the writer concluded that there were improvement of the writing skill of the students through blended learning model. It can also proved by comparing the result t observation (5,169) with t table (4,318) for alpha = 0,1%. It was meant that the hypothesis was received.

This study aims to determine the development, validity and effectiveness of the Developing reading comprehension material by using questioning technique at SMAN 13 Medan. This research is a research and development (R&D) using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The instrument used is a questionnaire for expert lecturers and students, interviews with teachers, and the results of the last test given to students. The test results from the validator through media design as a whole get valid category criteria (88,9 %) so that teaching materials can be used as teaching materials for students in the learning process. The results of the assessment of English Teaching Materials by experts on the substance of the material as a whole from the aspects that are considered to have received appropriate criteria (86,7%). so that the Teaching Materials can be used in the learning process. And the test results show that the average value of students with score 62,70 % so that they get the effective criteria.

This local wisdom is one of the products of tradition that lives in society and also develops in the environment of indigenous peoples which has been passed down from generation to generation. This local wisdom functions as a guide to behavior and also shapes people in life by displaying a wise, wise, kind and authoritative side that is firmly entrenched in people's lives and at the same time becomes a guide in that life. In today's society, sometimes local wisdom becomes one of the entities that determines human dignity, which presents intelligence, knowledge, and morals. This is one of the foundations of building a civilized society in the midst of the onslaught of the current era of globalization. This study uses a qualitative and ethnographic approach using primary data through interviews and documentation. This study found that local wisdom has validation that serves as justification for cultural tolerance in the Padang Sidempuan area. The powerlessness of indigenous peoples who are racing towards the traditional side is indeed threatened by the inability to maintain existence in order to continue the traditions of their ancestors which have begun to be eroded by the times.
