Abstract

Oil palm is a plantation crop that produces vegetable oil while increasing the economy of people in developing countries, including in Indonesia, including PT. ASN is located in Nagan Raya district, but various problems are faced in developing the oil palm plantation. This research was conducted with the aim of looking at the various problems faced by PT. ASN Nagan Raya district in the development of oil palm plantations, using 11 staff respondents and employees of plantation companies, the results of this study indicate that the problem of developing PT. ASN at Ujung Lamie Nagan Raya Gardens are low productivity, low human resources, unstable finances, lack of fertilization, poor road infrastructure, lack of discipline, Inadequate facilities, many vacant areas, attacks by pigs and porcupines during planting, lack of harvesting bridges, high fertilizer prices and educational factors. Solving these various problems can develop plantations in accordance with the company's business objectives.

Abstract

Alue Ambang Village is one of the villages in Teunom District, Aceh Jaya Regency, where the majority of the population is highly dependent on oil palm plantations. Unstable palm oil prices can affect farmers' income. This study aims to determine the contribution of oil palm income to the household needs of farmers. Of the 53 respondents who used the results of the study showed that income from oil palm can contribute to farmer households in Alue Ambang Village with a ratio of 1.1 where 62% of farmers can be fulfilled from their oil palm plantations while 38% of oil palm farmers whose income is not sufficient to meet their needs household.

Abstract

Farmers Developing Their Potential to Increase Agricultural Production Self-development for farmers must be achieved by shifting focus toward the use of organic fertilizers, supporting sustainable agriculture. The use of organic fertilizers is highly recommended to stimulate economic growth within farming communities in specific areas. Enhanced production and productivity serve as key indicators in achieving maximum yields, aiming for optimal farm income and profitability in agriculture. Increased production aligns with the balanced application of liquid fertilizers in rice cultivation. Farmers are expected to contribute positively to the sustainability of agriculture by applying liquid fertilizers to foster eco-farming and sustainable agricultural practices.

Abstract

Hampir semua kalangan sependapat bahwa kewirausahaan memiliki peran istimewa dalam pertumbuhan perekonomian dan menekan pengangguran, sehingga konsep kewirausahan perlu dikenalkan lebih dalam bagi generasi muda khususnya mahasiswa. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa pelatihan kewirausahaan terhadap mahasiswa Ikatan Mahasiswa Sumatera Utara (IMSU) ini dilakukan agar mereka tidak hanya fokus sebagai pencari pekerja pasca lulus perkuliahan, namun mampu kerja sendiri dan menyediakan lapangan pekerjaan bagi orang lain. Pelatihan kewirausahaan yang dilakukan telah memberikan pemahaman yang lebih dalam apa itu kewirausahaan, bagaimana memulai, melaksanakan, mensiasati ketidakgagalan, dan arti pentingnya kewirausahaan. Hal ini menjadi lebih penting agar mereka dapat menyelesaikan masalahnya sendiri, menciptakan lapangan kerja, dan berkontribusi terhadap lingkungan sosial masyarakat, dan perekonomian nasional. Hasil pelatihan kewirausahaan yang dilakukan menunjukkan ada peningkatan pemahaman dan keinginan mahasiswa terhadap dunia wirausaha. Namun hendaknya pelatihan ini perlu dilakukan terhadap seluruh anggota IMSU, dan berlanjut pada pelatihan terhadap objek usaha.

Abstract

Nutmeg, which is native to Indonesia, is also a superior plantation crop in South Aceh District. As a superior crop that concerns the lives of many farmers, the sustainability of the nutmeg crop needs attention. Sustainability research conducted in Samadua District was conducted to determine the condition of the sustainability of nutmeg plants based on the economic, social, environmental and post-harvest cultivation dimensions. The results showed that in multi-dimensional, social, and environmental dimensions, the nutmeg plant was in a fairly sustainable condition. But the nutmeg crop is less sustainable in the economic dimension, post-harvest cultivation. Therefore, the development of nutmeg in South Aceh District, especially in Samadua District, needs to consider this condition of sustainability status.

Abstract

Indonesia is the world’s largest producer of palm oil, a strategic commodity that significantly underpins the national economy and serves as the main source of income for millions of smallholder farmers. While oil palm cultivation is often associated with high and relatively stable financial returns, providing a vital pathway out of poverty, the actual financial dependence of farming households on this single source of income remains a critical subject of inquiry. This study aims to analyze the, contribution of oil palm farming to fulfilling household needs of farmers in Pante Ceureumen Sub-district, West Aceh Regency. The research employed a purposive sampling method with 100 oil palm farmer respondents. Data were analyzed by calculating the ratio between farming income and total household expenditures. The results indicated that the average income from oil palm farming was IDR 74.003.15 per year, while the average household expenditure was IDR 52.269.00 per year. The contribution of oil palm farming to farmers' household expenditures reached 142 %, signifying that the income derived from oil palms not only covered all household necessities but also yielded a surplus of 42%. This finding demonstrates that oil palm farming plays a vital role in enhancing the welfare of farmer households in the study area.

Abstract

Oil palm plantations constitute a leading subsector that plays a strategic role in regional economic development, particularly in Nagan Raya Regency, which is predominantly based on the agricultural sector. This study aims to analyze the role of the oil palm plantation subsector in promoting regional economic development using the Economic Base Theory as an analytical approach. A descriptive qualitative method with a literature study was employed. The data used consist of longitudinal secondary data for the period 2019–2024, sourced from official publications of Statistics Indonesia, regional development planning documents, and relevant scientific articles. The results show that the agricultural sector, dominated by the oil palm plantation subsector, makes a large and relatively stable contribution to the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Nagan Raya Regency, thereby qualifying it as a basic sector. This subsector also plays an important role in employment absorption, particularly in rural areas. However, the substantial economic contribution and labor absorption have not been fully accompanied by equitable improvements in community welfare, as indicated by the relatively slow decline in poverty rates. This condition suggests that the economic multiplier effect of the oil palm plantation subsector has not yet been optimal due to limited downstream activities and low value-added processing at the regional level. The study concludes that strengthening downstream industries and intersectoral linkages is necessary to ensure that the role of oil palm plantations can more effectively support inclusive and sustainable regional economic development.
