Abstract

This article discusses how films set in Minangkabau culture can be used as an effective platform to enable students to understand Minangkabau culture and the target language. Through films, students broaden their understanding of culture, language, geography, sociolinguistics, socioeconomic, socio- political and educational in Minang society. This article describes how a small number of films set in Minangkabau culture have been used at different skill levels in language programs in schools as one of the local content subjects, especially schools located in West Sumatra with the majority of the Minang community. It also examines the role of films in the teaching and learning process, and how watching films strengthens classroom activities such as discussions, and debates and activities outside the classroom such as interviews and research on topics related to the films. To explore student feedback on this process, there was a discussion about responses to watching the film. It is proposed that three main issues need to be considered: film choice; development of lesson plans; and possible efficiency is obtained by asking students to watch movies. In conclusion, it is argued that the combination of these strategies demonstrates how films set in Minangkabau culture can be used in innovative ways to teach Minang language and culture in West Sumatra. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan model pembelajaran Think Talk Write terhadap kemampuan menulis teks biografi siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri 19 Bungo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif, karena data yang diolah berupa angka. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-eksperimen dengan rancangan penelitian adalah one-group pretest-posttest. Populasi pada penelitian ini yaitu selurus siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 19 Bungo. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu Simple Random Sampling. Sampel pada penelitian ialah kelas X-1 yang terdiri dari 24 orang siswa. Pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan memberikan tes kepada siswa. Uji hipotesis yang digunakan ialah uji Wilcoxon, karena data pada penelitian ini tidak terdistribusi normal. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran Think Talk Write memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan menulis teks biografi siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 19 Bungo. Hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan pemahaman siswa mengenai teks biografi juga meningkat terutama struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan teks biografi. Serta hasil tulisan siswa yang sudah mulai memperhatikan struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan teks biografi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan siswa fase F SMAN 1 Painan dalam menulis teks berita. Hal ini disebabkan kurang terampil dalam mengungkapkan ide dan pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara monoton.tujuab penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh model pembelajaran Student Facilitator and Explaining terhadap keterampilan menulis teks berita siswa fase F SMAN 1 Painan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan rancangan penelitian One Group Protes-Postest Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa fase F SMAN 1 Painan. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas f.6. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes untuk kerja. Data pada penelitian ini berupa skor dari hasil tes untuk kerja menulis teks berita sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran Student Facilitator and Explaining. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh 3 kesimpula sebagai berikut: Pertama, keterampilan dan teks berita sebelum menggunakan model pembelajaran Student Facilitator dan Explaining siswa fase F SMAN 1 Painan berada pada tingkat penguasaan 56-65% dengan kualifikasi cukup dengan memperoleh rata-rata 64,26. Kedua, keterampilan teks berita sesudah menggunakan model pembelajaran Student Facilitator and Explaining siswa fase f sma negeri 1 painan berada pada tingkat penguasaan 76-85% dengan kualifikasi baik dengan memperoleh nilai rata-rata 77,03. Ketiga, penggunaan teks model pembelajaran Student Facilitator and Explaining memiliki pengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis teks berita siswa fase F SMAN 1 Painan. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil uji -t yang disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (h1) diterima pada taraf signifikan 95% dengan dk=n-1 karena thitung>ttabel (3,22>1.70). Model Student Facilitator and Expending secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis teks berita karena model ini menuntun siswa untuk dapat menulis secara sistematis mulai dari memikirkan ide, mendiskusikan hal-hal yang akan ditulis dan mengembangkan ide menjadi teks berita yang sesuai dengan struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan pada teks tersebut.

Hal ini disebabkan kurang terampil dalam mengungkapkan ide dan pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara monoton.tujuab penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh media film pendek terhadap keterampilan menulis teks cerpen siswa fase f SMAN 1 Luhak Nan Duo. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuntitatif menggunakan metode pre eksperimen dengan rancangan penelitian One Group Protes-Postest Design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa fase F SMAN 1 Luhak Nan Duo. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik purposive sampling. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas f.4. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes untuk kerja. Data pada penelitian ini berupa skor dari hasil tes untuk kerja menulis teks cerpen sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan media film pendek . Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh 3 kesimpula sebagai berikut: Pertama, keterampilan dan teks cerpen sebelum menggunakan media film pendek berada pada tingkat penguasaan 76-85%% dengan kualifikasi cukup dengan memperoleh rata-rata 76,04. Kedua, keterampilan teks bcerpen sesudah menggunakan media film pendek berada pada tingkat penguasaan 76-85% dengan kualifikasi baik dengan memperoleh nilai rata-rata 82,78. Ketiga, penggunaan teks cerpen media film pendek . Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari hasil uji -t yang disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (h1) diterima pada taraf signifikan 95% dengan dk=n-1 karena thitung>ttabel (3,22>1.70). Media film pendek secara signifikan berpengaruh terhadap keterampilan menulis teks cerpen karena model ini menuntun siswa untuk dapat menulis secara sistematis mulai dari memikirkan ide, mendiskusikan hal-hal yang akan ditulis dan mengembangkan ide menjadi teks cerpen yang sesuai dengan struktur dan kaidah kebahasaan pada teks tersebut.

Abstract

Pada penelitian ini, permasalahan yang diteliti adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor terjadinya penurunan literasi membaca siswa SMK Negeri 1 Hiliran Gumanti. Penelitian ini melibatkan empat subjek penelitian. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualiatif dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Teknik Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode observasi dan metode wawancara. Teknik pengabsahan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian tersebut menjelaskan jenis teks yang diminati oleh siswa yang mendominasi adalah fiksi seperti novel, sedangkan yang sedikit diminati penulis adalah teks ilmiah artikel. Siswa tidak bisa menemukan bahan bacaan di perpustakaan SMK Negeri 1 Hiliran Gumanti. Siswa hanya menggunakan bahan bacaan yang disediakan oleh guru. Guru belum menyediakan pojok baca di dalam kelas. Kepala sekolah SMK Negeri 1 Hiliran Gumanti belum menyediakan layanan digital di perpustakaan. Orang tua siswa tidak memiliki waktu yang cukup untuk menyediakan bahan bacaan maupun bimbingn langsung di rumah. Hal ini memerlukan evaluasi lebih lanjut untuk mengatasi permasalahan literasi membaca siswa SMK Negeri 1 Hiliran Gumanti.

Abstract

This community service activity is in the form of scientific writing training for grade XII students of SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. The low scientific writing skills of the students can be seen from the writing of a grade XII student of SMA Pertiwi 1 Padang. Various errors were found in the writing of the structure of the student's scientific work, starting from writing the background of the problem, formulation of the problem, benefits of writing, to writing the results of the research. In addition, errors in writing linguistic elements were also found, such as errors in the use of spelling, effective sentences, to writing bibliographies.The solution offered to this problem is to provide assistance in the form of providing motivation and practice to improve skills and interest in writing scientific papers.The activities in this training use lecture, discussion, and practice methods. Participants follow the training activities very well and can make positive contributions to the results of students' scientific work. This is proven by enthusiasm and increased understanding and the ability to write good scientific papers.. The results of the analysis of students' scientific work data show that as many as 86% of students experienced an increase in understanding and ability in writing scientific works.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the Group-Discovery Learning Model on students’ communicative identity and the development of essential 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. This model is rooted in constructivist principles and encourages active learning through peer interaction, problem-solving tasks, and self-directed inquiry. Employing a quasi-experimental design, data were collected from 104 high school students across two schools in Padang who participated in either experimental or control classes. A validated performance-based assessment instrument was used to measure student outcomes across multiple dimensions of skill development. The results revealed significant improvements in 21st-century skills among students in the experimental group, with average post-treatment scores of 84.3 and 84.8, indicating a positive effect of the model. The normalized gain (N-Gain) scores showed medium effects (0.51 and 0.45), demonstrating measurable progress over four sessions. No significant interaction was found between the school category and the model's effectiveness, suggesting its potential adaptability across diverse educational settings. These findings support the Group-Discovery Learning Model as an effective approach for enhancing both cognitive and social competencies essential for modern learners. Despite these positive outcomes, challenges remain, particularly in developing higher-order critical thinking skills such as evaluating peer arguments and synthesizing complex ideas. This suggests that while the model fosters collaborative learning and engagement, additional scaffolding may be required to strengthen analytical reasoning. The study recommends integrating digital tools into the model to enrich collaborative learning experiences and reinforce students’ evolving communicative identities in contemporary language education.

Abstract

A learning model capable of integrating various literacies and disciplines is urgently needed to face the challenges of 21st-century learning. This need drives the development of the Multiliteracy Integrative Learning Model (MULGRANING) which focuses on language learning through the integration of various fields of science. This study aims to analyze the validity and practicality of the MULGRANING model. The research method used is research and development (RD) using the Plomp Nieeven model which consists of preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment stage. Data were obtained through expert validation and limited trials on teachers and students at the high school level, namely at SMAN 2 Padang and SMAN 9 Padang. The results of the study indicate that the MULGRANING model has high validity in terms of material (92%), presentation (96%), language (84%), graphics (77%), model syntax (88%), social system (90%), reaction principle (84%), support system (91%), instructional and accompanying impact (88%). Furthermore, teachers and students rated this model as practical to implement, with an average student practicality score of 91% and a teacher practicality score of 95%. The model is categorized as very practical because it provides a clear learning flow, varied activities, and allows for the development of language skills and 21st-century skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that this model can be used as an alternative in the language learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the needs analysis of learning media to evaluate information in negotiation text at SMAN 15 Padang. The needs analysis includes learning needs analysis, learning objectives, learners' characteristics, and learning environment to evaluate information in negotiation text. By using qualitative approach and description method, the data obtained through observation, interview, and questionnaire were analyzed in depth. The results showed that students at SMAN 15 Padang, in terms of learning needs, need access to technology in the form of negotiation simulation videos with interactive animations that visualize the negotiation process; in terms of learning objectives, students need media that help them unravel the structure of negotiation texts, assess arguments, and practice negotiations; in terms of learner characteristics, students generally like visual media and gamification so they need media that can facilitate various learning styles of students; and in terms of learning environment, students need access to interactive media, google docs for joint evaluation, and comfortable classrooms. Thus, students need learning media that is contextual/relevant to their daily lives, participatory/demanding students to be creative, adaptive to their diverse learning styles, and feedback such as quizzes to measure their skills.
