Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of giving Sipatah-patah extract toward the histopathological and femur bone growth of white rat that was ovariectomized. The experimental animals that were used were 12 white rats divided into 4 treatment group with 3 repetitions. K0 was the ovariectomized rat without giving Sipatah-patah extract (ESP); K1, K2 and K3 were ovariectomized rats which were given Sipatah-patah extract with multilevel doses of 500 mg/kg BW, 700 mg/kg BW and 900 mg/kg BW for 30 days. On the 31st day, rats were euthanized using chloroform and os femur that was taken to being made into histological preparation.  There was the decrease in the bones density of the K0 group which is characterized by thinning of trabecular structure, there were lots of osteoclast cells on the edge of the trabecular and lower density of active osteoblasts and passive osteoblasts. The rat of group K1 and K2 showed an improvement on the trabecular structure and lower osteoclast than group K0. The rat of group K3 had a visible improvement of the most congested trabecular structures, cohesive with the most density cell of active osteoblasts than the other groups. The result of this research concluded that the giving of Sipatah-patah extract doses 900 mg/kg BW showed a higher density of trabecular and active osteoblasts than the control group, K1 and K2 on the white rat bones that were ovariectomized.

Abstract

This study aim to know the efficacy of the jatropha sap cream toward the inflammatory phase of wound healing on the skin of mice. This study used 9 male mice, with 25-40 grams weights and 2-3 months old.  Male mice receiveddivided into 3 groups, and3 deuteronomy.The cut is done in the back as 2 cm long. Wound care is done twice a day at 08.00 am and at 18.00 pm for 3 days. The treatment I (PI) cuts smeared a cream base (as a negatif control); treatment II (PII) smeared 10% jatropha sap cream; and the treatment III (PIII) smeared 0.1% sulfadiazine  (as a positive control).Created a skin sample preparation microtechnic stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE). The result on the number of infiltration of inflammatory cells and neovascular on PI; PII; and PIII were 402,00 ± 7,21 and 14,00 ± 5,57; 248,67 ± 1,53 and 34,67 ± 7,51; and 343,00 ± 8,89 and 28,00 ± 5,00  (P0,01). Based on the result it be concluded the treatment of 10% jatropha sap cream can speed up the process of the inflammatory phase of wound healing in the skin of mice.

Abstract

The skin is an organ that functions to coat, protect and wrap the surface of the body and can maintain the balance of fluids in the body, including in birds. Aves skin can also provide a thermal insulation function. In general, the skin layers of aves consist of the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. This study aimed to describe the histological structure and histomorphometric skin of native chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus), ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) and pigeons (Columba livia) in the caudal region. The samples used were six individuals each of. The skin of the caudal region of the sample is then processed, started from preparation to a histological preparation with a thickness of 5 m, followed by Haematoxylin-Eosin (HE) staining. The results showed that the histological structure of the skin of the three types of aves consisted of the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis with a thinner thickness than the skin of mammals. The measured histomorphometric data showed that the epidermal layer thickness of the skin of the caudal region of native chickens, ducks and pigeons was not significantly different (P0.05), there was a significant difference (P0.05) in the thickness of the dermis and hypodermis layers. It was concluded there was no difference in the histological structure of the skin of native chickens, ducks and pigeons, the skin histomorphometry of the caudal region of native chickens, the dermis and hypodermis were thicker than those of ducks and pigeons.Keywords: Skin, aves, caudal, histology, histomorphometry.

Abstract

Penentuan akumulasi cadmium (Cd) dalam hati kambing kacang di daerah tsunamiABSTRAK. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeteksi akumulasi cadmium pada hati dan feces kambing Kacang dan sekaligus mengukur kadar akumulasi cadmium tersebut. Limabelas ekor kambing Kacang yang berasal dari rumah potong di daerah Tsunami dan limbelas ekor kambing Kacang yang berasal dari rumah potong di daerah Non-Tsunami. Diikuti dengan lima ekor kambing Kacang dari desa di daerah Tsunami dan lima ekor kambing Kacang dari desa di daerah Non-Tsunami. Ke-empatpuluh ekor kambing Kacang tersebut disembelih untuk diambil hati dan feces. Sebelum hati dan feces tersebut akan dipreparasi untuk analisis akumulasi dari cadmium, dilakukan pengamatan anatomi dari hati dan feces tersebut. Cadmium berakumulasi dihati dan feces dari kambing Kacang, baik yang berasal dari daerah Tsunami dan dari daerah Non-Tsunami. Akumulasi cadmium didalam hati kambing Kacang signifikan lebih tinggi di daerah Non-Tsunami dibandingkan didalam hati kambing Kacang di daerah Tsunami. Pada feces kambing Kacang akumulasi cadmium juga signifikan lebih tinggi di daerah Non-Tsunami dibandingkan didalam feces kambing Kacang di daerah Tsunami.

Abstract

Penentuan akumulasi timbal (Pb) dalam hati kambing kacang di daerah tsunamiABSTRACT. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeteksi akumulasi timbal pada hati dan feces kambing Kacang dan sekaligus mengukur kadar akumulasi timbal tersebut. Lima belas ekor kambing Kacang yang berasal dari rumah potong di daerah Tsunami dan lima belas ekor kambing Kacang yang berasal dari rumah potong di daerah Non-Tsunami. Diikuti dengan lima ekor kambing Kacang dari desa di daerah Tsunami dan lima ekor kambing Kacang dari desa di daerah Non-Tsunami. Ke-empat puluh ekor kambing Kacang tersebut disembelih untuk diambil hati dan feces. Sebelum hati dan Feces tersebut akan dipreparasi untuk analisis akumulasi dari Timbal, dilakukan pengamatan anatomi dari hati dan feces tersebut. Timbal berakumulasi dihati dan feces dari kambing Kacang, baik yang berasal dari daerah Tsunami dan dari daerah Non-Tsunami. Akumulasi Timbal didalam hati kambing Kacang lebih signifikan tinggi di daerah Non-Tsunami dibandingkan didalam hati kambing Kacang di daerah Tsunami. Sedangkan akumulasi Timbal didalam feces kambing Kacang lebih signifikan tinggi di daerah Tsunami dibandingkan didalam feces kambing Kacang di daerah Non-Tsunami.

Abstract

The main purpose of this present study is to evaluate the ability of near infrared technology as an alternative method in determining and assessing quality parameters of meat product where in this case is frozen beef. At first, beef samples from chest and legs parts were sliced and taken at the amount of 100g per sample to be frozen. Then spectra data of beef samples were obtained using near infrared spectrophotometer (PSD IR i16) in wavelength range from 1000 to 2500 nm with optical gain 4x. Actual protein contents were obtained by Kjeldahl method and measured in triplicate. The near infrared spectra data were enhanced and improved by means of mean centering (MC) and baseline shift correction (BSC) methods. The results showed that protein content of frozen beef samples can be predicted rapidly with maximum correlation coefficient is 0.91. Heat properties of beef samples changes exponentially during freezing and thus, optimum freezing temperature and time can be predicted as well. Based on those obtained results, it may conclude that near infrared technology can assess frozen beef qualities rapidly and effectively.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to further understand the histomorphometry of seminiferous tubules from local goat testicles that were fixed with different fixatives. Nine testicles were randomly chosen, each fixed with 10% formalin, 10% neutral buffered formalin (NBF), and 4% paraformaldehyde (PFA) solutions. The sample was then proceeded to histology preparation and stained with haematoxylin eosin (HE). Observation of the tissue was carried out using microscope and the data obtained was analyzed statistically. The results showed that there was a significant difference (P0.05) on each fixative in tubular diameter and membrane, and very significant difference (P0.01) on germinal cell and staining absorbability. Duncan test result on tubular diameter showed that the use of PFA fixative was significantly different (P0.05) compared to formalin fixative while the use of NBF fixative had no significant difference (P0.05) compared to PFA fixative. In addition, the measurement of interstitial membrane of seminiferous tubules showed no significant difference (P0.05) among three fixatives. To conclude, formalin, NBF, and PFA fixatives affect seminiferous tubules, basal membrane structure, and germinal cell appearance inside tubular lumen. Type of tissues and fixative must be considered in selecting the suitable fixative.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak epididimis (EE) terhadap peningkatan kualitas spermatozoa kambing jantan lokal. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan 12 ekor kambing jantan lokal, berumur 1,5 tahun dengan bobot badan 10-15 kg dan dibagi atas empat kelompok (K0, KP1, KP2, dan KP3). Kelompok K0, hanya diinjeksi dengan NaCl fisiologis sedangkan kelompok KP1, KP2, dan KP3 diinjeksi EE masing-masing 1, 2, dan 3 ml/ekor selama 13 hari berturut-turut. Pada hari ke-14, dilakukan pengambilan semen kambing dengan elektroejakulator dan selanjutnya dilakukan pemeriksaan kualitas spermatozoa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian EE dengan dosis 1 dan 3 ml/ekor EE selama 13 hari berturut-turut menyebabkan peningkatan kualitas spermatozoa dibanding kelompok kontrol. Berdasarkan hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa EE berpotensi meningkatkan kualitas spermatozoa pada kambing jantan lokal.

Abstract

ABSTRACT. Kualitas telur sangat dipengaruhi oleh sistem pemeliharaan, ayam petelur dapat dipelihara dengan perkandangan closed house dan open house. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas telur ayam ras petelur cokelat (hibrida) yang dipelihara di kandang closed house dan open house. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 160 butir telur yang terdiri dari kandang closed house dan open house, telur yang digunakan berumur 5 hari. Parameter yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini adalah berat telur, kantung udara, indeks kuning telur dan haugh unit. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh pada berat telur pada kandang closed house adalah 66,42 4,006 dan kandang open house 66,04 3,669, kantung udara pada telur closed house adalah 0,52 0,093 cm dan kandang open house adalah 0,56 0,078 cm, indeks kuning telur pada kandang closed house adalah 0,45 0,038 dan kandang open house adalah 0,40 0,044, haugh unit telur pada kandang closed house adalah 85,72 8,889 dan kandang open house adalah 76,17 8,664. Dari hasil uji t-independent bahwa kualitas telur pada kandang closed house dan open house yang terdiri dari berat telur, kantung udara, indeks kuning telur dan haugh unit menunjukkan hasil yang berbeda tidak nyata pada taraf () 0,05. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa adanya perbedaan kualitas telur ayam ras petelur cokelat (hibrida) isa brown yang dipelihara di kandang closed house dengan kualitas telur ayam ras petelur cokelat (hibrida) isa brown yang dipelihara di kandang open house.(Quality of eggs brown layings hens (hybrid) reared in closed house and open house)ABSTRAK. The quality of eggs is greatly influenced by the maintenance system, laying hens can be raised with closed house and open house. This study aimed to determine the differences in the quality of eggs of brown laying hens (hybrids) raised in closed house and open house cages. The sample used was 160 eggs kept in closed house cages and open house, Used eggs used were 5 days old. The parameters examined in this study were egg weight, air bag, yolk index and haugh unit. The results obtained from the weight of eggs in Closed House cages were 66,42 4,006 and the Open House was 66,04 3,669 the air sacs of eggs reared in Closed House were 0.52 0.093 cm and the Open House is 0.56 0.078 cm, the egg yolk index in the Closed House is 0.45 0.038 and the Open House is 0,40 0.044, Haugh unit of eggs reared in Closed House were 85,72 8,889 and Open House were 76.17 8,664. It can be concluded that there is a difference in the quality of eggs of brown laying hens (hybrids) raised in closed house cages with the quality of eggs of brown laying hens (hybrids) raised in Open House cages.
