Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem-Based Learning model on the development of students' critical thinking skills and environmental concern through meta-analysis research. Meta-analysis was carried out on 33 relevant national and international articles. Data collection was carried out through a systematic literature search on academic databases such as Sinta, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Eric Journal. Based on the results of the study, it showed an increase in the average pretest score of 67.09 to 80.98 on the posttest, as well as the size effect (ES) which ranged from 0.66 to 0.89. Data shows that the application of PBL is able to improve students' analytical thinking skills while fostering awareness of environmental issues. PBL, as an authentic problem-solving-based model, has a significant positive impact with consistent results at various levels of education, both secondary and tertiary. This study also identifies factors that support the success of PBL, such as learning design, the quality of interaction between students and teachers, and the relevance of the context of the problems presented. With an average error standard of ≈ 0.05, the results of this study have a high level of reliability. These results have important implications for the development of education policies to integrate the PBL model in the curriculum to improve students' critical thinking skills and environmental concerns. This study concludes that PBL is an effective learning strategy in shaping students who are not only intelligent, but also care about environmental sustainability.       Keywords: meta-analysis, problem-based learning, critical thinking, environmental awareness.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1480-1497

Abstract

Indonesia is rich in diverse cultural heritage, including the traditional ULOS cloth from North Sumatra. To preserve and appreciate local culture, it is essential for student teachers to develop a deep understanding and love for that culture. The ULOS-based learning model, assisted by Augmented Reality (AR), is designed to achieve this goal. This research aims to develop a learning model based on the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, referred to as the ULOS model, to increase cultural understanding and appreciation among prospective teacher students. The study follows a Research and Development approach using the ADDIE development model. The sample includes elementary school teacher education students from UHKBPNP during the trial and effectiveness testing stages. Data collection involved expert validation sheets to assess the model suitability and test instruments to measure students love for their culture. The results demonstrate that the ULOS learning model assisted by AR, was declared valid, effective, and practical. It significantly enhanced students understanding of Batak culture and ULOS cloth, while also increasing their positive attitudes and love for local culture. The use of ULOS cloth as a teaching aid not only enriches the learning process but also strengthens cultural identity and fosters pride in Indonesia cultural heritage. The ULOS learning model is effective in enhancing cultural understanding and appreciation and has the potential to be adopted and developed in various educational and cultural contexts worldwide.

Abstract

Stunting is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as growth and development abnormalities in children. According to SSGI 2021 data, the Solok district had the highest stunting rate in West Sumatra Province when compared to other urban districts in 2021, with the highest prevalence of stunting being in the working area of the Alahan Panjang Health Center, with 536 cases (37.04%) located in Nagari Sungai Nanam, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency. This research is descriptive, with a qualitative methodology and a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of all pregnant mothers in Nagari Sungai Nanam, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency, with 28 persons chosen randomly (random purposive selection) from 14 jorongs in Nagari Sungai Nanam, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency. The data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation using questionnaires. Data were processed using SPSS version 25 with univariate tests, analyzed descriptively, and presented in tabular form. The findings revealed that 20 pregnant women (71.43%) in Nagari Sungai Nanam, Lembah Gumanti District, and Solok Regency were still participating in the agricultural process, from pesticide preparation to agricultural product harvesting. This is due to economic pressures as well as a lack of knowledge.

Abstract

One of the main challenges in the reclamation process of former coal mining land is low soil fertility. Common soil characteristics found in former mining land include unbalanced pH, low organic matter content, poor soil structure, and minimal availability of nutrients. This makes it difficult for plants to grow and develop optimally in former mining land areas. This type of research is an experimental research with a Research Design using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) 4 x 6. The population of this study was all Ruji Bean Plants (Pueraria javanica) growing in the Wire House area of PT. Pacific Coal Mining with a sample of this study of 24 Ruji Bean Plants (Pueraria javanica). The results of this study are that the provision of UFB Organic NPK fertilizer has been proven to help improve soil conditions. The dosage of UFB liquid organic NPK fertilizer solution for optimal Ruji Bean plant growth is in treatment 4 with a dose (90 ml). In terms of economy, the production of UFB liquid organic NPK fertilizer is IDR 40,300/liter, while the price of liquid NPK fertilizer on the market is IDR 100,000/liter. So, the use of UFB liquid organic NPK fertilizer solution can be a good choice for reclamation activities, this can save fertilization costs for post-mining land reclamation activities and is environmentally friendly because UFB liquid organic NPK fertilizer is made from organic materials.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the influence of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Google Site Web on students' critical thinking skills on temperature, heat and expansion materials. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment with a Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The sample was taken using the Purposive Sampling technique, so that 65 students of SMP N 2 Payakumbuh were selected for grades VII 9 and VII 10. Data collection is carried out by giving pretest and posttest questions. Based on the data obtained, the tests used are the t-test for pretest and posttest. The t-test in the pretest obtained a tcount value = 3.68 > a ttable of 2.00 which means that there is a significant difference so that Ha is accepted. Meanwhile, in the t-posttest test, the tcount value = 2.29 > ttable 2.00 which means that there is a significant difference in the average of the experimental and control classes. So, based on the results obtained from the mean difference test, it was found that there was a significant difference between the average of the experimental and control classes before and after being given treatment. When we get different research results, to see the effect can be seen from the improvement of the learning outcomes of the two sample classes. Therefore, the N-gain test is used. The results of the hypothesis calculation used are the U test or the Man Whitney test because the data obtained on the N-gain is abnormal but homogeneous. The result of the u test was obtained Zhitung = -1.54 < Ztabel = - 0.73. Referring to the criteria of the u test which states that if the Zhitung < Ztabel then H0 is rejected. So in conclusion, there is an effect of significantly improving student learning outcomes between control and experimental classes. Keywords: PBL, Google, Site, Critical, Thinking.

Abstract

The study of Natural Sciences (IPA) plays a crucial role in building students' scientific knowledge, critical thinking skills, and environmental awareness, especially in Indonesia, which is prone to natural disasters. This research analyzes disaster mitigation-based science education through a philosophical approach encompassing the dimensions of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. The method employed is a literature review of 14 articles relevant to the period from 2016 to 2024. The results indicate that, ontologically, this education emphasizes students' understanding of the interaction between natural phenomena and human activities. Epistemologically, experience-based, simulation, and technology-driven approaches have been shown to enhance disaster literacy and mitigation skills. Axiologically, this education instills values of social responsibility, environmental awareness, and solidarity in facing disasters. This integration supports Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and fosters a generation that is responsive and adaptive to global challenges, including climate change and disaster risks.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada pencapaian hasil pembelajaran kognitif peserta didik yang rendah, disebabkan oleh minimnya kemandirian dalam belajar akibat kebiasaan pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada peran guru. Siswa juga belum mengetahui cara membaca dan mencari informasi. Maka, diperlukan paradigma pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemandirian dan dorongan meneliti siswa. Pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis masalah yang menggabungkan etnosains adalah salah satu metode tersebut. Model ini mengajak peserta didik untuk berpartisipasi secara dinamis dalam rangka kegiatan dan penyelesaian masalah nyata yang sesuai dengan materi pelajaran dan kearifan lokal. Metode yang digunakan yaitu Quasi-experiment dengan desain Non-Equivalent Control Group Design, populasi yaitu kelas VII MTsN 6 Kota Padang. Pengujian hipotesis membuktikan bahwa nilai thitung > ttabel yaitu 2.99 > 2.00 maka, H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, yang menunjukkan adanya pengaruh model PBL terintegrasi etnosains terhadap hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada permasalahan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik, yang dipengaruhi oleh pendekatan pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru serta belum melibatkan unsur kearifan lokal dalam pembelajaran. Peserta didik juga belum diberikan kesempatan untuk berpartisipasi secara aktif maupun dilatih dalam keterampilan pemecahan masalah selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menetahui pengaruh penerapan model Problem Based Learning terintegrasi etnosains terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik. Penelitian ini menggunakan quasi experimental dengan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh. Berdasarkan uji hipotesis hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis diterima karena perhitungan menunjukkan , dengan nilai 5,31 > 2,01 yang artinya H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Dengan demikian penerapan model Problem Based Learning terintegrasi etnosains berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik.

Abstract

Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa disebabkan oleh aktivitas belajar yang masih berfokus pada latihan soal dan pemberian tugas, serta metode pembelajaran yang lebih dominan berupa ceramah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) terintegrasi etnosains terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di SMPN 4 Payakumbuh. Jenis penelitian ini kuantitatif dengan metode quasi eksperimen melalui rancangan non-equivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian diambil dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data diperoleh melalui pemberian pretest dan posttest, lalu dianalisis secara kuantitatif. Analisis instrumen tes menggunakan uji statistik berupa uji prasyarat dan uji hipotesis. Uji hipotesis yang dilakukan menggunakan uji-t menghasilkan thitung sebesar 3,429 yang lebih tinggi dari ttabel sebesar 1,998. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa H0 ditolak, yang berarti ada perbedaan signifikan secara statistik terkait kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang diajar dengan model PBL terintegrasi etnosains.

Abstract

Tujuan studi ini guna mengkaji pengaruh paradigma Problem Based Learning terintegrasi SETS terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VII SMPN 12 Padang. Studi ini memakai desain kuasi-eksperimental dengan desain kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen. Kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol berperan sebagai sampel penelitian. Ujian esai berdasarkan indikasi berpikir kritis digunakan sebagai alat bantu. Nilai post-test kedua kelas berbeda secara signifikan, menurut data; nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen adalah 83,01, sementara kelas kontrol hanya 66,62. Dari temuan uji-t, nilai thitung > ttabel, yang mengindikasikan jika penerapan model PBL terintegrasi SETS berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik.
