Abstract

Needs that are difficult to fulfill due to the lack of a husband's income lead women to enter the public sector, causing a phenomenon called the dual role of women. This research aims to explore how the dual role is experienced by working women in Kabanjahe District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province, and its role in fulfilling the hierarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow. The results of this study show that the majority of working women in Kabanjahe District focus on fulfilling physiological needs, which are the most basic needs in Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The majority of them find it difficult to fulfill other needs because the income earned is focused on fulfilling physiological needs. This phenomenon seems to support and align with Abraham Maslow's theory, that humans will not have time to fulfill other needs if their physiological needs have not been met.

Abstract

This study examines the community's response to the construction of decent houses in Dumai City.  The author attempts to describe and analyze the community's response to the Construction of a Livable House Program in Dumai City in a factual, accurate, and systematic manner. The author uses the survey method, which, according to Masri Singarimbun in Iskandar, is "research that takes samples from the population and uses questionnaires as the main data collection tool." The data were processed using SPSS software with cross-tabulation and chi-square analysis. The community's response to receiving livable houses to overcome poverty and reduce economic burdens is categorized as good. The community's response to receiving livable houses is also in the good category. However, a small number of respondents still complain about the construction quality of the houses. The community's response to receiving livable houses in terms of comfort and household comfort is in the good category. The community's response to receiving decent housing in terms of its ability to provide protection, guidance, and education for the family is also in the good category. The community's response to receiving livable houses in terms of improving environmental health for family life is also good.

Abstract

Abstract:  This community service program aims to empower the community through the development of moringa villages as a strategy for increasing resilience, sustainability and wisdom of rural communities towards climate change in Mekar Jaya Hamlet, Sungai Nibung Village. The stages of community service are carried out using the PRA method, including establishing partners, socialization, training in moringa leaf nurseries and processing, and the development of moringa villages. Results of PKM activities in the Mekar Jaya Hamlet community, it was shown that the level of knowledge of participants regarding climate change and the benefits of moringa plants varies greatly. Based on pre-test data, it was shown that 23.53% of participants had a low level of knowledge, while only 5.88% of participants had a high level of knowledge. However, after the provision of socialization materials, there was a significant increase. Based on post-test data, participants with a high level of knowledge jumped to 82.35% and there was no low level of knowledge. This increase shows that the effectiveness of the socialization program in increasing public awareness and understanding of environmental issues and the potential benefits of moringa plants.Abstrak: Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat melalui pembangunan kampung kelor sebagai strategi peningkatan, ketahanan, keberlanjutan dan kearifan komunitas rural terhadap perubahan iklim di Dusun Mekar Jaya, Desa Sungai Nibung memiliki. Tahapan pengabdian dilakukan dengan metode PRA yang diantaranya, menjalin mitra, sosialisasi, pelatihan pembibitan dan pengolahan daun kelor serta pembangunan kampung kelor. Hasil kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan peserta terkait perubahan iklim dan manfaat tanaman kelor sangat beragam. Berdasarkan data pre-test menunjukkan bahwa 23,53% peserta memiliki tingkat pengetahuan yang tergolong rendah, sementara hanya 5,88% peserta memiliki tingkat pengetahuan tinggi. Namun, setelah pemberian materi sosialisasi terjadi peningkatan yang signifikan. Berdasarkan data post-test peserta dengan tingkat pengetahuan tinggi melonjak menjadi 82,35% dan tidak terdapat tingkat pengetahuan rendah. Peningkatan ini adalah menunjukkan bahwa efektivitas program sosialisasi dalam meningkatkan kesadaran dan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap isu lingkungan dan potensi manfaat tanaman kelor.

Abstract

Sociology students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Riau, are proud of the department they have chosen. The sociology program equips them to become competent graduates capable of serving as agents of change in society. This study employs a qualitative approach using structured interviews and free essays from students about their experiences. Informants were purposively selected from the 2022 cohort of students actively involved in campus organizations, without considering their Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and themes related to students' pride. With the growing interest in sociology among young people, it is important for the faculty to continue improving the quality of the curriculum and providing adequate support for students so that they feel proud and engaged in the field they have chosen. This study shows that student involvement in various extracurricular activities, as well as the support and guidance provided by faculty members, are key factors in building students' pride in their department.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role and interpretation of Sociology students at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Riau University regarding the role of academic advisors (PA). Paradigmatically, Parsons' structural functionalism theory is often identified with a quantitative approach. However, this study consciously employs Parsons' Role Theory as the theoretical framework for qualitative research, as it focuses on the concepts of “role” and “role expectations,” which are relevant for an in-depth exploration from the students' perspective. The method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design. Primary data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with 2023 sociology students selected purposively. Data analysis used Miles and Huberman's interactive model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-drawing. The results show that students have diverse interpretations of the role of PA lecturers, which are often adapted to their personal needs and experiences.  The main findings reveal a gap between students' role expectations and the role performance they perceive from academic advisors. This study concludes that the implementation of the academic advising system at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Riau, has not been fully effective in meeting students' expectations, and further evaluation is needed to bridge this gap between the two.

Abstract

Dengan banyak nelayan dan pertanian yang ada di Desa Sungai Luar maka Kecamatan Batang tuaka sangat mendukung program home industry atau usaha mikro, agar menunjang perekonomian daerah dan juga masyarakat setempat. Industry di Desa Sungai Luar masih relative kecil mulai dari usaha mikro, industry kecil dan industry menengah. Dengan adanya industry-industry ini dapat membuka lapangan kerja baru terutama bagi kaum hawa. Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir Kecamatan Batang Tuaka merupakan daerah yang disebut dengan seribu parit dan masyarakat nya mayoritas umat muslim, dalam hal ini di Desa Sungai Luar terdapat sektor industry rumah tangga dengan nama home industry kerupuk amplang yang masing-masing memiliki karyawan. Dengan adanya home industry diharapkan mampu untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup masyarakat. Selain itu juga masyarakat Desa Sungai Luar juga bekerja sebagai nelayan dengan penghasilan tangkapan udang yang cukup banyak, kemudahan dalam memperoleh hasil dari laut berupa udang tersebut membuka peluang usaha bagi masyarakat yang tinggal di Sungai Luar, sehingga masyarakat mempunyai inisiatif dengan kreatifitas memanfaatkan sumber daya alam sekitar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif karena metode ini tepat digunakan untuk penelitian ini. Tenaga kerja Penelitian menemukan bahwa rata-rata subjek penelitian memperkerjakan masyarakat sekitar dan anggota keluarganya untuk membantu mengembangkan Home Industri kerupuk amplang di Desa Sungai Luar.

Abstract

Single parent women have multiple activities and responsibilities towards their families. So that in fulfilling their needs of family life, single parent women must be able to balance their domestic and public affairs, especially when they are working. The job they are chosen is a job with high time flexibility, one of which is by becoming an online motorcycle driver. they meet various people every day, friends from a basecamp, from customers and parties they meet and their activities in order to get sustenance for the needs of their family life. The purpose of this study was to find out the rational choice of single parent women to become online motorcycle drivers in Pekanbaru City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis uses rational choice theory by james coleman. The results of this study indicate that single parent women working as online motorcycle drivers have their own way of dividing time for domestic and public activities, and have many friends

Abstract

Pada sektor industri seperti petambangan tentu akan adanya pengembangan usaha sebagai bagian pendorong kekuatan pembangunan ekonomi. Kegiatan perusaha juga mampu menyediakan lapangan kerja dan lapangan usaha. Salah satu kerjasama atau kemitraan antara perusahaan batu bara dengan masyarakat yaitu usaha catering makanan untuk karyawan perusahaan. Dalam usaha tentu membutuhkan modal seperti modal sosial yang dimana modal sosial merupakan suatu hal yang telah lama dikenal dimasyarakat meskipun dengan istilah dan bentuk yang berbeda. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk Menganalisis Unsur Modal Sosial Usaha Catering di Desa Batu Ampar Kecamatan Kemuning Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir. Penelitian in menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deksriptif dengan teknik pengambilan subjek penelitian dilakukan dengan purposive sampling.  Hasil penelitian mencoba menganalisis modal sosial usaha catering di Desa Batu Ampar yang mana tentunya memiliki kepercayaan yang sangat dijaganya ketika menjalankan usaha, namun tidak hanya itu jaringan pada usaha ini terlihat pada hasil penelitian ini yang tentu adanya peluang usaha dan kerja namun yang bekerja pada usaha catering ini mereka yang merupakan anggota keluarga ataupun kerabatnya saja dan peran norma sosial yang ada pada usaha ini tentu mereka medisplinkan pekerjaan untuk menjaga kepercayaan pelanggan. Sehingga pada penelitian ini terletak pada jaringan usaha yang kurang optimal karena hanya memasarkan dengan pihak pertambangan saja.

Abstract

Pengabdian yang dilakukan di UMKM Rumah Madu Wilbi di Desa Kuok Kecamatan Kuok Kabupaten Kampar bertujuan untuk penguatan modal sosial agar UMKM Madu Wilbi sebagai produk unggulan yang lebih berdaya saing tinggi. Metode penerapan yang dilaksanakan terdiri dari tiga tahap yakni persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan monitoring serta evaluasi. Pada tahap persiapan dilakukannya analisa dan brainstorming dengan mitra, dengan menjelaskan strategi dan inovasi untuk mendongkrak kemajuan bisnis rumah madu wilbi khususnya di lini pemasaran. Tahap pelaksanaan dilakukannya penguatan digital branding rumah madu wilbi, sistem digital marketing dan list building, serta peningkatan distribusi penjualan dengan sistem dropshit. Tahap terakhir dilaksanakan secara intensif oleh pelaksana dan mitra untuk melihat seberapa efektif serta melakukan evaluasi terkait trouble selama proses pelaksanaan. Manfaat secara praktis sebagai dampak dari pengabdian dengan terciptanya desa mandiri dan menjadi sentra wisata aneka jenis dan olahan madu yang memiliki nilai tambah bagi masyarkat, baik pada kegiatan ekonomi, kebijakan, dan perubahan perilaku yang sesuai dengan potensi desa yakni UMKM Rumah Madu Wilbi.
