Abstract

Multilateral trade agreement under the auspice of the GATT/WTO is expected to change the nation’s competitiveness in the global economy. In the context of the agricultural agreement, there are three mayor changing policies to be committed by the WTO members: (a) market access, (b) export subsidies and (c) domestic support. Likewise, ASEAN regional agreement (AFTA) will reduce the relative price of international prices to the domestic prices and the exploitation of the comparative advantage.  The questions to be answered is whether such multilateral agreements affect agricultural trade in the region.  A recursive-dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) and the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) database were used to assess such impacts. Two important scenarios were then considered: APEC and AFTA scenarios.  The results indicate that as import tariff levels are completely removed, the demand for imported goods would certainly be increased.  This is because domestic consumers (private consumers and industries) would face decreasing domestic prices.  However, the size of import changes depends on the initial tariff rates.  The higher the initial intra-regional tariffs, and the larger the tariff cuts, the higher the gains from the trade creation.  Under the AFTA trade liberalisation, rice output in the ASEAN member countries with the exception of Thailand is projected to shrink. The AFTA tariff reduction would cause an increase in exports in most ASEAN economic sectors.  Focusing on the export changes in the agricultural sectors, it is reported that the cereal and processed milk sectors are predicted to have noticeable increases in their exports. However, since trade liberalisation would have adverse effects on the uncompetitive producing sectors, adjustment assistance is highly recommended in order to compensate for any losses; for instance, reduced farm incomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a credit risk control system to implement risk-based audit (RBA). The case was conducted in three stages using system approach. The first stage was to identify the factors influencing the effectiveness RBA implementation. Identification process was conducted through gap observation and exploration to determine key factors derived through gap analysis comparing the empirical outcome of the effectiveness credit management process from the expectation outcome. The second stage was using Exponential Comparison Method (ECM) which produces the ranking and the priority of the key factors through experts with in-depth interview which is the paramount importance steps to evaluate. The third stage was using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) techniques, involving the experts with questionnaire and in-depth interview to decide the best, suitable alternative strategies to cope with the negative gap, to reach the goals expected which is to minimize the gap. There were four components mentioned to complete and to detect the gap, which credit operation, human resource knowledge, organization, and supporting system/IT. The output of this study was a credit risk control system for the bank. The study has limitation, due to the scope of the region of the bank, and the risk mapping only for credit risk. The preposition of the study, that the application of the system will enhance the implementation of risk-based audit model. Keywords: Exponential Comparison Method/ECM, Key Factors, Study, Credit Risk Control, AHP, Risk-Based Audit

Abstract

The purpose of this recearch is to detemine the integration between the main producers of ribbed smoked sheet/RSS and world commodity exchange. This research used vector autoregressionmodel (VAR) with no consideration of cointegration based on the daily price data from January 2013 to December 2014. The results showed that not all market’s RSS integrated. But in the short term proved that the Singapore Commodity Exchange and Tokyo Commodity Exchange affect the market price formation in Indonesia and Thailand. Overall the response of each market is relatively small to price in the Singapore and Japan stock thus less strongly affect the prices established in each market. The results also show the price at the commodity exchange of Singapore and Japan became the source of the greatest affect in explaining the variability of prices in both stock markets. Keywords: RSS, market integration, VAR, market price, ribbedABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui integrasi antara pasar karet alam sit asap (ribbed smoked sheet/RSS) produsen utama dengan pasar berjangka dunia. Abstract

Indonesia is the world’s fourth biggest coffee exporter with a market share of 9.7 %. This study examined the asymmetric price transmission in the coffee market between the importing countries (United State, German, and Japan) and Indonesia. AECM (Asymmetric Error Correction Model) was used to examine the asymmetric price transmission by using the monthly data from 2005 to 2014. The result of the study showed  that there is no price asymmetry in the coffee market in the long run because there is no market power in the coffee market; however,   in the short run, there is asymmetry price transmission in the United State and Japan due to the adjustment cost. Keywords: coffee, asymmetric price transmission, AECM

Abstract

he agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors have a share of 22.05% with 4.21% growth in North Sulawesi. The fisheries sub-sector dominates by 30%. The disbursement of banking institutions' credit for the sector increased by 35% in 2015-2017 but absorbs only 7% of total loans disbursed. The reluctance of formal financial institutions to provide credit to improve small fisheries has increased in non-formal financing. This study identifies factors influencing financing sources choice, comparison of bank and non-bank financing sources, and recommend adaptive financing patterns for small fisheries. Based on descriptive qualitative analysis of in-depth interviews with 32 respondents from 85 Pajeko fishers (mini purse seine) in the Bitung Oceanic Fishing Port (PPS), concluded that 97% of Pajeko fishers in Bitung chose non-bank to finance their operation with determinant factors of financial source: (i) easiness administration (88%), (ii) payment flexibility (78%), and (iii) collateral (69%). The result of comparison simulation shows that boat owner financing with profit sharing for three (boat, boat owner, crews) is the most profitable for the boat owner, while bank loan financing with profit sharing for two (boat owner, crews) is the most profitable for crews. Accordingly, an adaptive financing strategy development is recommended for banking institutions based on influencing factors of fisher’s choices and Pajeko fisher’s characteristics-based approach. Abstract

Corn and poultry are two strategic commodities supporting food security and highly dependent on one another. This study analyses the short-term and long-term relationship between the price variables for eggs, broiler, and corn. It determines the effect of COVID-19 at the producer and consumer levels on the price of eggs in 28 provinces in Indonesia using the Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (PARDL) – Pooled Mean Group (PMG) approach. The PARDL estimation showed a short-term relationship between egg, broiler, and corn price variables at the producer and consumer levels, and this is shown by a significant positive and negative relationship in several provinces. There is a substitution relationship between laying hens and broiler in North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra, West Java, Central Java, Banten, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, and West Papua, while the complementary relationship only occurs in Bali. In addition, the Indonesian laying hen industry should be supported by integrated policies from upstream to downstream. This is a policy of the lowest and the highest retail price and those that regulates the creation of corn supply balance inputs as the main feed for laying hens. Abstract

The attack levels of plant pest organisms (PPO) highly influence the productivity of paddy rice farming. With the increasing human awareness of the dangers of using pesticides, especially for the environment and human health, PPO control prioritizes preventive control by applying the principles of integrative pest management (IPM), which prioritizes the application of healthy crop cultivation, routine observation, utilization of natural enemies and farmers as IPM experts. The use of inputs by farmers in production activities can affect the resulting production. This study aimed to estimate the effect of input management, IPM, and non-IPM on paddy rice production. The analysis used in this study was the Cobb-Douglas production function with the multiple linear regression method. Partially, each variable of land area, seeds, inorganic fertilizers, and dummy variables of IPM or non-IPM farmers significantly affected paddy rice production in Kampar Subdistrict. Variables of organic fertilizers, natural pesticides interacted with frequency, chemical pesticides interacted with frequency, and labor partially had no significant effect on lowland paddy rice production in Kampar Subdistrict. It is necessary to re-enact counseling on IPM in Kampar Subdistrict, Kampar District, to apply IPM principles that prioritize preventive PPO control to avoid the dangers of using pesticides for the environment and human welfare. Keywords: Cobb-Douglas, plant pest organisms, integrative pest management, non-IPM, rice paddy production
