Abstract

Preconception behaviors are actions taken by women of childbearing age before pregnancy to prepare for a healthy pregnancy. This study aims to analyze the influence of age, previous pregnancy experience, and partner support on preconception behaviors among women of childbearing age in Kudus Regency. The method used was an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach, involving 100 respondents from 19 community health centers (Puskesmas) in Kudus Regency. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed no significant association between age (p=0.201) and previous pregnancy experience (p=0.290) and preconception behaviors. However, knowledge was shown to have a significant effect on preconception behaviors (p=0.000) with an odds ratio (OR) of 7.639, indicating that women with less knowledge were 7.6 times more likely to have poor preconception behaviors than those with more knowledge. Partner support was also an important factor in shaping preconception behaviors. This study confirms that increasing partner knowledge and support needs to be a focus in efforts to improve preconception behaviors to reduce the risk of high-risk pregnancies and improve the health of mothers and babies.

Abstract

Preconception care is a strategic step to prepare for a healthy pregnancy and reduce the risk of complications for the mother and fetus. This study aims to analyze the relationship between education level and chronic diseases with preconception care behavior among women of childbearing age (WUS) in Kudus Regency. The study design used a quantitative approach with a survey method. A sample of 100 WUS was determined using the Slovin formula and purposive sampling technique based on certain criteria, such as marital status and pregnancy plans. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, and analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results of the analysis showed no significant relationship between education level (p = 0.336) and chronic diseases (p = 0.441) with preconception care behavior. Although descriptively there was a trend of better preconception behavior in women with higher education and without chronic diseases, the relationship was not statistically significant. These findings indicate that education and chronic diseases are not the sole determinants of preconception behavior, so it is necessary to consider other factors such as family support, access to information, and health services. This study recommends the need for a holistic approach in promoting preconception care to improve pregnancy readiness at the community level.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is transmitted by Aedes aegypti, one of controlling vectors which is larvicides. Synthetic larvicides cause several problems so that alternative natural larvicides are used. One of which is the krokot (Portulaca oleracea, L.), the content such as flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, and saponins can be used as larvicides. This study aims to determine the larvicides activity of krokot extract on mortality of Aedes aegypti. The study was conducted using experimental quantitative research. The study was conducted by pouring the ethanol extract on 25 larvae and repeated 3 times, for 24 hours. The result of larvae mortality test at concentrations of 4%, 5% and 6%, namely 39%, 57% dan 72%. LC50 value from krokot extract on the larvae mortality, that is equal to 9.294%. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the krokot ethanol extract is able to kill 50% of the Aedes aegypti larvae population.   Keywords:          krokot, ethanol extract, Aedes aegypti, mortality

Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the main causes of maternal morbidity and mortality in Indonesia which is characterized by increased blood pressure and impaired organ function after 20 weeks of gestation. This study aims to determine the relationship between diabetes mellitus, anemia, and the distance between pregnancies and the incidence of preeclampsia in pregnant women who give birth at Sunan Kudus Hospital in 2024. This study used a quantitative design with a retrospective case-control approach, involving 252 respondents consisting of 63 pregnant women with preeclampsia (cases) and 189 pregnant women without preeclampsia (control). Data were collected secondary through medical records and analyzed using the Chi-Square test with a 95% confidence level and p< significance of 0.05. The results showed that diabetes mellitus was not significantly associated with the incidence of preeclampsia (p = 0.096; OR = 2,737; CI 0.884–8.475), but mothers with DM have a 2.7-fold greater risk of developing preeclampsia. There was a significant association between anemia and the incidence of preeclampsia (p = 0.001; OR = 2,794; CI 1.520–5.136) and between the distance between pregnancy and the incidence of preeclampsia (p = 0.022; OR = 2,053; CI 1,146–3,679). In conclusion, anemia and the distance between pregnancies at risk have a meaningful relationship with the incidence of preeclampsia, whereas diabetes mellitus is not statistically significant but still has the potential to increase risk. Prevention of preeclampsia needs to be focused on monitoring hemoglobin levels, setting ideal pregnancy distances, and managing metabolic diseases during pregnancy through comprehensive antenatal care examinations.
